I don't know anything about this product, but if it is something you are for, i will check it out! You are truly a fingernail shaman and soooo good at explaining everything!!! Another thing i always try to clarify when talking about any products efficacy is that it depends on your specific issues. For example, if someone with brittle nails used what works for my paper thin & super bendy nails, it would probably be terrible for them. Also, anything about nails is going to take time just due to that they take time to grow.

I've been using Dazzle Dry for about 2 months now I followed the steps you have outlined which are the same as the instructions on the product. The first application was on very short nails because I took all the length down to remove the damage. That manicure lasted 2 weeks, and the second went the same. Then I started to have a little grow out, and did my 3rd manicure the nails on my right hand started to peel. I realized I still needed to take off more of the damage. I took them down again and they are now perfect getting rid of the damage is the key here and it's the same with all products I believe my dozens of nail polishes are not bad I just have learned so much from watching your channel, (and I was a nail tech 30 years ago)!

I would suggest trying to not buff the nails aggressively, or at all because it disrupts the bond that the keratin layers have made naturally and also adding in the fact that in DD prof training vids it says to recommend you tell your clients to remove the polish a few days before their next service and use the mend and while the polish is on, use the maintain, because of the fancy chemistry they put in it, it’s to help really, like you said, plasticize the nail plate and really lay down those layers of keratin that get “scuffed up” from aggressive removal, buffing and filing on the nail plate.

I’ve been wearing DD off and on for years and found I get surface peeling at the tips. I’m going to start OPI repair mode and the weekly oil soaks you recommend. I’m religious with applying oil after hand washing. Thank you for sharing the great tips with us!

I purchased Dazzle Dry a few months ago and followed directions for use. It has hands down been the best polish I have ever owned! I own a farm and am extremely rough on my nails but I still get a solid week without chips. I’m usually bored with my color after a week anyway so it works for me.

The dryness is so interesting. I have had this with dazzle dry on my nails BUT I confess to peeling the nail polish off when it starts to lift and I think this is contributing. Have to stop. lol

Wow, Anna. Very nicely articulated response! There definitely is a learning curve to using Dazzle Dry. I’ve seen the very edges take a little longer to dry, plus the stringiness if you’re moving on to the top coat and not watching this….and have seen a damaged nail chip sooner than the rest. And, if my base coat is cloudy, I warm it slightly before use. Everything is exactly as you have said. But with relatively healthy natural nails and proper application, you really can’t beat Dazzle Dry in terms of appearance+durability+no yellowing/damage. I love not having yellow tinted nails, even if slight. The polish goes on creamy and feels great. Easy to tell it is a quality product. So, I’m definitely team Dazzle Dry ❤

@slowtide, big thumbs up on everything you said, especially the learning curve. Dazzle Dry is one of those game-changer products for me! The only thing I would add is that it really helps to give your nails a break for at least a day or two between manicures. I've had troublesome nails all my life, but by following Anna's advice (oils and creams, oils and creams...) my nails are great now. However, I began to get a little lazy with that when I started enjoying such a great DD manicure and it began to take a toll on the condition of my nails. It's a good idea to remove the DD and let things rest for at least a day or two, at the same time being diligent with the oils and creams. Thanks, @slowtide and Anna for saying it all so clearly!

Hi!! This video brought to mind a few questions: 1. Are base/top coats (2 -in-1 product) as effective as a single use top or base? 2. When there’s nail yellowing, is the only way to grow it out or are there products that help speed up the process? Your videos are phenomenal! I’m a new subscriber and I’m so glad I found your channel ❤
@TheSalonLife

Hello :). Question 1. Usually not. Base coats can be soft and sticky and they bond well to the nail. Top coats harder and by nature the non yellowing ones don’t stick to the nail very well. 2) the yellow sometimes fades a bit but it has to grow out. The process of removing the staining can be damaging to the nail.

I've had similar experience after transitioning from gel polish. My nails were damaged enough that DD might start crumbling off on day 3-4. All the 'repair' bonding products just seem to ultimately make things worse. Temporarily strengthening the nail, then making it brittle and crumbly. I finally stopped putting any polish on for 3 months. Filing down the ragged edges as they grew out. I kept up with several times daily oil and petrolatum application. Now, after 100% grow out, my nails flex without chipping or breaking and the edges aren't flaking. Best they have been in over 10 years! I polish now with Dazzle Dry and it lasts perfect for one week, a little edge wear the 2nd week if I choose to wear the color that long. I also thin the polish with Restore as needed. Thin application flexes well. I feel like putting polish over even mild damaged nails just perpetuates the condition. I have benefitted enormously from allowing 100% grow out while using oil and moisture treatment.

I feel the same way. Polish does not "protect" the nails. It just temporarily makes them "feel" better but not really helping the condition of the nail underneath and actually very often contributing to damage. If the nails are overfiled and very thin a coat of base/top coat could make them feel better so benefits outweigh the negatives. Overall oil and petrolatum are more protecting than any polish.

I'm finding the new gel polishes harder to get a nice finish on the nails. I was trained 30 years ago and Revlon was the usual salon go to polish, malva or Jessica. These polishes don't seem to be prevalent now. I bought some gel polish type from Rimmel, I struggled with that. And I'm not sure I like Essie. Any thoughts please. I'm looking for a product I can get in UK please.

Big difference. Often the acetone evaporates from the remover first and you are left with.. water or some other less effective ingredients.

I purchased DD and it chips the same day every time I have painted them. I am really good at painting nails and gentle with them to prolong the polish. I often find the cheaper brands to be just as good or better for polishes. Sinful which is very cheap ,has always worked really well for me. I can get it to last a week for sure. It's becoming more difficult to find and the price has gone up a smidgen of course.

The CND Vinylux works great for pedicures. It lasts at least a month to up to 6 weeks. I try to get monthly pedis but sometimes have had to go a little longer and there is no chipping at all and the polish stays shiny and looks fresh. It does take an hour + to be completely dry but I can live with that just fine. I do my own shellac manis at home with all CND products

Is there a reason why the dazzle dry top coat kinda yellows over time. It still works and isn't that noticeable especially with deeper colors. But for lighter colors like less is mauve or wearing the ridge transform on its own. The ridge transform starts off surprisingly pale and then after a week the topcoat becomes warmer, making it look closer to the actual color of bare nails. Luckily this works well with my skin's undertones 😂 but I was always curious since technically it really shouldn't be changing the color.

I have been experiencing that too with some people. Usually it happens because the top coat has been broken down a bit. Usually it can be alcohol, sunscreen etc. I talked about it and showed examples in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e79_odyIyZ-1pmg.html

Need to avoid sunscreen? (@ 5:58) That's a big challenge. I apply sunscreen to my face and hands a few times a day. Do you know what chemicals in sunscreen are damaging to the formula? Would a mineral zinc be better than chemical types?
@DanielleBest
@DanielleBest 3 ай бұрын
I looked into it and it's the chemical sunscreens that are the worst offenders; they are designed to penetrate and absorb into the skin, so they do the same to the polish. I think i may have just discovered after years of mani-failure, why my polish peels and chips literally the next day no matter what I try!
