This is what we need to see more of, Prius Offroad! Lots of car people who drive Priuses for the car's unreal potential and reliability. Unfortunately 3rd party supplies have always been late and skant with these hybrids. Do us all a favour and put up tags for your videos, look into battery voltage balancing. showcase your lift kits on other generations of Prius, investigate if upgrading the roll bars are helpful to the ride height.

Two weeks ago while driving on the 101N freeway at dawn in Los Angeles, I ran over what I believe was a 24 inch (60cm) piece of 4 by 4 lumber board and it impacted the bottom passenger side taking out one of the plastic engine/fender bay covers. I need this lift NOW!!

Hey brother, hope you're recovering well from your accident. Thanks for what you do for the community. I have to ask- Have you guys tried mix n matching OEM parts from other platforms? I think a Rav4 LCA up front and a Sienna strut would allow for larger lift without geometry or tire clearance issues. I haven't crawled under the back of my Gen 3 yet to see what in tarnation is happening back there, but it can't be that different to anything else they do. It's just arms and links- cheap parts to get lengthened etc depending on design, or use something of another car to get to spec. I just can't jump on the kits yet until I explore OEM options. One thing that's interesting is the Prius has TONS of strut/shock rod travel, most similar to a Sienna in terms of how the rear strut is mounted/moves through its travel. I assume the rear suspension is very similar, just lighter duty/smaller overall. Notably- I think the 08 era Sienna rear shock would fit really really nicely in a 2-3" lifted Prius--- In fact might have to use a slimmer bushing to "shorten" the compressed length, but it has another 1.1" of stroke, compressed length is 2.3" longer. There are Tacoma and Tundra shocks that have similar strokes/lengths as well. Tacoma oddly enough are too short. From what I can tell, Tundra rears would work beautifully. Almost exactly 1" longer than the OEM shocks, same stroke more or less. Valving would be a complete unknown. Definitely think the Tundra shock would work great, given the extra leverage the IRS has against it, and not having the leafs to manage, I think the damping might not actually be that bad. Hard to say. But the longer compressed length might prevent stuffing an OS tire as well. I actually considered using a Sienna shock on my 4Runner as a joke, since it has a really impressive stroke but the compressed length is too long. Which Is something I actually need now with my GX setup but I'm going TRD pro on it. The TRD Pro shocks are really really close to Prius OEM lengths, with a hair more extended length, nearly identical compressed. 14.7-25.5 give or take, prius is 14.5-23.8

Mine is one the way! Question, does the TRD rear sway bar help? I haven't had a chance to really look where it mounts, but I couldn't understand how it would help a solid beam axle. I've got 215/70R15 tires on right now and the front rubs some on bigger bumps, but I still scrape my bumper in places. But I'm thinking about stability with a load on the back of the car, to be more specific about 170lbs of trailer tongue weight. I've had 240lbs of salt in the trunk a couple times. Less than half the payload capacity, with me in it. You should make some videos on your Gen3.
@priusoffroad3232
@priusoffroad3232 3 жыл бұрын
Nice! As for the sway bar, we have yet to try out different sway bars but I would assume it would reduce sway as it's intended. Let us know your thoughts on it after you get it installed so we can let others know.

I just got the prius Offroad lift kit for my 2014, prius GS 1.8cc (gen 3) I own a right hand drive car... So i need to ask how the arrows and letters should be placed on front kit as you advised that the arrows should be pointed towards the passenger side (driver side in my case) and the letters up against the firewall. I guess i have to place in reverse order, arrows towards the driver side, and where its written P(Passenger) i have to put it on driver side and vice versa, but I’d really appreciate your input/advise as well.
