Yes I love this method too, I usually export from Procreate as PSD to my google drive open up on my desktop in Affinity Designer and export as what the print on demand wants and change to CMYK and export. Since I have Affinity Designer on the IPad too, I will do it this way today. Thank you for sharing your expertise 😊

Thank you for your informative video. I am trying to figure out what resolution we can use in Procreate to be able to print up to even A0 size (33.1 x 46.8inch)? What color profile we can use in Procreate while selecting the canvas, now that CMYK profiles are available too? I have done some good paintings in Procreate using 4096 x 4096 px and P3 color profile, but not sure if I am able to convert these to printing on big canvas up to A0 size. Thank you very much again.

Same with mine. This is a small bit of info on the topic, “To save the CMYK file as a PNG, will cause it to be converted into RGB when it is saved. The PNG file format was designed for screen use, not for printing and it does not support CMYK color mode- any PNG file saved from a CMYK file will be converted to RGB color mode.” “The CMYK colour space on the other hand is a colour space that has been designed for reproduction work through formats such as TIFF, PSD and JPEG.” I’m assuming this may be a reason it is changing the color. So try saving it in one of the files that support CMYK.

Very informative. I'm trying to set up printing to get the colours that I'm wanting from my ipad, how would you go about printing these images? Would you send them to the printer as singular TIFF files, or would you compile them in something else? Also how would you go about resizing them for printing?
@iPadCalligraphy
@iPadCalligraphy 5 жыл бұрын
Once you have the artwork prepared (ie. the steps shown in the video), you can print the image at home if you have an AirPrint compatible printer. Otherwise you can send to a desktop computer and print from there. Single TIF files would work fine. Re resizing, it depends by how much, you'll see quality loss if you enlarge the dimensions and resolution. It's much easier if you set the artwork up correctly initially. Obviously it can't be helped retrospectively. Try following the last step in the video - export from Procreate and import into the canvas size you require in Affinity - that should adjust the dimensions for you. You can also use Photoshop on a desktop if you have access. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.

Hi there I was wanting to know can you do a video concerning anyone who wants to provide three different sizes of their artwork through Procreate. For example, I only art business, and I really want to start turning my artwork into digital file that people can start downloading and buying online but I just want to offer three sizes small medium and large. Frame sizes: 8x10, 11x14, 18x24. How would I size my canvass on Procreate app for those specific frame sizes for people to print? I don’t know if I make any sense but I hope I do. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it.
@iPadCalligraphy

Thanks for your question! It depends on what kind of artwork you create and what the end user would get. Is your artwork in full colour or black and white? If you’re just wanting them to print the files out, you could provide a ‘PDF’ format. You would then make your document size at the 3 different sizes, and import your artwork into each size, then export as a PDF. You need to make sure you create the artwork at the largest size out of the 3 options though so it won’t lose quality when you resize it. Does that help? Feel free to provide more info so I can help you better. Thanks!

But, the colour is very muted when printed and it's a brand new printer. Hi @inspirinkpress Thanks for your question. You’re not doing anything wrong. Yes, it depends if this is something you are doing often enough to warrant spending money on it. As mentioned in the video, Adobe Photoshop will do the job also but the price for that is $30 per month, so the one-off cost of Affinity is definitely cheaper. Affinity is also useful for vectorising artwork which a lot of people need to do + keeps things on the iPad for those who don't own a desktop computer. There's obviously many ways to do things, but I try and find something that suits most of people when aiming for pro quality. There a free tool online you can try if you want to avoid the cost of the app - www.rgb2cmyk.org

Try searching online for a CMYK colour palette. You can find swatches that are only CMYK matched colours. Pull from these when creating a piece and you'll get a closer result. Images will always be different between screen and print to some degree though. You're looking at back lit pixels on a screen and ink and paper printed - there will be a darker, duller feel.
