If gas is $30 a gallon, it works. I got 37 mpg in my Accord with 220,000 miles, so a much smaller Prius gets 50 on the highway, I doubt it but it's had to get the math to work even if the battery lasts forever.

​@@danr1920a hybrid Corolla is only like 3k more. So factoring in the transmission which lacks gears and so should outlast the car. Brakes can be good for 100k miles or even more... The decrease in maintenance plus gas savings makes it completely worth it. Toyota hybrids are incredibly reliable if you take care of them, I wouldn't buy one to save the planet though.
