I cry each time I hear this. I am a 70 year old hardy Scotsman but it always reminds me of the day I was a wee boy and came across my mother crying because she had not enough to feed us. Such a heart rendering song and so sublime !

I'm so grateful for these videos from this concert being posted, as i attended this concert. It was £10 for the ticket. We got to see young Eric, The Who (performing Quadrophenia for the first time in years), Bob Dylan (who was dreadful) and teh Alanis Morrisette. Clapton owned the entire night, it is etched in my memory as a favourite moment.

I listen to this at least once everyday. I've played it in the parking lot of the National Shrine to Our Lady of Good Help. It's a beautiful, amazing place that I've been privileged to go to since a small child. I'm 71, my parents , grand parents friends & relatives have been going there for decades. Located in Wisconsin.

👏 🎤 🎸 I never get tired of listening to him perform this song! The lyrics are so meaningful for many people around the world 🌍 - and different personal reasons. I’m just about 70 now and grew up listening to Clapton’s music - and still 💕 it. Eric performed this in a beautiful duet with Pavarotti in a ‘Pavarotti and Friends’ benefit concert that imo was even more impressive. BUT THIS is still 🌟!

Song is about becoming sober. He was watching purple rain in Canada. Never knew who Prince was and he wrote this song after seeing the movie and taking control of his sobriety.

David your response is so heartfelt this song helps me with my alcoholism. I wish I had heard it before 1999 where it sank in but God sent this song to me as a daily reminder.
