Cheapest and easiest fix is to put a tap on the heater hose. In winter turn tap on.

So I'm getting the 41 and 48 code on my 2016 Prius and it spits out hot air when the engine is running but when it's just on battery it's ice cold air

Wouldn't it be nice if the coolant hose that feeds the heater core could be simply bypassed or shunted in the summer.

Thanks for this, although I couldn’t see what you unplugged. I have the same problem. It’s cold when is in electric mode and as soon as the engine turn on gets hot. I’ll try anything

I have a similar issue with my 2007 Gen 2 Prius where the AC comes out hot. I once took it to JigfyLube to get it checked back in February and they said there were no leaks or any damage and that it was just my R-134a refrigerant that was completely empty. So I got my refrigerant added and it was working well until now that it tends to switch between hot and cold. Once I feel it has been hot for a long time and no longer goes back to cold I add pure R-134a from Walmart or Auto part stores (which by the way has been recommended by a lot of people on forums to use pure R-134a) and it starts feeling cold again but continues to switch between hot and cold even when I have it as cold as possible.Any idea what it could be? Possibly a leak since I have to keep adding when it stops shooting cold air. But when I do add it only gets cold for a bit and goes back to hot than back to cold

I did suffer with this problem 3 years ago here’s what I did, I did empty out all the refrigerant and filled up with ARCTIC FREEZE THAT CONTAINS UV DYE IN IT!! The container is blue in color kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqmmatV0ycm8o5c.html I used that antifreeze it’s been years and I have never had a problem also make sure your inventor water pump is working well it may be failing

hard to know what is happening. Maybe a leak or something different.

Thank you for the vid, I have the same problem on my 2012 Prius C..Did you ever find a permanent solution to this issue? Also have you found other DIY fixes since you made the video? My AC would run cool when running in EV but soon as the engine comes on, hot air starts coming out no matter what the temperature is set on. Also I plan on taking the car to a garage to get it fix if I am unable to do it myself, what would you suggest I tell them so that they have an idea of what the solution is for the problem. I don't want them to go blindly looking for a solution that could end up costing me more than it should. Your response is greatly appreciated.

The "blend door motor" or actuator is failed. This is a common issue in the automotive world seen in all modern cars. The permanent fix would be very labor intensive involving complete disassembly of the dash board but access and blend door motor location varies by model, it is pretty tough access on the Prius C

bro need help, 12 prius, when i turn on the stove to the maximum temperature, the stove motor blows well, and the air from the ventilator blows well, but when the temperature is turned to low, the stove motor starts to blow weakly, and, accordingly, a very low air flow from the ventilator, what is the problem? It automatically adjusts fan speed depending on temperature selection. Have you tried manually changing fan speed with heater controls?

@@Mrelectric423 I checked today, the motor works well, the problem is different, when I set the temperature to cold air, the damper closes the stove radiator (lower) and blows only through the upper radiator, apparently it needs to be cleaned on the other side, somehow

Mount a tablet in the dash with Techstream to control problem solve 😂🤣 I never came across that problem I’m jealous Funny how we can say a car is undrivable nowadays because the air conditioning doesn’t work. As kids are grandparents and parents cars mostly did not have air-conditioning and we were just fine just sweaty. Now I can’t live without air-conditioning including my house in San Francisco 30 years ago who would ever think a house in San Francisco would have air-conditioning
