Ramses is one of the few villains who I hated to see despair, he had a good heart and genuinely loved his brother but was brought up into lacking empathy for slaves, there was so many times watching that movie where I just wished circumstances were different because Ramses wasn’t an evil person, it’s the system that was passed down from generations that was evil.

Agreed. Ramses was not fundamentally evil. He was a product of the times and as pharaoh, if he were to suddenly grant those slaves freedom, he'd have a civil war on his hands, likely resulting in his and his entire family's/servants deaths. Mind you, we're also mixing Fictional Ramses with Historical Ramses.

Just a few notes about aspects of this song that I love: 1. The double meaning behind “thus sayith the lord” from the perspective of Moses, he means God. From the perspective of Ramses, he means himself. Which also works as an example of his arrogance in the face of Gods wrath. 2. The absolutely menacing choir in the background, literally quoting God in the Bible as he sends each plague, and each plague corresponding to a different Egyptian god, demonstrating how immensely powerful Yahweh is in comparison (I am aware that in the movie, it clearly implies that the Egyptian gods don’t exist, but if you read the Bible that is a very debatable subject. Exodus seems to imply that the Egyptian gods were simply weaker deities. Modern Christians might as well just call them demons, if that fits into your interpretation), 3. The pain in Moses’s voice as he wishes that he wasn’t chosen for this duty. It makes him much more relatable and human, even if it’s nowhere close to what he was actually like in the Bible. (He was basically a military commander. He literally had a fucking army at his command, and he fought the Egyptians and Canaanite’s in actual wars).

I personally think of any lower case (g) god as a principality. So yeah, something demonic. Which makes them real but they're like fallen angels that liken themselves to gods. And to humans they will seem like gods because we have no power at all.

Well even though the pagan "gods" were (obviously) not actual gods, there is definitely biblical precedent for fallen angels/demons manipulating people into their worship, worship of nature, ancestors, or anything other than God. The devil's goal is to deface everything that God created, so why not put himself and his followers in positions to claim credit for what God created? Many Christians don't like talking about such things because it takes the focus off of God and Christ (which is entirely right) but the "lore" of this faith can be VERY interesting. While it does distract from what should be the center of attention, it does still support Biblical truth, otherwise it would not be there. Most Christians and churches don't like talking about it. Not really worth diving into though unless you are either a lore nerd like me or want to be an exorcist or something (not me lol). I would also point out that the Bible portrays Moses as more of a leader, spiritual leader particularly, than a military commander. He lead and made decisions but Joshua was more likely the military commander.
@Iluvantir
@Iluvantir Жыл бұрын
The correct understanding of "eloh'im" is: "mighty ones" - three or more, specifically. El is "Mighty One" singular. Eloi is "2 Mighty Ones". Eloh'im is "Three or More Mightly Ones". We translated eloh'im as "God" and capitalised it, to denote the "Most High God", therefore most Christians don't understand that the Bible speaks of many gods. Any being that is not human, or living human, is a mighty one. When Samuel (edit: wrong name, lol) was raised up by the witch on command of King Saul she was terrified, for an eloh'im had risen up. A dead human has more knowledge than a living one, so compared, they are mighty ones. What we now call Angels are "the sons of Eloh'im" and "the council of eloh'im". They are gods as well. The big difference made clear in Scripture is that whilst there are many gods, there is only one who is Eternal and only one who is Creator, creating all other things. The Most High. And he and he alone is to be worshiped. He allowed for fallen angels to become gods over rebellious mankind simply as we'd thrown off him being our God, so we were given bad gods instead, to encourage us to come back to the rule of a just and holy one. So yes, there was at least one national god of Egypt that was (and remains, in a way) an actual being, but it would be called by Christians a fallen angel (not a demon - demons are the spirits of the nephalim, the product of the union between angel and man before the flood that caused the flood. Although, technically, a demon is an eloh'im too, going by the meaning of the hebrew)
@kalebbest
@kalebbest Жыл бұрын
@@Iluvantir Even if this is so the Bible is very clear that only one is supposed to be considered or called God. While there may be other spirits and powers, none are eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent, thus undeserving of the title of "god". Furthermore, any power they do have is entirely reliant on what God allows them to use or do. As it goes, ALL power belongs to God. I do however appreciate your clarification even if I do not wholly agree with it. We must be cautious not to give those that are not God too much credit, especially if the unbeliever or weaker/newer believer could take it out of context.

I suppose that's the idea behind awesome and terrific. That which inspires awe in you should also inspire fear, such things are the realm of cataclysm and wonders. To witness the wrath of God, would surely be the most frightening experience one could have, especially when one considers all the terrors wrought are still all a mercy compared to the slaying of the first born. Additionally, consider that the slaying of the first born was not limited to children, everything and everyone who could.be considered 'the first born' died.

Making an “epic version” of The Plagues is a nightmare difficulty challenge but this is a pretty admirable performance! The main vocals carry stronger emotional intonations which is pretty great! Only thing I’d change is having the plague chant be lower and more airy. Hard to describe but maintaining as much of the otherworldly feel of the original as possible would do wonders.

@@arcanejack God is not Prideful but Humble. He has not sinned once, and will never sin. To sin is to reject God. He is all powerful, but do you really think he is going to just fix all of our mistakes for us all the time. What we do to the planet is our fault, and especially when it’s on such a mass scale because countless people share in the carelessness that led to this problem. Even a lot of the people who call it out as a problem probably add to it too. Besides if God just fixed things like that for us, humanity would not all of a sudden be better of, after a while we would probably just end up doing it again and maybe even forget about what God did for us. God showing himself to the whole world to just flat out “prove” his existence to everyone wouldn’t work either. In the past he had shown himself to people a lot more and despite everything he’s done, even giving us his one and only Son, that he lived with us, showed us the truth, overcame all of our struggles, and did not sin one time, even in the smallest of ways, and even died for us on the cross to save us from our sins, and then rose up again on the 3rd day and even showed himself to a lot of people after. People still forget, don’t believe, and ask for proof. It didn’t even stop after Jesus rose and went up to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father; there have been more miracles since then. Whether or people believe or not is there choice. Ultimately, besides not being affective, God showing himself to everyone would go against the fact that we must have Faith in God.

Okay bare with me on this. l've been reading the Bible lately and I got to the story of Moses, so it turns out that Moses wasn't very good a public speaking so God sent him with his brother in law "Aaron" so Moses would preform the miracles while Aaron would talk to the people on his behalf. Now part of the reason that their were so many pluages was because every time moses would start any of the the Pharoahs magicians would show that they could do the same, so the pluages had to keep escalating. So now all I want to see is a movie featuring the hip hop version of the story of exodus where Moses engages in really intense magical rap battles aided by his hype man A-A-ron. This why I wasn't allowed back to Sunday school as a kid.

It's been my favorite animated movie of all times for years, just because I haven't seen such a level of quality in a long time with ANYTHING from any studio so far. And, even as an atheist, it gives the bible stories a fascinating spin without feeling disrespectful in any way. Something that is hard to do in modern days, since so many people get easily offended with their beliefs. It was one of the few things I could talk about with my schoolmates that are devoted Christians. And they accepted my skeptic viewpoints, just as much as I accepted the fact that the bible stories are an amazing read nonetheless.

Yeah but they would probably get canceled. Which is a shame because TPOE is a god-tier masterpiece(pun unintended), as well as Joseph, King of Dreams. Seriously, that is an underrated gem, and I can understand why. TPOE casts a long shadow and JKOD's overall lighter tone is often overpowered by the darker, more serious TPOE. It's basically Marvel vs DC but with Biblical animated films(just came up with that lol. I know I know, I'm awesome😆). But just because JKOD doesn't have the same 'epic-ness' as TPOE doesn't mean it doesn't deserve some love. The animation is just as gorgeous and the songs are beautiful (again, not nearly as epic as the TPOE songs, but still great and fit the movie's tone. 'You Know Better Than I' will always be my favorite song from that movie)
