Problem with a Pit Bull

Күн бұрынThe plaintiffs bring their neighbors, who they claim are hoarders, to court. They claim the defendants’ pit bull attacked and killed their dog, so they’re suing. The defendants admit their dog got out of the house on the day the plaintiffs’ dog was killed but claim there were no signs that they dog was involved, so they deny owing. They’re countersuing for emotional distress.

I feel bad for their dog……. I have 3 large dogs, one being a pit bull…. I just spent 18K on a new fence….. I would hate for one of my dogs to do this to someone’s dog.

The one defendant, when the plaintiff was talking about one of their relatives came to the plaintiff's house to say sorry, she kept making baby faces. Something wrong there. There was no blood on the dogs due to them coming home and the owner cleaned them up so to cover up what had happened. She knew her pitts attacked something.

Had 2 pit bulls that got into a fight with each other. They were never the same. I had a 15 month old granddaughter. I put both of the dogs down. No way was I going to take a chance that they'd hurt my baby girl.

I he believed that they had washed the dogs off afterwards... which after seeing that I see why he ruled the way he did.... if it were me I don't think I would've ruled that way to be honest.... lol

I can't stand pitbull owners sometimes. Yes yes of course other dogs can bite but many don't maul people to death.... a chihuahua's bite isn't the same as a pit clamping down on a human's neck and killing them. Come on!

Judge Mathis is way too emotional to be a judge. If he wasnt he would have remembered that they took the dogs straight from the incident so she wouldnt have been able to wash off any blood. And its hard to remove all traces of a mauling from animal fur. This ruling was egregious, especially considering the authorities had alreafy ruled that the dogs probably didnt do it. Were there other dogs in the neighborhood?? Foxes like in my neighborhood?? And hes also said that once a previous instution made a ruling that he would not rule contrary to said pevious *official ruling. This was bad.

These people are my neighbors. I was three when we moved next door to Melissa's in-laws. Wonderful people. I have known Melissa for forty plus years when she married into their family. She is a very caring person, and has been there for me over the years during difficult times. I was home that day, and saw the McIntyre's burying their dog at the rear of their property, adjacent to mine. Melissa called me, distraught. I could barely understand her. I cannot believe that she would EVER be rude to ANYONE, much less to someone who had just lost a pet under such circumstances. One of her pits is white, and would probably show blood. Also, there is a neighbor behind Melissa's, that have two pit bulls, who were out that day.

I'm not sure but she did admit that that she didn't properly close the gate and that the gate was subsequently open. JM however does have a bias against pit bulls that he has displayed in other similar cases.

As soon as I saw the title of the case I knew he would rule against them bc of the breed of the dogs. He doesn't like the breed and makes it clear.

JM has something against Pitbulls. If you go back, she said she saw the dogs leaving her yard. So it had just happened. News alert JM. You can tell if any dog had been in a fight hrs later even after being washed down. Complete joke.

Yup, just watched an old case where he said there’s a liability owners accept when buying vicious breeds like pits. So even if another dog comes to your yard and your pit kills it, pits fault. Sounds crazy but idk the law

So the wife came home to find the dog dead. There is a report from the city about the neighbor's dog not having blood or cuts on them but JM believes they cleaned the dogs? I believe that the plaintiffs lied on this family. He wants them out of “his” neighborhood. Bad call.

AGREE! In another comment one of the neighbors commented that the defendants dogs are white, which means blood would be seen. Also, other neighbors dogs were also loose that day. JM does not like pits and he was totally bias. He basically made the case for the plaintiffs by saying they could’ve washed the dogs off. Who the hell thinks to do that? JM got this one wrong!

She was addressing the statements made by the plaintiff about the upkeep of their house. There were other things said about it, that she was responding to. I am their neighbor. I heard all the things the plaintiff's said about them. And me. It was edited out.

They ARE ruining the neighborhood with their plywood windows and junky yard. I've seen wonderfully behaved pits but the judges bias against them or not doesn't change the fact that these pitbulls brutally killed that little animal.

I’m not a fan of pit bulls, but I actually felt sorry for the defendants as well as the plaintiffs. JM is a bit nuts in the more recent episodes. 🤪

I have a pitbull (rescue) she is sweet as pie.... loves everyone wouldn't hurt a fly.... she a scary dog.... idk how she was treated before we got her.... but i still wouldn't let her i of my sight outside....because i don't know what she'll do if she wanted to....

I hate the way people make it seems like all pitbulls are vicious! I have had 3 pitfalls with one of them being aggressive. The one I have now is the sweetest most submissive dog I have ever seen sleeps with my kids, and just wants love. I have had her for 7 years now, not one incident! The facts are is that neglected and abused dogs are vicious! Not just pit bulls smdh!

No one can wash blood out of fur and dry it in that short amount of time. If you're going to accuse people of hosing down the dogs you have the burden of proof.

I'm surprised and disappointed at how Judge Matthis handled this case. Both sides were at fault for what happened. The plaintiff's wife should have been outside with her dog. The defendants should have secured their dogs better. The most disappointing thing about this episode is how the judge seemed to allow personal opinions of the breed to influence his judgment. There are questions that should have been asked that never were asked. I am disturbed by this trend that I have seen going on with other judges as well for over 20 years.

It's not the plaintiffs fault AT ALL.they should be able to let their dog out in the back yard any time they want,it's their property! No one ever thought those vicious dogs would break into their yard & kill their poor little dog!

@margaritamaldonado9677 She still had a responsibility to supervise her dog while it was outside. Anyone that let's their dog outside without being outside with it is irresponsible. Even if it's in your own backyard, you are STILL supposed to be out there with it (just like you would a child). It is how you keep it safe from predators and it is how you train its behaviors. If you as the owner are not there, then you can't do either. She failed to properly supervise her dog so yes, she bears some of the responsibility.

@wezzman1 I'm not "victim blaming". Like I said earlier, BOTH sides share responsibility because both sides neglected each of their responsibilities. The plantiff's wife let the dog outside in the yard. It was her responsibility to be outside with it supervising it. Just like it was the defendant's responsibility to know where her dogs were inside her house and to make sure they were properly secured. And let's not forget that the judge is responsible for being impartial and for making sure he has all of the information needed to render a verdict, he clearly was biased and did not have all of the information because he did not ask questions that should have been asked. You want to tell someone to grow up, do some of your own first.

A dog can not lick blood off themselves to that degree.Also another neighbour in the comments said one of the dogs is white.Have you ever tried to get blood out of something white? She also mentioned another neighbour has a pit too.They didn’t get put down as they were found not to have killed the dog so absolutely no need for them to be grateful.My old dog 17 years ago was accused of killing 5 sheep by a local farmer.He said he’d shoot him if he saw him out.Told me if I didn’t get rid of him id be sorry.I panicked and wasn’t thinking clearly as I was told hours earlier I was going to lose my baby.I took him to a shelter and then the next day thought about it and he had no blood on him considering he was meant to have ripped 5 sheep apart.Also asked the farmer for proof as he wanted money for the sheep.He couldn’t provide proof and I then got told a few days later that a lot of farmers lost sheep due to drowning in the heavy rain fall.I went back to the shelter to get my dog back but he’d been rehomed.I should have trusted my instincts.huge regrets

So her dogs got out randomly on the day the neighbors dog was killed. The pit bull owner called her dogs in and 45 minutes later the police came. The neighbor saw the pit bulls in her yard and the police came 45 minutes later….. there is NO way it wasn’t the neighbors dogs

JM WAS PREJUDICED N WRONG. pit bulls are not all violent n these neighbors would have seen blood. Not to mention there would be tracingson the sidewalk leading back to the house. Sorry for the dogs death but I'm not gonna lose my dogs because a neighbor doesn't like me having pitfalls.

Judge without evidence you automatically found the pitbulls guilty,, which I found to be harsh judgement,, pitfalls are wonderful dogs, yes dangerous when enticed,, but so is any dog for that matter, not fair judgement

Jm ruling was based on facts, in the court of law if the judge doesn't have solid proof he goes with his own ruling based on EVERYTHING presented. Not hard to see that the claimants dog killed the plaintiff. Have you taken prelaw? Have you taken the Bar exam? Are you an attorney? Have you even taken university level courses or read real law literature?

Good decision judge pitbulls are naturally in kill mode ,but it takes a experienced owner for proper training reading the pit bull dog owner body language and rude response not to pre judge but hard not to with that country boy accent just tell me in my heart she is not a good dog owner for the dog to be all white ,and no blood very odd 🤣

This is terrible on both sides. I have a pitbull and until I had 1 I was terrified of them. But I've had Roscoe since he was exactly 6 weeks and I know he's biological parents.(He's the best DOG EVER).He cuddles with our cat all the time and stays in the apartment with her alone. They actually love each other. But he will get gully especially if he sees danger
