Prince Harry is getting honest about his mental health in a way we have never before seen. The Duke of Sussex is opening up about his life and telling Oprah Winfrey how therapy has helped him get him to a better place. In their new Apple TV+ series, “The Me You Cant See,” the former British royal details his past, and talks about the devastating impact losing his mother when he was so young had on his life. He also recounts how Meghan helped him turn to therapy and details why they chose to step back from royal life.

So what if Prince Harry has decided to take action and to open up about his struggles I think it’s very brave of him to do so. Mental health can literally affect anyone it does not discriminate. Not many people are able to open about their struggles and for Prince Harry to open up it is such amazing thing to do. People die in silence due to their struggles and the stigma of society. Good on him🙌

When my mom died when I was 22, my father was abroad at the time working, I'm an only child living with my grandma who was in a state of shock. My mom was only 43 when she died. I had to take care of the wake, the funeral parlor, the casket, even the flowers. I went into "problem solving" mode and it didn't feel real. It only sank into me, 3 days after the internment. That's when I cried. But prior to that, nothing. Even during the burial, not a tear.

He has the right to talk about how the media affected his life. He was a child regardless of his background. Bad press and haters are similar to the press that destroyed his mother. William also lost his mother and, thank God, he did not turn to booze and drugs. Instead he chose to honour his mother in a dignified manner by not exploiting her death. He went to school, looked after Harry, encouraging him to seek help, although we now hear of Meghan being credited with that role. William was hurting as much as Harry - He is just not prepared to sell his soul and his mother's memory. Bless him and his dignity👏

Maybe he has the "luxury" to reveal his feelings unlike the Queen, Prince Charles or Prince William because, for the lack of the better terms, he's the "spare" and not the "heir". But personally, as someone with mental health issues too, at least he's using his royal status and popularity for something good. He's 6th in line so the crown is quite far from him. But at least he makes the monarchy relatable. I think he's not destroying the institution nor his family. The smoke and mirrors is still there, but sharing his experience also makes a royal, a relatable human being. Which I think further strengthens the institution in this modern age.

Speaking up about mental health is a positive step for all. But, Harry has already stated William encouraged him to get help before Meghan was in the picture, and glad he’s getting what he needs to face his demons. Many of us cannot afford help. But, I’m not comfortable with the idea of him talking so negatively about his family to the world. He could have explained it without devaluing his own family. I don’t believe Harry would have did so if he got what he wanted when he stepped down. He wanted half in, and he wanted them to help him financially. The fact he didn’t get either seems to be his reasoning to speak up, and it is financially benefitting which he is fully aware of. Wish him the best to find peace and hopefully happiness, but dividing a family isn’t a positive road to such success.

@@maqangazamanyezile218 Hi Maqangaza :) Dealing with things in private doesn't mean you have to do it alone. It's also possible without disgracing your family. I believe doing it on Oprah and revenge tend to be the opposite of a healthy support system. If I have a tremendous issue with a family member, I don't call for public interviews. Seems financial to me. I also think that surviving true trauma, such as the loss of a parent, though we are probably never fully healed, part of the healing process is moving on. While I can't speak for Harry, I think since he has is own family now, that's a good thing to dwell on at this point.

Many don't trust the press, and unfortunately some worship them. We're not going to change the press but we can choose not to listen to them! And I think many here are referring to personal relations with family and making those public, a totally separate issue. If Harry went on a national tour lecturing about the morals and ramifications of the disregard for human rights, respect and well, frankly, the truth, by the press, I would buy a ticket. If he's publicly bashing family members, I would say he really hasn't fully dealt with these issues yet. It may be much more healthy for him to alternatively confront those issues with his family directly, and privately, showing respect, reserve and maturity. William, and I'm sure to some respect, even Charles, suffered those same public traumas, but if they had gripes with family members, we don't know about it in any great detail, if at all, do we. :)

Everyone is affected by depression and abandonment in a different way and just because he was born to a royal household does not mean he does not have layers of emotions and experiences. However, just Harry isn’t the first to lose a parent at 12 and he was blessed, unlike many, with a large, caring family and wealth beyond all reason. So Harry blames his Dad, I guess the Queen is supposed to blame her parents...How far back is the blame game supposed to go? The best way Harry can raise his kids is to show them how to care for your parents even though they make mistakes. His kids will see the blame Harry puts on his family while owning none of it himself, and they will learn that it is acceptable to blame your parents for your problems. The hardest thing in the world is to forgive someone who never asked for forgiveness. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.

Negative comments are why some don't reach out for help. But there is NO SHAME IN SEEKING HELP. What is ashame is that still today people don't understand how to help their loved ones who may suffer from depression etc. After all no one chooses to have it. Anyone rich ,poor, young or older can suffer from it at any time in their life. And wouldn't you want to help someone you love!! Or someone to understand what you were fighting against?
