Plus then it gives a constant so we know where they're at. Like they say they make Italian food but they're taste testing Americanized versions of sauces? I'll agree most of these aren't great, but price point matters as well. The things they cook I'm sure are a lot more expensive.

I disagree. They are more expensive because they source better and fresher ingredients. The cheaper sauces are using pastes, purees, dried herbs, acid & sugar to add/mask flavor. The more expensive ones use better tomatoes so they don’t have to do all that. Costs more but sooo much tastier.

We called it “Fennel Finocchio” as opposed to the Fennel Seeds. I just switched over to Rao's after more than a decade of prego. I'm so so happy I decided to try it. It tastes like a marinara should! And the way it binds to the pasta is just 🤌 I tried their tomato basil and wasnt really a fan. Their classic one is the best. But their roasted garlic flavor is also decent...but when I used it I had also seasoned the meat with a blend of SPG and it was a bit overpowering. But I love garlic, so it really wasn't that bad. Still, their classic sauce is everything it should be. I get excited for spaghetti night now. The Mutti isn't available at my store, otherwise i would try it.

Before I watch the video, I'm saying RAO's all the way. For years they have been my go-to for marinara, bolognese, arrabbiata, alfredo, vodka, etc. They are just the best. Let's see if we agree... (watching) ... After watching YEAH baby 2nd place. In fairness I do not have Mutti in either of the stores where I shop. I'll look for it though and hopefully have the chance the compare. RAO's continues to be my go-to, it's fresh, flavorful and delicious.

I bought some Mutti a week or so ago and looking forward to trying it. I've been using their canned tomatoes for my own sauces (Amatriciana, Puttanesca) and really like them so even before seeing this I had high hopes.

I have to try the top three to see but I have been buying the Publix organic brand which is fine to use as a base for other sauces or for making lasagna or eggplant parmigiana. Usually I make my own with San Marzano canned tomatoes or ripe fresh Roma tomatoes, salt, olive oil, onion, garlic and red pepper flakes.

I appreciate this taste test... I've been searching for the perfect sauce forever! Nothing compares to my Auntie Esthers (not related, though 😢) sauce... and her meatballs were something on another level... sadly, I was very young, so I never knew her recipe... and I have no relatives of my own... if anyone has a decent authentic ITALIAN GRAVY recipe, please share with me... Thank you!! ❤

Rao's reminds me of my mom's sauce. While I like to make my own with San Marzano tomatoes, Rao's is always in my cabinet for back up for a quick meal. I have never seen Mutti sauce in my local grocery store but will look for it to try. I have never been a fan of Newman's because I don't care for fennel.

Not a fan of super chunky sauces myself, I much prefer more of a puree. I will often take an small immersion blender to smooth it out.

I completely agree, I prefer smooth. Mutti is my favorite sauce brand and they also have a sauce that's completely smooth, not like the one in the video. It's delicious.

I like the thickness of Prego. This is what I use when I make my lasagna. And one thing I can't stand is a loose watery meat sauce.

Yes, thank you! I used to make my own sauce but after tasting Prego at a friend's house it's been my go to sauce. ❤
