The British gave the Arabs their bits, a part which joined Syria and a big chunk going to Jordon. The Jews were never given their part, which is now known as Israel, West Bank, Gaza, and a bit North and across the Jordon River. I think it was clear even then the Islamic ideology wanted it all, and still does

There is no such state as "Palestine" , the representatives that claim to speak for the "Palestinian people" (also no such thing) have been given some additional rights in the UN but they still are only considered as having "observer" status i.e. not a state! You have two dysfunctional region being ruled by crooks who having been elected are now in their 16y+/- yr of their supposedly 4 yr terms and you think these people can run a modern country without being given everything on a plate by the west ? To become a state they would require consent of the security council and that is very unlikely to be forth coming when they refuse to recognise Israel's right to exist, give up on their claims to Israeli territory and sit down to have honest discussions (impossible for an Islamic entity like HAMAS) on a permanent peace within secure borders as per previous UN resolutions.
