This is not the best live version of Midnight Rambler. That would be the version on the Get Yer Ya Ya's Out album recorded at Madison Square Garden in December 1969. Please react to it.

Sometimes it takes maturity to appreciate quality. But for me by the time I was 12 or 13 I new the Stones were not like everyone else. So glade I grew up with them.

Great comments on Charlie Watts, the drummer. He was rightfully called the Human Metronome. Such a great drummer. He's certainly missed. RIP.

They hit their best strides especially live in 72 and 73. They got more tight and loose at the same time. Mick Taylor and Nicky Hopkins kicked them into another gear. I do love this performance though. Small venue , lower volume than the stadiums they’d fill up.

You can never play enough Stones man (yes, Bill Wyman did play a Mustang for years), especially the Jones and Taylor eras.

Never too late to become a Stones fan. I've been one since about '64 and have seen them multiple times live, the first time being '71 or '72. I have many favorite bands but the Rolling Stones are WAY up there on the list with the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zep. etc. Please also listen to the studio versions of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" (Sticky Fingers album) and "Time Waits for No One" (It's Only Rock and Roll album). Also, check out the studio version of Midnight Rambler and Get Your Ya Ya's out live album. R.I.P. Charlie Watts

There is a good version on their imo best live-album, Get Yer YaYa's Out. You should check that out. It is classic. A very Nice version of Sympathy for the Devil

I my opinion that version of Sympathy is the greatest rock song hands down. By the end of the 69 tour they sounded great, even at Altamont.

RE;- Ampeg - that's a full Ampeg backline. The Stones were endorsees at the time. Re;- The Dan Armstrong guitar - yup, but that's not a production DA, that's one of the prototypes. Keef used it from 69-71, when it was stolen during the Exile sessions.

If you want to hear a great live album by the stones check out the album called Get Your Ya Ya's Out. It's a real unknown jem. Charley Watts was a master of keeping the beat. Ron Wood was a great blues player but I was always a fan of Mick Taylor who was playing lead here. In the sixties when they first hit they ruled the radio. Only the Beatles were as popular but the Stones rocked way harder than the Beatles.

I was born in 56 and didn't really get into them until the time the Beatles fell apart and Stones took over as the Greatest Rock n roll band in the world . I still feel a bit guilty about how the time and wasted money on the Solo LPs and wasn't building my Stones collection. 😛😜❗

Keith Richards drove himself to this gig already smashed and an hour or two late, parked on the curb in front of the club and left his car running. He passed out on the stage toward the end of the gig.
