How did the VFD in the enclosure end up working out?
@ProjectsbyBrian
@ProjectsbyBrian Ай бұрын
I never had any issues actually. Only "weird" issue that I had was with my parallel breakout board and sometimes my left Y motor wouldn't get the direction bit when homing, so the left motor would home in the wrong direction, essentially tearing the gantry apart. When I switched to the Mesa 7i96 this issue went away.

These are great videos. I'm waiting on my Ali kit and these are keeping me pumped! Where did you get your punches, if you don't mind me asking? I'm eyeing the ones from HF.
@ProjectsbyBrian
@ProjectsbyBrian 2 ай бұрын
Thanks! The transfer punches I was using were kindly borrowed from a buddy of mine, but they're actually from harbor freight. The punch I used for the templates was getting pretty dull towards the end of the build, so idk if you can get slightly better ones that won't dull for a couple bucks more. Just something to mention.

What 3d printer would you buy if you were a beginner today? ...Lots moving parts in this market atm, so I'm trying to assimilate info from those who seem real and are not in sell mode. Most of us are trying to cut the right corners but at my age it becomes detrimental to cut out the sludge
@ProjectsbyBrian

I would honestly look at the Bambu A1. Even though I've built a voron, to have a printer that "just works" is pretty valuable to me. It's going to cost another $100 or so than a typical Ender, but will save you some potential troubleshooting and headache.

Will this script work in Mach3? I'm assuming it will since it's G-code but thought I would ask. I just bought a similar tool setter and cannot find any kind of script for these but am going to set up like yours where it's sitting in the corner somewhere out of the way. I'll be 3d printing a mold for a cover then casting it with liquid rubber to protect the sensor during operation since I will be using coolant a lot.
@ProjectsbyBrian
@ProjectsbyBrian 4 ай бұрын
Yes, it should mostly work. You might have to make a few machine specific changes that I'm not aware of, but it's worth trying.
@TheCommo81

@@ProjectsbyBrian Thanks. I know I would have to change coordinates and such but I just wanted to make sure the basic script could be re-typed out verbatim into mach3.

This is a really awesome approach to getting the tool setter to work! Although i have to ask. Why are you using g92 z value instead of g10 l20 p1 z value? Wouldn't you have a double offset from not cleaning the previous g92 with a g92.1?

Hello, I added the same tool setter to my Router CNC, at some point during the installation, did it not happen to you that the tool lowered more than it should in the calibration? 'cause that happened to me, and I don't know if it is due to the software parameters

I did the Predator 212 engine swamped on an old Toro 521. Toro 521 has a 21-inch clearing path. It's a shame they don't make two stage snow blowers that small anymore. I find it's good for my front walkway.

DO NOT remove the iron tip from the joint when approaching with the sucker. The solder WILL solidify at that moment. The silicon tube does not melt easily, just press it against the joint AND the tip together. Then it will do a much better job. Otherwise, the results would not be much different from a cheap sucker. The magic here, as you say, is the silicon tip which creates a SEAL on the joint. In your demonstration though, there was absolutely no seal. You removed some of the solder, but the joints remained soldered.

I have the same VFD I added a 40c thermal switch to the fan curcit. I used a little thermal glue connect the switch to the heatsink located just under the fan. It works great, the fan only comes on when the spindle is under load, otherwise its nice and quite lol.

This is an Eaton Panel with a CC2150 Main Breaker. Eaton has a lifetime warranty. Call them up and they will send out a replacement breaker free of charge under warranty. If you have the same breaker as in this video it will be replaced with a CCV2150 which is the replacement for a CC2150 as they have been discontinued. I just did this and received mine after about a month and a half. Hope this helps someone.

Plastic motor mounting ? NO WAY. All you cutting force has to go through the ball screw , ballnut and motor mountings. Plastic moves. Buy , or make solid metal parts.

Hi.. great video, would this type of setup also be able to use with online based software like Easel or similar ? Because not all have access to CAD/CAM software or even know how to properly use those type of software.. i am just right now building my 4th CNC and i am thinking about using onlinebased software like Easel, even though i used to use LinuxCNC and still have that computer with everything allready installed. Thanks..
