Processing Beaver Castor into Trapping Lure

Күн бұрынIn this video I show the process of grinding dried beaver castors and blending them with glycerine and preservative to use in my Birch River Beaver Lure. The product at the end of the video makes an excellent all around lure for beaver, coyotes, marten, fisher, lynx, bobcats and more. You can add different ingredients and experiment as well. Just don't waste any of it - it's valuable stuff these days!!

New young trapper here. Can you catch Montana bobcats with that lure? Maybe add some fox urine?

Hey Aaron, thanks for your interest! I personally haven't used it on bobcats but cats are very attracted to castor, i'm sure it would work well. I wouldn't add fox urine to it.

Thank you for the video! I do have a question about the caster mix. The trapper I got my traps from always used Turpentine for his thinner/preservative. Do you still use it at all? Anymore

I am a new trapper. I fresh froze my spring castor. CanI just dethaw and make a lure? Or do I have to dry it first?

Sure you can make lure from undried castor.

Whee do you get sodium benzoaye and does it have a common name? Where do you get glycerine?
