Throughout the 80s and 90s, there was one name and one face you couldn’t avoid. Diana, Princess of Wales. When her whirlwind marriage and subsequent divorce from Prince Charles thrust her into the public spotlight, she took it in her stride and grew into her new role as a global celebrity.
When freed from the shackles of royal restrictions, Diana’s life after the palace allowed her to connect with millions of people worldwide as a mother, humanitarian and fashion icon. Her unrivalled capacity for moving the dial and changing the narrative on causes and issues she cared about became the catalyst that legitimised her posthumous sobriquet, the People’s Princess.
And even today, 25 years on, Diana’s legacy continues to influence people worldwide, and she remains one of the most popular members of the royal family.

She was such a poised, beautiful classy woman. She was an asset to that family. I wish it had worked out for her, but sadly it didn’t. They were too different, but he could have tried harder. She was just a kid, really, expected to adapt to a life she wasn’t prepared for. She was special. He didn’t see it.

The age I am now. 36. I can't imagine it. When she died I was a child and I'll never forget my mother crying on her knees in front of the TV. My Mum idolised her. And so then did I. Every time I see Diana's image I get teary eyed, more so now that my Mum died of Cancer in 2020. A disease Diana poured so much into highlighting and fighting against like she did HIV.

I just loved this woman when I was a very young child in the 80s. My mom says we watched the wedding when I was 1. I never remember a world without her and I just thought she was Disney princess ridiculously stupid gorgeous. And on top of that she seemed so so sweet. As a little girl, I felt like I KNEW she would give me a big warm hug and then sing a beautiful song to me and then a bird would land on our fingers lol. I'm just remembering my very earliest little girl thoughts. But I continued to love her as a teenager. I knew she had the eating disorder and that was something I understood personally. And I knew she was going through a sad divorce but I thought she would definitely find someone more handsome who actually loved her. And then when mom my and I went over to England right after I graduated high school, we spent a summer there. And she died just immediately after we returned. We were still jet lagged. And I'll just never forget how devastated we were. My mom actually screamed when the news announced the princess had died. We both burst into tears. To this day, when I see her shaking the hands of people in the hospital and holding a young child, I just cry. What a loss. I know she wasn't perfect. I know she had flaws. She was so honest about her flaws too. And it honestly makes me love her even more. I'll always always always be so so sorry that she's gone.

It wouldn't have been so bad or people thinking badly of Charles, if he had of tried to make a happy and peaceful life with Diana. He was so distant and cold towards her from the very beginning. He made his choice, but couldn't think of anyone but himself. I admire her for holding her head up high, against all the animosity she received from the Rf.

I don't believe half of what Paul Burrell says. I think he can say anything he wants now that Diana is gone and cannot refute what he claims to be true. I think he is trying to get media attention and has since she died. He tries to make himself seem more important to her than he probably was. Just my opinion.

He was very important to her and indeed the Queen, that's not to be denied, you might not want to believe it but it's undeniable. We can't possibly know what's true of what he says, he's never said anything implausible or been caught lying. For instance he kept repeating "I KNOW Hewitt isn't Harrys father because I drove her to her dates and know when they were" while that rumour was kicking about. That turned out true. But he's for sure trying to beat that dead horse for money. No doubt. He could shut up, but it's a nice cash cow. Not even sure I blame him. He's not disrespectful at least.

Don't marry someone you don't know. Diana was in love with her fantasy of Charles. They didn't know each other. It was an arranged marriage and not a love match. Both failed to meet each others expectations and needs. Their relationship became increasingly toxic and both were miserable.

I grew up with her. She was one year older then me. I watched the wedding, saw her becoming a superstar, and watched the marriage of the century fall apart. And I cried when she died. It felt like I lost someone I knew. I watched Charles beeing crowned. And Camilla. Whenever I see them both together I feel angry. I know they love each other and they belong together. But I still get mad, after all those years. She was close to me. She was somebody I understood. They ll never be.

@@juanitamayers8889 No matter that she is divorced, yes Diana is dead, but will always stay in the peoples hearts in Britain, her death caused an out pouring of grief, by the British people, who were also aware that Charles never loved her, only his mistress Camila who he married straight after Diana was dead? They even got booed at on there wedding day as well, be the many in the crowds as well. They were not happy that he did that, no respect for his dead wife on her death .It also shows that he never loved Diana only his Mistress, and as he was now King in Britain, had her crowned his Queen? what an insult to Diana, and the people of England as well. I like many thing we should now do away with the royals, because we pay from our taxes there life of Luxury, with the Royal Palaces they live in, and the Royal cars they are driven around with, as well as all the staff they have in these palaces they live in. staff that wait on them, Staff that cook for them, staff that make there beds the next morning, No wonder Camila wanted to be in that Position, after Diana was dead. and that is what she got and wanted. Henri Paul was the driver in the Mercedes. Henri was an employee of the Ritz hotel and not a professional driver. Trevor Reece Jones was an employee of Dodi al Fayed. Diana had refused security services offered by the royal family because she believed they were spying on her. Dodi and Henri planned the departure from the Ritz hotel. Nobody else knew when they were leaving and the route they were taking. Sneaking out the back door and speeding away prompted the paparazzi to chase them. A brief photo session before leaving would have provided the paparazzi with photos and avoided the chase. Henri was intoxicated and speeding at around 60 to 80 mph in a 30-mile hour zone. There was a fiat uno car in the tunnel ahead of them and Henri swerved to avoid rear ending the fiat. He lost control of the Mercedes and struck the 13th pillar at high speed. Striking a solid unmovable object at high speed is deadly. At a lower speed Henri may have stayed in control of the Mercedes. At a lower speed the crash would not have been as deadly. A series of poor decisions contributed to the accident. The accident was thoroughly investigated. First by the French and there was a British inquest in 2008. All possibilities of an assassination were explored and dismissed. All investigations concluded Henri Paul caused the accident.

The mistress of her husband was old enough to be her mother. The husband who was to be hers, was also going to be a king one day, but was a wreck less short sighted person. He could not stand a woman so innocent around him! He married someone who is like him. Diana went about a way she never planned until the Good Lord took her while her lovely sons carried on her descendants. She is at peace now, which many won’t achieve ever.

Sandrine, Diana was known to say what she wanted people to believe. Her tell-all book and her BBC Panorama interview were extremely biased and one-sided. Diana intended to hurt and undermine Charles. Her fans are continuing to undermine Charles. The truth is more complicated. Diana was not the innocent victim that she has been portrayed to be. Charles and Camilla are not evil villains. You don't need to hate Charles and Camilla in order to love Diana. The marriage between Charles and Diana was an arranged marriage and not a love match.. Diana could have said no. She should have said no if she wasn't planning to follow the royal family rules/protocol. They didn't really know each other before the wedding. They were not compatible. Both failed to meet each others expectations and needs. Their relationship was increasingly toxic and both were miserable by 1985. Charles had ended his intimate relationships with all the women he was seeing including Camilla just before the wedding. He intended to make the marriage work when he said his vows. The honeymoon was a disaster. Diana had unrealistic expectations and was disappointed and angry. She was binge eating and purging multiple times a day and crying. She had a destructive outburst and Charles was alarmed. He found a therapist for her before the honeymoon was over. Diana refused therapy. Charles retreated to reading his books. The marriage didn't have a good beginning. Diana was not the easygoing and cooperative person she pretended to be before the wedding. Charles wasn't the Prince Charming of Diana's dreams. The smell of vomit is not an afridesiac. I believe Charles was sympathetic at first but became irritated and disgusted by Diana's bulimia and other self-destructive behaviors. Especially since she refused professional help. She threatened to harm herself to get attention. She tried to commit suicide when she was pregnant with William. Diana had many of the traits and symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). She saw herself as a victim. Diana refused to follow many of the royal family rules and it caused conflict in the marriage and in the royal family. Charles's efforts to encourage Diana to follow the rules were perceived as criticism and mistreatment. It was Diana's perception that she was being mistreated. ~~~~~~ Diana was very emotionally needy and Charles was never prepared and not available to provide the level of attention Diana wanted. Diana was lonely. Her bodyguard was there providing the attention Diana craved. Diana was in love with her bodyguard Barry Mannakee in 1985-1986. When Charles became informed he ended his intimate relationship with Diana. Otherwise it would be possible for Diana to have a child by another man and pass the child off as an heir to the throne. That would be high treason. Charles ended his intimate relationship with Diana before renewing his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986. Diana said she knew when Charles rekindled his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986. Charles wanted a divorce. Diana didn't because she had been traumatized by her parents fighting and divorce. Plus, Diana didn't want a give up the benefits of being married to Charles. She liked living in a palace with servants. She liked wearing the royal family jewelry. She liked having fashion designers create clothing for her. She liked having a professional makeup artist do her hair and makeup every morning and before events. She liked being wealthy. She liked being a worldwide popular celebrity. A lot changed after the divorce. They informally separated in 1986. They officially separated in 1992. ~~~~~~ Diana admitted she had an affair with James Hewitt starting in 1986. She couldn't deny it because Hewitt's 1st book about their affair was published in 1994. Diana had 8 or more affairs before the divorce was final in 1996. Most of her affairs didn't last very long. She had difficulty sustaining relationships. She was often at odds with her family. Some of her affairs were with married men and the tabloids labeled Diana a home wrecker. Diana knowingly hurt Will Carling's and Oliver Hoare's wives. She was not a Saint. She was responsible for her own decisions and actions. Diana's reputation was tarnished by the tabloid reports of her affairs with married men. I believe Diana blamed Camilla for the problems in the marriage in her 1995 BBC Panorama interview to divert attention away from her affairs. She wanted to destroy Charles's reputation. She wanted public support and sympathy. In her effort to destroy Charles she risked damaging the monarchy and William's future. The BBC interview prompted the queen to request the divorce. Basically Diana was fired from her position in the royal family for being disloyal to the monarchy. Tash talking and undermining members of the royal family is against protocol. Diana was not a supportive and loyal member of the royal family.

Not true. Diana's childhood dream was to marry into the royal family. Their 2nd meeting was arranged by the queen mother and Diana's grandmother. Both were invited to an event in Sussex and Diana knew Charles would be there. Diana approached Charles. Their 3rd meeting was at Balmoral. Diana was invited for a weekend at Balmoral, so the queen could evaluate Diana to determine if she would fit in with the family and the royal family business. Diana's family coached her so she could pass the Balmoral test (job interview). Diana pretended to like Balmoral and the family activities. She pretended to be easygoing and cooperative. If she had been honest there would not have been a 4th meeting. Diana lied to get the queen's approval. Diana didn't like Balmoral and the family activities. She was not easygoing and cooperative. Instead Diana was competitive and overshadowed the royal family. Diana was not a supportive and loyal member of the royal family.

Nativer, Over the past 12 months I have seen numerous documentaries and videos. I've read several articles. I use goggle and research information to confirm or deny information about Diana and Charles. I also remember that the tabloids reported on Diana's multiple affairs. I'm close to Charles's age. Diana was a very complicated person. She became exceptionally good at gaining publicity for her assigned charities, humanitarian causes, and herself. She created a very positive public image of herself. Her private life was very different from her public image. Diana struggled with mental problems caused by her extremely unhappy childhood. There are articles and books written about Diana's mental health. One book is Diana in Search of Herself by Sally Bedell Smith. Charles had a number of doctors see Diana trying to help her. Most diagnosed her with extreme depression and bulimia. In 1981, a doctor diagnosed Diana with borderline personality disorder (BPD). She had many of the traits and symptoms of BPD. Living with Diana was an emotional roller-coaster. She was often at odds with her family. She had difficulty sustaining relationships. She had 8 or more affairs before the divorce was final. Most of her affairs didn't last very long. Some of her affairs were with married men. Diana was not a Saint. Her longest affair was with James Hewitt. He talked about her extreme emotional neediness and obsessiveness. He said Diana phoned him ten times a day. ~~`~~~ I've come to the conclusion that most of the videos created by Diana's fans are based on Diana's tell-all book and her BBC Panorama interview. Both were intended to hurt and undermine Charles. Diana said what she wanted people to believe and it wasn't fully truthful. Her fans are continuing to undermine Charles and Camilla. Have you seen the UNEDITED version of Peter Settelen's video called Diana Revealed? It's very informative. Diana said she knew when Charles rekindled his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986. Diana said they had fleeting moments of happiness but it was pretty much over after Harry was born. In the video Diana talked about being deeply in love with someone working at the palace. She was talking about her bodyguard Barry Mannakee. It was her relationship with Mannakee in 1985-1986 that prompted Charles to end his intimate relationship with Diana in 1986. Diana and Charles informally separated in 1986. Diana admitted she had an affair with James Hewitt starting in 1986. She couldn't deny it because Hewitt's 1st book about their affair was published in 1994. Charles's 1994 confession was prompted by the 1993 Camillagate scandal. Charles confessed his marriage was irretrievably broken down by 1986 and that's when he renewed his intimate relationship with Camilla. Irretrievably broken down referred to the conflict in the marriage and Diana's relationship with her bodyguard. Will Carling's wife talked about her divorce caused by Diana. Oliver Hoare's wife threatened to divorce him. Diana tried to break up Oliver Hoare's marriage. Oliver ended the affair and Diana behaved very badly. She was harassing them. It was investigated and it determined that Diana made over 300 crank phone calls to Oliver's house.

Unfortunately outshining the royal family wasn't in her position (job) description. Spouses of royals are required to be supportive and avoid drawing too much attention to themselves. Diana was not a supportive and loyal member of the royal family. Instead she was competitive. She created a very positive public image of herself. She even competed with the queen for public attention. That's a big no-no. Diana drew attention to herself. She became a fashion diva and was the most photographed woman in the 1980s and 1990s. She overshadowed the royal family and hogged the spotlight. Then she trash talked the royal family in her BBC Panorama interview. Sharing the family dirty laundry with the public is against the rules. In her effort to destroy Charles's reputation she risked damaging the monarchy and William's future. Plus, good parents don't air their marriage problems where their children will hear it and be embarrassed. William was embarrassed and angry at Diana. The BBC Panorama interview prompted the queen to request the divorce. Basically Diana was fired from her position in the royal family for being disloyal to the monarchy.

Diana began her relationship with charities because it was part of her assigned royal duties. She was assigned patronage for 30 to 100 charities. She was most active between 1992 and 1996. After the divorce she was reduced to 6 charities. Diana was exceptionally good at gaining publicity for charities, humanitarian causes, and herself. By 1984 she understood the value and power of the public media. She made connections with the paparazzi to ensure maximum publicity for her activities. She was very successful in creating a positive public image. Her primary effort was public relations and publicity. In one video she talked about going to most of her assigned charities once a year. Many of her visits were publicity stunts that drew attention to charities and humanitarian causes. The cameras were there and the publicity made her an extremely popular celebrity. The big difference between Diana and the other royals is Diana got more publicity.
