Only partly. It's true that she wore the outfit but it wasn't her choice, it was what she was given by the student fashion designer. The bit where Kate is looking calculatedly through the rack of clothing to choose the most seductive outfit didn't happen. I'd love to know the name of the student fashion designer who handed Kate their outfit to wear and in doing so changed the course of history 😀

The show didn’t go into their dating history nor their marriage. It focused on their initial years in university right up until they got the first rental together with others. The tv show went no further than that.

They didn't have to go through the break since we already know they end together. The main reason William made her wait was because he wanted to acclimate her to what it's going to be really like being his wife. Sure enough, the media terrorized her like they did Diana, to the point where the RF had to get a restraining order from them. She clearly waited enough.
