oh dear lord, Robert's voice just makes me melt...

Robert's voice as Prince Diamond made me crush on him. Im only hearing Matthew Mercer for the first time now and he is pretty good.

Kaneto has this soft spoken tone, but you tell the powerful presence that shows that he's the boss of the Black Moon Kingdom before Wiseman showed up and the hidden instability of his true lust based mental deterioration of this broken man. Mamoru has a regal and confident tone to his voice, but it hides the fact he's a spoiled brat that used to having his own world. Robert has this deep and detached tone and definitely captures the depraved lustful stalker side of the character, but it also gives the hint that he was a noble person both he warped by Wiseman. Matthew is very good with having a confident and tone that always makes the characters that he voices have a powerful presence that this is a badass guy you don't want to mess with (I'm talking Jotaro, Levi, Sinbad, Kiritsugu and Law here). It's also the voice that has a noble and compassionate side no matter what kind of character it is. Personally, it's one of the rare cases where each voice I actually find all fitting for the type of portrayal that they convey rather than favoring some over others.

Robert has such a good deep and regal voice that makes you believe he is royalty. He's what I grew up with. Matthew has a powerful voice that's suitable for any prince. It's no wonder why he played more princes. Both are great. I don't prefer one over the other.

Robert Bockstael actually had a really pleasing voice I think is very fitting of the character. Matthew Mercer is a great follow up that I"m not sure who I like more.

Matthew Mercer has played three princes so far, hasn't he? He was Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening, and Ryoma from Fire Emblem Fates.

Anyone notice that the new voice for Demande is named Mamoru? That is so cool. His Crystal voice and Matthew Mercer are perfect for his character: obsessed with a woman he cannot have and drunk with power, but at the same time thinking he's the hero. It's like Prince Nuada from the Hellboy universe.

Shiozawa, Bockstael and Mercer are all perfect really.

I think they're both so good in English, but I would give the win to Robert.

I really liked all the voices for prince diamond, but my favorite voice actor for him is robert bockstael from the dic dub version. He was really great as prince diamond, even though the dic dub version of sailor moon was so cheesy and hilarious too. Matthew also does a great job as prince diamond too in the viz dub version of sailor moon too.

For the Japanese, definitely the late Kaneto Shiozawa. The English choice was difficult. I really enjoyed Robert Bockstael's performance for Demande, and yet, I do like Matthew Mercer's take as well.

as a fan of miyano mamoru obviously i am biased but both japanese seiyuu portrayed the character well to convey their true colours. those who dont like the younger seiyuu need to know how he is not too young, before crystal he has been cast as both hero, villain, and antihero since 2003 and gained popularity through the role of.....light yagami......that should say something abt how talented he has been and always will be

I think the English Viz dub dialogue with Matt is better but even with the awkward dialogue of the original English DiC dub Robert still puts in a good performance. If Robert had better dialogue to work with I'd be hard pressed to say whether he or Matt was better.

I don't really have any complaints about Robert in fact I think that was one of Dic's Better casting decisions,but I have to go with Matthew he had a more powerful voice

I know I'm in the minority, but while I like all the voice actors, I like Mamoru Miyano most of all. Of the four he sounds the youngest, and it's really missed in the other portrayals that this guy is an upstart, not a timeless noble. I also admit Viz's dub Matt Mercer is an improvement on the old dub. (No, not EVERYthing Viz does is bad.) That said, I wish Demande were played in the English versions with someone with a higher register. I see why it's done thay way in the Japanese version, but in English it just makes the character sound older than he's supposed to be.

demande is not really evil just misunderstood. To me he is a prince charming that will do anything for the girl he loves. Also matthew mercer is my favorite. he gives demande such a seductive tone and yet charming voice. And his voice totally gives me disney prince vibes. XD HAha

I don't know which version of Prince Demande is even dumber, character and story-wise. Is it the original Japanese version or the DiC English version of the character?! Either way, I actually find his character in the manga and the Crystal version to be a bit more psychotic, smarter and creepier than in the original 90's anime.

I just can't get behind Miyano... I am too used to Demande's voice being deep & rugged, either by Shiozawa or Bockstael. Between Miyano & how they drew the character for Cyrtsal, Demande comes off way too young, and reminds me way too much of Lelouch from Code Geass. Not saying Miyano isn't sexy in his own way, but just not for this character. Blargh. Doesn't work for him.

Both english actors are awesome. Can't pick a favorite. However the changing of the names in the new dub pisses me off. Esmerald. Sahfyer. WTF? ITS EMERALD AND SAPHIRE! AND PRINCE DIAMOND!!!!! The Japanese pronunciations sound so stupid in the English dub!!!!!!
