Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown reviewed by Phil Hornshaw on PC, also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown captures not only what made games such as The Sands of Time so good, but it irons out a lot of the little issues that plagued the 3D games in this series by opting for a 2D perspective - and owning it. It also works extremely well as a traditional Metroidvania, sticking with tried-and-true elements of the genre but executing on them with precision. The story can feel a bit jumbled at times, but it's the fast and fun combat system, the tight and satisfying controls, and the stylish look and feel that elevate Sargon’s journey and make The Lost Crown a worthy successor to the best of the Prince of Persia legacy.

This game isn’t just fun and great but for the first time in history there is Persian/Farsi dub and translation. This also makes sense since the game takes place in the ancient Persia

2008 was pretty underrated...Playing it now through RPCS3 for the 2nd time and it still is a very enjoyable platformer true to the POP formula. Glad that the franchise gets more recognition.

2008 is the best by far. Platforming and art style wise no single POP comes close to it. Even in terms of combat it was a great one. Made encounters feel more importan, specially the bosses.

Montpellier (Rayman, Valiant Hearts, Lost Crown, Child of Light) & Milan (Mario + Rabbids) are the only talented studios Ubisoft still has. Unfortunatly, majority of Montpellier staff is trap in the development hell of BGE2 & last game from Milan flopped....

Tried the demo on Switch, and was quite impressed. I'm generally terrible at Metrodvania type platformers, but the demo shows a lot of polish, and it controls very fluidly. Of course, it's set in an early part of the game, so there's nothing particularly difficult yet. There's even a few hidden areas if you take the time to explore. The graphics may not be the most cutting edge out there, but the art direction is lovely, and some of the level design look like homages to the original SNES POP as well as Sands of Time. Performance on the Switch is dead smooth: this is the first Switch game in a long while that's able to maintain 60fps. The Lost Crown is more a throwback to the original 1989 Prince of Persia than what came later, even if there's also a lot of influences from Sands of Time. It's basically a POP take on Ori and The Blind Forest/Will of The Wisps. If you enjoyed the Ori games, then this is going to be up your alley. But if you're expecting a true spiritual sequel to the Sands of Time series or the 2008 reboot, this isn't it.

There are Persians with partial african admixture, like in certain areas of the province of hormozgan. Not all look north middle eastern, some can look mixed with white, asian or black as well once in a while.

This game is such an interesting blend of ideas. You have the combat and exploration of Metroid Dread, the platforming of Celeste, weapons system of Zelda, and the in depth world of Assassin's Creed. All tied together with a perfect amount of polish (at least gameplay wise). It's about time Ubisoft gives one of their neglected franchises a worthy entry

That story was probably made up by herodotus. There are two stories about how Cyrus the great died, one was that the other being that Cyrus just died from old age at Perspolis. Having said that prince of Persia has always been a mishmash of Persian history, not actual stories or timelines.

Sounds like it should've been a 9. FYI, SoT was not the original PoP, the original had difficult combat, traps, and a time limit. Complaining about there being no time rewind feature is dumb. I'm stoked for this and can't wait to play it.

They nailed the story harder than the Dagger of Time the Hourglass that caused quite the ruckus in SoT. The Lost Crown's story is suoer epic and takes itself serious enough as it should. BTW it comes with twists and surprises that are mind-blowingly awesome and should be appreciated and done more. At last, the gameplay really is great and so are visuals and music and the Story really takes the high spot here alongside everything m, cuz thus game is just the greatest PoP in all aspects.

Im at 10h ish, its a fun game but there is a lot of technical issue(pc) and bosses while are fun to fight are kinda too simple with 2-3 scripted attack. Yes a 8 is pretty accurate
