Character development

In the light that my comment is so popular let me clarify my point: No disrespect to the brother referred to in the letter, I don't know his circumstances or his character but I do have prior experience regarding relationships behind bars. As a Christian himself I have heard of ONE testimony about a Man who had been locked up in his teens for murder (sentenced to LIFE imprisonment who came to the LORD because of the experience) enter into a deep relationship with a woman which blossomed into a beautiful marriage with kids when God opened the door for his release. I can testify that yes, God himself is THAT deep regarding some things. His name is Ron Olivier and his testimony (about how the Supreme Court overturn the State of Louisiana regarding of it's decision to impose Life Sentences on Teenage Offenders) is the exception to the rule regarding these type of relationships. What I am trying to say is, do these relationships work? Yes some do. (By some I mean ONE from my personal experience.) MOST OF THEM DON'T. In my incarceration I have witness many of the fellow peers engage in having these relationships with complete strangers they met over the phone, through the newspaper, on the internet etc. The vast majority of the narrative that is fed to these women isn't the reality of the situation. You just don't know the factors behind the man because the man is behind bars. 1) You don't know if he's playing you for money (I met guys doing this to desperate woman, it is absolutely disgusting) 2) You don't know if he's exclusive (Man times guys are saying the same story to multiple desperate women) 3) You don't know if he's clean (I know of MANY MANY guys who would facetime with females over the phone, get there juices running and then go use a punk for release) I will spare you from the horror stories I've seen and heard while locked up. This brother proclaims himself to be innocent. IF he is, his ass shouldn't be focusing on no female while he is LOCKED UP. His primary concern should be marching his ass EVERY MORNING down the law library to fight for his FREEDOM. A relationship shouldn't even be a concern for him. And with all respect to the sister in this letter, she NEEDS to take this into her heart as well. She needs to know that his primary focus shouldn't be HER but his FREEDOM. It sounds like both parties have genuine feelings for one another, but both of ya'll need to be pragmatic with the situation. She wants him to commit before she continues to open herself to him and it sounds like he doesn't want to commit. In reality HE CAN'T. Ya'll can't meet each other needs, that's the reality of the situation. I don't know if the case is Federal or State, but there are NO Conjugal visits in Federal prisons. And even if there are conjugal visits, a relationship is more then just a few days of sex sprinkled throughout a year. From my own personal experience: I was 100% GUILTY of my crime, when I was sentenced to half a decade behind bars I immediately ended my relationship with my girlfriend to do my time. It was a pragmatic decision because I saw the reality of the situation, I told her that she DESERVES a BETTER MAN to take care of her and I wasn't in the position to do that. If I told her anything else it would have been a LIE. My primary concern with my bid was: 1) How to get out of this situation ALIVE 2) How can I get out a BETTER MAN That was my whole concern. Self Improvement and Character Development. That needs to be every dude's mindset in prison instead of thinking about HOW TO GET LAID. I made that my priority over the three women that had developed feelings for me while I was lockup. It wasn't always easy, it's pretty chaotic in the field of love and war but I'm reaping the rewards of investing in those choices. I left prison transformed physically, mentally, emotionally to the point where even my PUBLIC DEFENDER said I was a new person (he literally couldn't recognize me.) I am thriving in a pandemic working a decent paying job from a well known company in a field that was supposed to be IMPOSSIBLE to get a job because of COVID. I became a pillar of my Church's Men's Ministry and became a P-1 Level Martial Arts Practitioner of Krav Maga. Currently I'm laying the ground work for starting a career as a Cinematographer/Entrepreneur with the life purpose of creating a NPO to help other offenders in prison make a better life for themselves upon release. I managed all of this roughly 18 MONTHS after my release. Am I perfect? No. But I'm definitely trying to be a better man for that woman I'm waiting for and whose waiting for me.

I too played the fool for a jail bird in my younger days and he did exactly what Tony described with his sisters with the exception that he received very few funds from me. Actually ended up call me stangy. Talked about how bad his kid’s Mom was and reconciled with her upon his release. Don’t do it Ladies! Not worth the 💔.

Exactly. He blatantly told her what it is. “I don’t want a relationship”, and he couldn’t answer a simple question when she asked him. No answer is also an answer.
