Finally got around to rebuilding my custom 1800 style mechanical keyboard. She isn't perfect, but overall I'm very happy with the outcome!

The cutting frequency harmonising with your background music at 6:36 is quite pleasing.

To anyone that reads this in the future as to why I didn't do a typing test. I had a handful of issues assmeblying the board, and ended up with clearance issues and the split space bars. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact the split space bars in the ePBT keycaps set are bad quality, or that I'm not using a dedicated PCB for the whole board, or if my tolerances are off, but they would hit the bottom trim piece. I'll be going back and doing some design changes at some point, however I've decided to shelve the project for now.

Excellent video, and amazing finished product! Would love to see a video where you go in-depth on how you designed (CAD and CAM) this product - how you chose toolpaths, how you chose end mills, etc.

@@ProjectsbyBrian You can get some from aliexpress for super cheap, made for wood. According to hoges it works great for alu and is like 22-30mm diameter. Just a few bucks for those, i impulse-bought like 4 haha

If youtube would allow to subscribe multiple times - i would do it! Awesome! One thing i would suggest is to consider upgrading your machine with an MQL for metals.

That is so neat. How about adding a wrist rest to it? Attach using strong neodymium magnet so it don't spoil the keyboard's ori look.

Next time for the screws on the back, maybe use flathead screws and countersink the holes for a flush finished?

This looks awesome! Hoping to design and make my own 60% case in the next couple of months. Hoping to get my mill running well during that time. Glad my machine can run 3/8" end mills though, or bigger. My machine will have a rougher time with the tiny 1/8" and smaller end mills though :/ Low RPMs on mine. I get to run 2" aluminum face mills though lol. Glad you got the air blast at least. I still recommend mist coolant but your MDF wasteboards wouldn't be too happy about that lol. Overall, looking good!

@@ProjectsbyBrian Yeah and your tools would be less susceptible to aluminum attaching itself to your end mills and increase tool life.

Lol I know... I actually had some clearance issues with the split space bars (ePBT BoW) hitting the bottom trim piece. I also had a handful of other things that I want to change so I'll be doing some tweaks to the design. I realize that I should have included a typing test :(

Nice machining! I’m new to the CNC world and was thinking of dipping my foot with a ooznet Workbee / Shapeoko type machine, but honestly, I do wonder if the money and time would be better spent on a a printNC machine. If you don’t mind me asking, what did that machine cost you all in? I’ve hit the subscribe, the bell and the thumbs up. Great video, thanks for taking the time to make it. :o)
