Watched countless tutorials about scratching over the years. I still suck, by and large. But you're including stuff in your tutorials that NO ONE TALKS ABOUT. Not Emma Short-E (Studio Scratches), not DJ Angelo, not any of the greats. Everyone teaches the chirp as 4 moves. 2 moves is the way to go. And, no one ever mentions you need to be at the top of the sample, to get the most out of it. Many, MANY more of these tutorials, please, sir. I think my chirp scratch improved 10 minutes after I watched this video. Thanks!

This is super true. I was watching the Short-E videos as well, and couldn't understand why I wasn't learning anything and why I couldn't make it sound like what she was doing, using the same sample., no matter how many times I did it.

As others mentioned, this is the first tutorial video I've watched where I felt like I was actually grasping the concepts. I was under the mistaken impression that the other teachers were scratching across the entire sample, and that my controller rotation ratio must be off, because I was only getting some of it. Watching you, mine looks perfectly normal, once you explain that you scratch the BEGINNING of the sample, which the other folks' tutorials fail to do. Plus it's so much easier, being able to watch your waveform at the top as well, for reference when trying to reproduce your techniques. Thank you so much. Also, I don't think you really need all that COPPA stuff, lol. Just marking it in your uploads as not for kids is sufficient.

Very good tutorial🙏🏼 very in depth and patient unlike many other djs that try to do a class and undermine the essentials , that are much needed for someone who doesn’t fully have the the same familiarity and understanding of how to this part of the craft works . Great points big up bruv 🔥💯

The chirp scratch is like the baby scratch but DJ Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money was innovators of the transformer scratch too which is the hardest scratch technique that is known for scratching. It takes proper rotation of the platter and crossfader at the same time.

I just had a big breakthrough on the baby scratch exercises. I was confused because mine don't sound like his, especially from inside the sample. The way his kinda go HIGH PITCH low pitch, and have a sense of finality to them when he finishes the pattern. I thought maybe his ahh sample was different somehow, then I realized he gets the different sound by how fast he pulls the scratch. Sure it may seem obvious when you think about it, but I think it bears mentioning. A slower scratch will sound lower pitched, and a faster scratch will sound higher pitched, which allows you to put that last bit of polish on the pattern and gives you that extra color in your palette.

The baby scratch, chirp, and transformer I can make sound ok with the QA, but you do the forward scratch so fast. I can't figure out how to do it that fast. I can get to half time but the quarter hits are rough. I think it's just a coordination issue on my part. Great videos. I'm learning a lot from you!

Forward scratch is just putting the platter forward so it can go back and forth with the crossfader. It has that back and forth motion to the scratch, it also as smooth as the baby scratch is. To get a smoother cut you have to move the platter with the crossfader.
