Half in/half out would inevitably result in monetizing the monarchy. It would never be clear if they were representing the monarchy or their own interests. It's unworkable.

Half in/half out inevitably means using the monarchy to make money which is a complete No no! Once you do that the Monarchy becomes “for sale to the highest bidder. Which is what the Harkles have always wanted. They see the Monarchy as a way to make huge amounts of money, not as serving the people. The two cannot be reconciled. It will be the end of it.

Why is the focus on how the conversation was characterized rather than on the HURT that Meghan felt in learning that the subject of skin tone was even negatively discussed? No, No, No. No way that William should ever forget. Here is what he should say - I love my brother and I wish him all the best. However, at times for your own mental health and that of your family you must end negative relationships, even when you love the other person involved. I am not asking my father, the wider family or friends that we share to choose between me and Harry, however, I will not tolerate discussions about me or my family to others and I will not discuss this situation again with anyone. There is no war on my side, there is no relationship. The anguish and hurt that this entire situation caused our grandmother, the late Queen and our grandfather the late Duke of Edinburgh in their final years is beyond reprehensible. I was fully aware of just how much Harry's public pronouncements hurt them and it was unimaginably hurtful to witness it after all they had given to our family.. Our grandparents step up to support me and Harry after the death of our mother and they did not deserve the attacks on the institution they devoted their entire lives to. The stress on our father, our stepmother, my wife and even my children has make it impossible for me to engage in reconciliation at this time, if ever. The only reason for this statement is to end the constant speculation of will they or won't they reconcile. I was also a young when Harry and I lost our mother. While, he may not have realized it, I did my best to support and care for him as best I could, knowing that is what our mother would have expected from me. If Harry is ever in any difficulty and needs my help, oj course I will do my best for him. I do wish Harry and Meghan the best whether they choose to believe it or not or choose to say otherwise. There is nothing I can say or do if they continue their attacks on my family either. To my mind this is an unnecessary public drama that could have been and should have been handled inside the family instead of being sold to the highest bidder. Again, this is only my view of the matter and this is the only time I will speak of it publicly regardless of any future actions on their part that are often meant to draw us into a public fight which I refuse to engage in. I care deeply about my role serving the people of the UK and Commonwealth and I feel blessed to be supported by the family members who have worked so hard in support of the Monarchy. All of my attention, effort and care will be devoted to those two areas of my life for all of my life.

@@John-nc4bl First, the King does NOT "reign" over Britain. Centuries ago, he or she did. Not any more. The modern institution is much different. This is a CONSTITUTIONAL monarchy--much different from centuries ago. The old monarchy (like in Henry VIII's time), was an ABSOLUTE monarchy. That no longer exists in Britain. The modern monarchy is also called a LIMITED or DEMOCRATIC monarchy. Per Wikipedia, the monarch "exercises their authority in accordance with a constitution and is not alone in decision making. " There are limits on what the monarch can do--set by their constitution. What I have seen is that the British monarch does not go against Parliament (which functions kind of like the US Congress). There is also a prime Minister (not exactly, but kind of like the US president). These are elected positions. The Parliament wields the power and the UK is considered democratic (well, the US is a republic), but the idea of the people having the final power is the same. The British monarchy fulfills a different role now than from centuries past. The Brits already are modernizing their monarchy and there will likely be more changes in the future. BTW many countries still have a monarchy, and they are of different types. Again per Wikipedia, there are 43 sovereign states in the World with a monarch as head of state. In addition, the Commonwealth is made up of 56 countries, with some having the British Monarch as their Head of State (but not ruling the country). (I may not have the number exactly right, but there are still a lot of them.) It is a complex institution.

The commonwealth has no clear role; it confers no trade privileges upon its members, does not coordinate their defense or foreign policy, and lacks both the budget and the executive authority to make a practical difference in the world. Life within a commonwealth is not equal. Some people have advantages including wealth over others. People with wealth and influence within a commonwealth tend to fare better than people with few resources and no input into the community. Some people are better positioned to receive more money, and other people are better connected politically and socially. IT SHOULD BE ABOLISHED as well as the old English monarchy with its awful history and prison-like lifestyle for its inhabitants.

As someone who is a member of "the British public" please don't lump us all together... I love & support our wonderful Prince & Princess of Wales & am happy to "give them a break", especially while Catherine, the Princess of Wales fully recovers. As far as I can see nobody is criticising William apart from the Sussex squad & Harry's Wife's mouthpiece, Scabies. William IS having a difficult time but is amazing & will make a wonderful king in the future but for now should concentrate his energies as he is. Repeating misinformation & how his actions are falsely perceived is not helping matters & certainly not aiding in the recovery of those unwell.

William was far closer to his mother than Harry. William was her confidant and sat outside her bathroom door passing her tissues when she couldn’t handle life in the Royal family. That is a documented fact and I think it was very emotional for a young teenager to carry that load, this probably also contributed to Harry being jealous of that bond. I am so sick and tired of people saying poor Harry lost his mother, I think William was just a more stable person and handled it much better in public.

William also grew to understand the other side of his mother. He refused to speak to her for a long time after the BBC interview she gave. She had lied to him about her relationship with Heweit and revealed the truth on worldwide TV. That had to be a big wake up moment for him. I think his understanding of his mother is well balanced and he doesn't get off into the fantasy about his mother that the media has created for decades for average public.

You are wrong about the fact that Diana cried over the treatment by the Royal family . Royal family did no such thing to Diana.. Diana did it to herself when she embarked on having affairs with all sorts of people and when they left her due to her excesses fearing for their reputation that Diana became hysterical and cried. Poor William had to take all that burden and also protect Harry from it all by keeping him out of the way. It is true that he had to go through all that. These men were introduced to them Uncle so and so. Prince Harry learned about these things later on from Eton where his friends gossiped about his mother. Media made it very difficult for the boys. William takes it well because he knew the truth. But Harry wants to blame everyone else than his mother's own infidelities.

Harry has endured some tough times without question; and been viewed through a fickle lens by the public/media that’s often extremely critical. But his ‘pain’ doesn’t include the grinding poverty, illness, brutality and broken spirit when all one person needed was just someone to believe in them, or give them a crucial opportunity to live a better life. Often a pitiful amount of money makes a huge difference because it’s respected and will be used the way it’s intended; not in a mega million dollar mansion with a ludicrous amount of bathrooms etc for a family of four. Finally some acknowledgement that William lost his mother and suffered too! The queen was not too tough. They were allowed to keep the titles, and referred to as "much loved family members." Harry started this, kept it going and even in the GMA interview said "'I have my own family". That was said with no sadness or anything. I wish people would stop excusing Harry's actions. How can J even suggest that Harry work with the Commonwealth. Remember the Netflix documentary and Empire 2.0? I also wish people would not call her a feminist. I'd write off my sibling too if they treated me and my family even half as dreadfully and Harry and Meghan have treated William and his family. Harrys attack against the RF is not so much due to his mother's tragic death but his perceived unfair treatment of what he would get in comparison to William. If he would have his way, he would want an equal share as William to the duchy of Cornwall. The family was in exiled, yet the father abandoned the family for another woman, and his mother Princess Alice who was deaf, was sent to a mental institution and PP grew under care of various relations till Lord Mountbatten took him under his wings. PP grew up a fine gentleman, and honourable war veteran, serving served in the thick of war on the Royal naval battleship. Whereas, as a veteran, harry disgraced the war veterans by allowing that older woman ragland in her disrespectful attire of shorts and flip-flops lead the veterans in the closing march. Does he being a war veteran exempt him from any mistakes. Does his losing his mother excuse him from any actions he take as a middle age balding man? They actually never said they wanted privacy. What they meant was they wanted to live public lives where they were in control of the press narrative, and they blamed the palace for not achieving this for them. Half in half out didnt mean public service for a few moths and private lives the rest of the year. What it meant was attending a few carefully selected high profile events (balconies and the like, not opening primary schools) and then using the glow of royalty to merchandise and charge for public speaking gigs. This is why the Queen said categorically NO. You cant profit from the royal family association. They simply do to understand the public constitutional role the monarchy has and why it would be wrong to merchandise products with the sussex royal logo or attend events where it wouldn't be clear whether their role was private (half out) or representing the monarch (half in).

Meghan thought the royal family was like the Princess Diaries and was distraught when she realised that's Hollywood fantasy. Harry doesnt have the educational background to fully grasp what a constitutional monarchy represents. Neither of them understood their role. If they had moved away and got rich person jobs like property portfolios or art gallery management, no one would care, but their constant rebranding is exhausting and no one believes any of it anymore

I would like Megan to succeed, but her experience is very limited. She was a cable TV actress, and that involves turning up and saying your lines. Oh, and a small movie, I think. I think she has only limited production experience. She had a large Netflix team and same thing with Spotify, and they still did not produce all that much for 4 years. Spotify was so boring IMO. The evidence from generations of this one Royal family alone is that the expectations of being a Royal aren't compatible with being a mentally healthy, well human being. Does nobody remember the drama between the late Queen Elizabeth and her sister, Margaret? Lordy, you'd think listening to this that Harry and William are the very first royal sibling set to have serious problems. They aren't. Instead of doing contortions, the solution is probably to Abolish the Monarchy or just recognize it as a proper job with working hours and duties that are limited like any other type of punch-in, punch-out job...with an approprately scaled-down lifestyle. Dear Jenny the late queen made no mistake, she saw straight through Megan. she gave them a year to change their mind and return, also suggesting Megan could carry on acting. Queen Elizabeth did everything possible to keep them inside.

MONARCHY mini issue= cost of living, training for young people, increase of defence spending , getting a functional caring parliament etc....are the BIG ISSUES....self indulgent family....trim down the Monarchy to a Scandanavian style monarchy......rest twiddle twaddle.

Jennie Bond missed an opportunity to tell H&M to move on from the RF. H&M destroyed themselves by fixating on the RF these past 3 years. Now that they are floundering they want back into the RF. Why should the RF trust them ever again?

IF William considers Harry a "Non-person in his life", why is that terribly sad? Sad for whom? I had a couple of family members that I often wondered "who raised you", because they were so different from the rest of us in behaviors/attitudes/common decency. They effectively drove our parents apart, the sent siblings scattering to get away from them. Do I miss them at all? No. I feel no guilt over not missing them. I suspect William wonders "what is wrong with Harry's brain that makes him act so terrible", but, I also believe that William and the royal family know Harry's diagnosis from doctor's Harry saw as he grew up. There should be NO guilt for William in the least. You should not feel guilt for ridding yourself of an abusive, destructive human being. I think Harry is lucky that William hasn't written his own TRUE book of "What Is Wrong About Harry" and spilled all the info he has on him. William should not feel "I owe" anything to Harry.
