There are definitely a bunch of these public servants that are just ignorant to the information, and weren't properly trained. Its the arrogance and reluctance to even listen that makes it so much worse. Especially when you are as polite as you are, and obviously of no harm to anyone. Insane they almost never have a positive interaction when they definitely could.

It’s the unsecured part of the jail. Denying public records is a major violation just so they know. I always found it funny how people go into jail petty criminals and come out major criminals it’s very interesting how that happens.

You definitely went into the belly of the beast. I retired from Illinois Corrections. The only "Public Property" where the public can access the prison is the parking lot and the main entrance. If a person is there to visit an inmate they are properly vetted and searched before being granted entry into "Restricted Area". If you are there for business, you have to be screened and cleared before entering into "Restricted Area" either through main entrance or Sally Port for deliveries. Other than those purposes it is common practice to not allow anyone else on grounds and tell them they have to leave the grounds. They have been trained this way and nothing will change this because of the classification as a "Correctional Facility" and the need to control access around the perimeter of the facilities. They do house inmates and need a secure perimeter at all times and can't allow the general public to wander the facility so no illegal contraban can be introduced into the facility by citizens. This is one of those "Gray Areas" of public facility classification...pretty much, "Authorized Persons Only".
