I have been stumbling over the king tour pack from my 2021 ‪@harleydavidson‬ Ultra Limited for months now since I first converted it to quick release. Now I have two tour packs, an ‪@Advanblack‬ chopped and the original king so I REALLY needed to get a storage rack. I checked ‪@harleydavidson‬'s, but didn't want to spend $200 for the name. My buddy ‪@ElBuffalo‬ suggested a DIY job, but I didn't have faith that it wouldn't turn out disappointing so I opted for the middle of the road option off of ‪@amazon‬ . $92.99 and so far I am really impressed. Came with everything you would need if your house has wood studs, if not I would go with self tappers as Buffalo suggested. The link is below if you want to pick one up!

Just like one of the earlier comment would have been to mount a small sheet of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood to the wall into the studs (16" or 24" on center just need to hammer tap/ or strong magnet to find them) then mount the rack to the plywood... you could even get creative and cut the plywood to look like the HD bar & shield..... ;-)

not sure about 2019 standards but it used to be studs on 16" center, i believe it sounds right lol. a person can also mount a plate to the studs ( whatever the distance is) then mount the rack to the plate. that way it is supported on both sides by the studs. they suck when you just want to nail/hang something but i like metal studs more than wood. they don't warp, rot, easy to find with a magnet. recyclable,stronger i think, faster. you have a nice garage, it just needs to be bigger lol. and have AC. lol good vid

Mr.Monkey , to carry on with different ways of installing heavy brackets into drywall, these work great if you do not hit a stud. U.S. version Fliptoggle 1/4” bolt, model 4255 Home Depot part number 1001530051 hold 137 LBS each. Canadian version is a different vendor but same idea....Snaptoggle 1/4” bolt, model 843-673 Home Depot part number 1000540135 holds 238 LBS. No idea why the Canadian version holds more, as I’m sure we don’t build our houses any different the most of the U.S. but hey you never know.
@nicktd
@nicktd 2 жыл бұрын
If it doesn't hold, get a 1/4 sheet of plywood, big enough to mount to the studs on both sides, then paint it, and attach the rack to it. 1/2 inch plywood would hold the weight just fine

There are multiple companies that make a floor/wall mounted storage lift that allows you to lift a bike high enough so you can either work on it while standing or raise it higher so you can store a second bike underneath. Open up alt of floor space. Uses household 110 power. Your garage ceiling looks about 12 feet or better. It wold work. I've been looking to do this for a while just haven't been able to pull the trigger. Here is one lift. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qq-Pec-mv9azqp8.html

Should have looked me up.Im a framer metal or wood or concrete walls could have made your day much easier.Most framing is standard 16 inches on center.But here in Florida some of these wanna be carpenters can't read a tale measure.Or finish drywall.They are just mud slingers never heard the word knock down till I came to FL to build a lot of commercial buildings and residential homes.I figured out why they do knock down here on the walls.is because they have no clue how to make a slick wall.Iv seen guys have more drywall mud on them than the walls.No kidding.iv built the Convention Center in West Palm Beach Walk in look up that's my trim work Built Boca high school. Built Las Olas Grande walk in the lobby see all the trim I'm that guy that framed it.helped built it from the ground up.Its seems here it's not about the quality but the quantity.Some of the work IV seen here I could not say I'd be proud I did that.But I grew up were you knew your trades and did them to the 9s.Just crappy construction down here.Iv remodel more homes that had house hold extension cords run thru the stud to have a power source in another room.Guess some don't know what building codes are for.
