Honestly, I never understood that about the movie. It's pretty dark and serious, as far as a kids movie goes, but it doesn't take the pagans seriously. Even if you are Jewish or Christian, and think that they were the villains, they should be sincere. They really believed in these Gods, despite common misconceptions, pagans weren't all charlatans and conmen. Enemies of God (or not), the Egyptians thought *they* were the righteous ones, the good guys, the favored people, and they should be presented as such. It makes them scarier and more believable.

I don't think it has anything to do with the movie being for children. Rather to make sure the Egyptians are the wrong ones. It is easier to present the "hero" in the right, when the other side is presented as charlatans.

For everyone who says they look like serial killers or possessed: The way I see it being played is from an angle of the characters being fanatical zealots who truly believe in the power of the gods. Jonathan and Caleb aren't acting the charlatans that the characters are in the movies, they're acting like crazed clerics who are not going to stand seeing their gods being discounted and dismissed.

A lot of people have pointed out that the priests in this song didn't mention Isis, goddess of magic, despite being magicians. Might be a coincidence, but I think it's because they're not actually casting spells, and it's all smoke and mirrors. Also, they didn't mention Osiris, god of the afterlife, and they were powerless to stop Rameses's son from dying. They did mention Wadjet, who's often portrayed as a snake, and Sobek, crocodile god of the Nile, both possibly representing miracles they "replicated"

That's fine. To further show symbolism: in the movie when this song is beginning, one of the priests makes a shadow puppet of a frog just as Heqet's name is said. Just as Serqet is represented by a scorpion sigil in the air, Hemsut is represented by the shadow scorpion, Ra is the first figure in the smoke, Nut stretches over him, etc.

I know this probably wasn't intentional, but it made the visuals even more intimidating and scary (in such a good way): the shots where the men are looking diagonally forward, the dichotomy of their eyes is amazing. Jonathan has light eyes, and his version of crazy eyes is really wide. Caleb has dark eyes, and his version of crazy eyes is more squinted. So what I saw were two version of men possessed and insane, one with "white" eyes and one with "black" eyes. In such good ways. Perfection.

Demon naming, the bible was the first one to call them "egyptian gods" because of the translation but it was implying demons who posed as gods.

I think the only reason he hasn't done it yet is b/c he'd have to best Hans Zimmer, which is hard on its own. Plus, Deliver Us is a good 7 minutes long, which he's never done for a song.

@@Shythalia Whatever made the cut wasn't comedy and it shouldnt have been. They're taking it straight from the Bible, the Bible takes this very seriously. It's a very important part. Moses had no theatrics, he just straight does the miracle unlike them. It's an important detail Moses' snake eats the others. That's 100% biblic actually. So I dont think there's a way it could've ever been comedic from the biblical perspective. Besides it a bit funny how the smale ate them up while the men bragged lol.

I don't know why metal music isn't as appreciated as it should be. It should be normal for their to be heavy moments in Disney musicals. Obviously it makes it more powerful and appealing to villains. This song is so powerful and badass. It's cool in the movie but this takes it to a whole new level. In a perfect world, metal would be more incorporated and accepted in music.
