Would it make a difference if the steel is on the softer side? They all seem to be happy with their soft steels with no heat treatment - and it seems to do the job for them somehow.

Extremely great work by the workers. But, their working conditions are very poor. These hard working labourers need better working conditions. Also what's the price for the knives and where it is available to buy. I am in Dwaraka, New Delhi.

These traditional methods need more innovation in form of automation which will result in more qualitative low cost production that in return will be beneficial for the owner who then can afford to provide better wages and working condition to these skilled employees.

The handle is bad, the work is less than professional. In Indonesia, making a handle like that is good for only one person. Only 3 people worked on making such a tool and the results were very good.
