when I started scratching in 1990, there were no explanations and videos on the Internet. You could only listen and try to do the scratch. Yo! Never considered doing it to a slow 4x4 beat. Really helping me finally get this down. I was using a special hand position for the 2 click and the chirp comment helped too. Shorten your crossfader and record movement and you'll be able to hit it faster. As you go faster you use less arm movement and more hand movement to hit it. It'll take few weeks but you'll get there :)

These videos are amazing - I am ambidextrous and it’s always been harder for me to perform, or adapt to certain scratches. These scratch drill recommendations are priceless. If you ever do any paid tutorials, lessons, I am in.

These extended sessions that go more technically in-depth are awesome. (Ex.) Looking specifically at the rhythm/hand movements/mental things to focus on while scratching. It’s tough to find very specific videos of information on tips to increase accuracy/fluidity.

Interesting that you learned the boomerang and didn't already have a 2 click flare orbit. Although it is the same fader movement, I wouldn't have been able to learn it in that order because I would have never been able to wrap my head around the boomerang first. Cool video...love these technical breakdowns with so much detail! Pro tip on watching tutorials (or any scratch routines), change the playback speed on the KZfaq video player. You can see so much more when you slow it down.

2 click flare was the first flare I learned. It took me years to perfect that one. I understand how it could've took you 22 years to learn it. I'm always learning as well. Thanks for the scratch videos, appreciated!

There's also new unorthodox way to do those flares too. I love this guy's breakdowns and I like dj Angelo's channel.

Might be a good idear to do tutorial of all the diffrent starting positions for doing 2 click flares ( closed fader ) delayed 2 click flares. Really helps pratice sessions not get to stale. Keep skratching dudes

I have my max too and so I would twiddle my forward and back. Helps with the fatigue

Great vid. To get faster try using less travel on the sample. You only need about the first 10 or 15 percent whereas you are using around 60-70. Peace.

I learned basically all my scratching off those Angelo videos ten years ago.

Getting that 2-click down is so important to so many scratches. You'll use the same fader motion in other staples like the OG Flare, the boomerang, the autobahn, and a couple others. Once you nail that, you can start all over again trying to get the 3 click up to speed - that's where I'm at right now.

you're showing your own limits and I admire that. if you learn pinch obits, you'll get your speed up even more so. 175bpm used to be quite comfortable for me but I'm a bit rusty these days!

When you get going really fast, emulate how a guitarist plays super fast on their strings. It's index finger and thumb only and all in the wrist. Smaller movements help for speed as well.

Doing the orbit on the 4 count is fine for my brain to process, but as soon as I try doing the polymeter version it starts to feel like a transformer scratch, albeit one that starts with the fader open. At slow speeds I can get it sounding kinda like it should, and the fader is closed and open when it should be, but I'm not convinced I'm actually doing it right. More practice needed!

Is there any particular reason why you don’t sync the scratch sample bpm with the bpm of the beat? I’ve been syncing just my scratch channel’s samples to the beat’s bpm and find it works better with the timing of the scratch. Thank you!!

why does no one ever explain how important itis to train up the under muscle of forearm, along with building up strength in the thumb muscle which in my opinion is the key to bursting your wrist into them fast spasms, watched a ton of youtube videos and only one dude has mentioned it briefly, most just show how it's done and say practice rest practice drink lots of water mentioning building muscle memory start slow which is obvious but it's the behind the scenes work on the body which is really the thing you gotta figure out to have any chance executing fast yielding patterns, or actually excelling at any kind of skill to be dope not just alright gotta train like your an athlete, this might not be the case with all skills but any task demanding extreme fast muscle work, just my 5 cents,

I'm Mos Def not hating, been involved in music all my life. Hip hop especially breaking and beats are something you should not di-sect and teach like a class. Do it yourself and make it your own way...
