excellent video. My car is pulling a code for a bad Angle Sensor. The Angle Sensor is connected to the Clock Spring in the back. The Angle Sensor is causing the traction control light to show that it is inactive. To separate the Clock Spring from the Angle Sensor I used a small screwdriver to slightly nudge the two pieces apart.

I appreciate the great visuals and also removal process being so clear. *How do I tell if the problem is break boosters or break actuator?* I'm looking at a Prius 2002, and know it's a little different, but not much. And roughly, how long did it take you as an expert to do this project (or if you're a DIY repairperson)?
@Mrelectric42315 күн бұрын
I have little experience with gen 1 Prius but the general consensus is to move towards a gen 2 or newer when possible. I believe several areas were drastically improved in gen 2 up. If you already own the car I would start by researching the codes logged and paying attention to experts on Prius chat. I worked at the Toyota dealership then an independent shop and now more as a hobbyist for the past 20 years. That said there is a lot to learn and I avoid trying to say I know the cars well.

So if I replaced calipers over a year ago and had lights on my actuator is probably already bad
@Mrelectric42320 күн бұрын
I doubt that killed it. I think the actuator stops trying to build pressure once a code is set. My guess is that clearing codes with an expensive scanner then bleeding would be all it takes

Great Video! I just sourced a temporary spare from a 2008 Toyota Camry. It has a 155/70/D17 tire on a 17x4 rim. This gives this tire a 26.25" diameter, very nearly the same as the OEM 195/50/R19. There is no issues with offset, the hub diameter is the same at 60.1mm, the lug spacing is the same at 114.3mm. It fits well under the existing back cover. I trimmed the styrofoam blocks to provide support along the sides and in from of the tire. I did have to add a piece of 3/4" plywood to act as a spacer to make the center height even with the sides. This may be a another choice for 5th Gen owners.

If you're changing full synthetic oil every 5K you're tossing money out the window. Synthetic oil dosn't break down like dinosaur oil used to. Most manufacturers and oil producers list up to 15K before the oil needs to be changed, and that's because of dirt more than the oil itself.
