When I was in high school, Slumdog Millionaire showed me that movies don't have to be American or UK to be great. It's always good to see a different perspective and culture thrive in movies. I am better for it.

There are innumerable great Indian movies that never get an international audience because none of the team member is famous enough or known enough in the West.

What made it even more uncomfortable was once Ellen made a compliment to priyanka that she is beautiful and very talented and Priyanka said something like, " and that is hard to come by, right?" That was so awkward and uncomfortable because Ellen was being nice obviously and Priyanka unintentionally came off kinda arrogant and stupid! I mean Ellen met and interviewed hundreds of beautiful female celebs from Hollywood and around the world. Some of those women were just as talented and beautiful if not more beautiful and more talented than priyanka. I could read Ellen's face, she didnt like that and it was very awkward afterwards..

I have not been a huge Priyanka fan, whether in Indian or American cinema. But, what I’m really impressed by is that she’s brought Her identity completely. She’s taken hold and made the world pay attention. And she’s shown a Hindi language trailer on national TV. Good for her and all of us. Add this to America’s widening acceptance of its own diversity.

*How beautiful does she look?! The colour of her outfit is stunning on her skin tone. I admit that I wouldn’t have really called myself a Jonas Brother’s fan the first time round. If you hate a mark/scar on your face, just grab some concealer and boom! You're perfect. Makeup is just not a pink blush and a red lipstick, its about skin tone, about happiness, about creativity, about equality. Not only girls, but every gender in this world can wear makeup and feel confident in the way they are. Not everyone is that rich to get surgeries on their face to look so called beautiful. As someone who grew up surrounded by many different cultures, I find it amazing when someone doesn't just stick with their own culture but get out of their comfort zone to find out about other cultures. When talent and art from one culture is celebrated in a different one, it's goes beyond the concept of culture, it becomes about humanity. Especially, in the case of Aisha Chaudhary (I don't know if you know her story), that is a very inspiring story, it shows how having a different perspective on a same matter can bring so much joy. I don't think hollywood was ever going to make a movie like this. So, If an indian woman who went out of her environment and is a perfect example of balance of tradition vs modern India, to make a movie about this girl, that is not about seeking for validation, that is about representation, that's the world we live in today. I personnally would feel traped if I was aloud to be in one box.
