Every year there’s a lot of talented Korean ballet dancers at Prix de Lausanne, are there really good ballet schools there ? I’ve never heard of any yet they all have strong technique and beautiful lines

Korean dancers usually will train at special arts high schools that are super hard to get into, and there aren’t many in the country either, so only the best of the best can be selected to study ballet in these middle/high schools! So if you look at all the Korean participants you’ll notice that they are mostly from the same schools

and the Korean schools are all based on the Vaganova method

The “elite arts/sports” system in Korea definitely holds high standard. The drawback is that 1) those who are in such elite system have to do it for a living because there is less focus in other aspects of study and 2) it is virtually impossible to make a career out of arts/sports unless you made the cut earlier on in your life. Very different than US or Japan where a larger pool of people do it for extracurricular. Pros and cons exist!

와.....😮😮 폴드브라진짜 예술이네요 수민리나님.. 동작 하나하나가 하프의 선율을 뽑아내고있는 느낌이에요. 동작자체가 하프를 연주하는듯한.. 이렇게 예쁘고 몇번이고 돌려본 파키타 처음이에요. 수민리나 공연 직접꼭 보고싶네요❤❤ 감동적인 공연 감사합니다🫶🏻

I wish the Prix would use a recording for this variation that’s a tad bit slower. The beginning seems a little quicker than it’s traditionally done

No, unfortunately! It seems to be the tendency now that boys win at the Prix de Lausanne 😢 Although girls were better than boys this year. Of course this is only my opinion 😊

Technically the standard of girls higher than boys, but fewer of them this year. Looking for soul, passion for dance, musicality - harder to find that.
