This is probably my fav so far from the drumeo and Pianote series. It’s just so impressive! She needed to figure out the song, figure out an approach to playing it, apparently memorize it and then have the dexterity to be able to play it… but also play it with a lot of emotion and character. It’s just insane!

@@VictoriaTheodorewhat I found impressive is that you had so much more flow and grace when you made the piece your own rather than trying to follow the imho busy and a bit clumsy original arrangement. I always found it a bit over the top - the original piece is rather minimalist and the power comes from the church organ. Anyway super impressive as everyone is saying :)

I’m definitely no professional, but I did start 2 years ago when I was 14. tip would be practice your fundamentals first, master the basics while you get used to the piano…sometimes I can play by ear because I somehow remember how the keys sound! so there’s really no huge shortcut, you have to constantly practice and learn. of course, you can search up more videos for advice :)

Whatever instrument you play you learn this skill by doing it. Take an easy melody and try figure it out then keep going on to harder stuff. Learn common chord progressions, cadences and learn how different intervals sound. 20 mins a day will show big results in just 1 year

At first I thought by reading the title: interesting but I don’t believe it. But then throughout out the video it seemed more legit. Then when she starts playing OMG! She captured the soul of the song and made little tweaks in the song that still describe and show the soul of the song. doing that from scratch is INSANE! Really inspiring! I’m a fan of Victoria now! This was absolutely incredible to watch. Clearly, Victoria is a master of the piano and playing by ear, but in many ways it gave me faith as a beginner. We experience the same emotions when playing an instrument, whether we are masters or beginners. The important thing is to have the courage to dive in, make mistakes, and enjoy the musical journey.

Cornfield Chase (or as I call it, the Interstellar song 😜) is easily one of my most favorite songs. Funny she mentions (not by name) the movie Arrival, which is one of my most favorite movies. Both these movies invoke the most mind bending interception of time and reality. I never would’ve had that correlation if they weren’t mentioned together in this video. 🤯 Super cool!! She has amazing talent!! 😍

I've never seen a more beautiful transition from Score to Pop and back to Score. Like a true lesson in the differential of space in music. How music can throw your mind from wanting to focus to instantly wanting to sway and move with it. Incredible.

You can really see that this wonderful lady is having a blast while figuring out what's happening and playing! Watching her smiling and laughing while listening and getting all the little tricky details is just marvelous! And she made me want to get back to my piano and practice even though I'm completely rusted (and I never was good to begin with). And her joy is so contagious! Lady Victoria Theodore, you are a true joy and pleasure to watch and listen playing!

@@VictoriaTheodore Thank you, you're so adorable! ☺🙏 I actually went back to it and I nearly missed my time to go to work because I was having such a great time even though I am really rusty and I couldn't play any actual piece (just fiddling and letting my hands go where they wanted to go). And now I go to it once a day (even if just for 30-60 minutes) because I really want to be able to play something decent. (I think my guitar might be a little jealous though 🤣) So thank you for this video and for your kindness and encouragements! 🙏☺

@@VictoriaTheodore Don't worry I didn't miss job: I'm used to "zone out" when I do something I like (music, reading, writing, processing photographs [but always with some music in the background when not playing some, I just can't live in complete silence]) so I always set a timer to the moment when I absolutely have to go before getting late and another 10 minutes earlier 😅 And yes that feeling of getting lost in the moment is so great !

Absolutely amazing! But my favorite part of this song is the hypnotic note on E that should be played almost throughout the entire song on every beat. But playing by ear on this song is crazy!
