Oh thank you so much. I have been fighting this problem for over a year. Spent lots of money at mechanics to no avail. Put a new gas cap, and fixed! I was forced into retirement due to a stroke, and now trying to live on Social Security. You really saved my bacon. God bless you.

God bless you! Single mom with two kids (one of the special needs) here. You just saved the day! I had nightmare visions of a trip to the mechanic. Cleaned rim, oiled cap, and after sitting still for a few hours started car up with all lights now off! You are a lifesaver!

Single mom here too! Just did all the steps, lubricated rim thoroughly and am praying it works! Mechanic says I need a new O2 sensor or new cat converter 😬. Definitely not in the budget! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Informative video! Saved money and time. My solution was replace the gas gap for my Camry. I purchased OEM at the dealership. Dealership said a generic gas cap may not work because it depends on where the Camry was made. Different fuel systems.

the trac light on my 2003 Buick Century has gone off for years, but with your info I cleaned all around the gas cap and on the fuel side, too--would not believe how much dirt had built up all these years. Started the car--so far no trac light is showing--thank you so much. I love youtube

OMG, thank you so much! I was driving home from my daughter's house, sitting at a stop light when my 2004 Toyota Highlander started shaking a little and all those lights lit up like a Christmas tree! I was so scared, I thought I wasn't going to make it the two miles I had left to drive, thinking the worst and how much it was going to cost to get fixed, whatever it was. When I got home I went right to KZfaq and started searching. As I was listening to your video I remembered I got gas earlier today. I went back out to the car and checked the gas cap and sure enough it was loose. But, it's dark and late so I tightened the cap and I'll clean it all up tomorrow. I wanted to thank you for handing me my night of sleep that was surely going to be lost to worry had I not found your video! THANK YOU!

This happenned to me when i was in trip to my sisters house week ago, Did not even notice gas cap as culprit, shaked and lit up all those three lights, felt like car gonna stop completely, lost power etc. on my way home filled the gas and tightened nicely, Now i know what was that !!!! 😮😮😮😮 04 landcruiser Prado ( Australian model)

Paul, had my car in a local garage to replace a sticking cam solenoid. Had them look at why my Check VSC light kept coming on. I went through 5 of your suggestions for fixing it, but it continued to stay on. They told me that the G sensor was not correctly calibrated, and they took care of that. No problems now. So happy to finally have that fixed on my 2001 Lexus LS430. Always appreciate your videos! God Bless You!

THANK YOU SOO VERY MUCH!!! I had been stranded with mother & 2 young children, Hybrid displayed VSC and would not go. Computer is WAY TOO SMART! I simply cleaned the gas cap & metal ring as you demonstrated. I then unhooked the negative battery cable for 3 minutes to reset the computer. Highlander Hybrid started with NO lights whatsoever! May God BLESS YOU for taking the time to make a well explained & helpful video!!!

this is the best video ever. most videos tells you only to tighten the gas cap (did not solve my problem) but this tells you to clean the gas cap with engine oil (preferred) which fix my problem right away. thanks man.

Hi Paul, Thank you for sharing the fix. I cleaned up the rim and changed the gas cap, pushed the trac off as you said and the light did not go off immediately. However, after I drove about 25 miles on the highway, parked the care and when I started it up 3 hours later they were off. So thanks again!

the check engine light and VSC and Trac off sign a came on at once while I was driving on the freeway. I have a 2008 Toyota sienna with 130k miles on it. I was really nervous at first because I thought it was a big problem and I was gonna spend a lot of money. your video helped me out. I put some oil on the gas cap and closed until I heard one click and thank God it worked.

Followed these instructions for my 2007 Toyota Tundra....cleaned the tank spout and oiled the ring. Held the VSC Sensor button and the issued cleared! I am still going to replace my gas cap, but what a fantastic video. Thank You!!!

Yes it could be the gas cap. Follow the instructions in all three (3) video's of mine. You have to first rule out if the gas cap is the problem.

Your first part worked for my highlander 2005 but I will keep this in mind in case the problem reoccurs. Thanks again. I was going to take my vehicle into the auto repair shop but it didn’t feel like anything was wrong with my vehicle other than lights appearing on the dashboard.

@@lilmike1965 The gas cap was the issue for me. Now I always make sure it's turned til it clicks and I make sure the ring is lubed. I straight freak out wen I see a dash light come on. I'm so protective of my car it's insane 😏

Thank goodness. I had just started on a vacation trip with my family when all these lights came on. I saw part 1 of your video and made sure cap was tight. Lights still on. Was suspecting worn out gas cap before seeing this video, and this affirms my suspicion. Going to contact the closest Toyota dealer in the morning and order a new cap. Thank you and KZfaq.

I have the same light, not everyone is fortunate to a loose gas cap as the issue ! You have to use a scanner to be sure. I went to autozone as I had the engine light and VSC light at the same time. After scanning the code was ps0037 ( oxygène sensor needs to be replaced ) Drivable but need to be replace or in some cases the car will loose power a lil bit, in most cases the car will just have a bag fuel efficiency !!

I haven't even tried it yet but you relieved so much stress for me I was so worried because I cannot afford the mechanic at this point. And as soon as you said that I remember that the last time I filled up at the gas station my son filled up the tank. Thank you! After cleaning the rim and using a bit of WD-40 on the O-ring the Check Engine and VSC lights quit staying on. Had caused much worry for a relative's 2004 Lexus RX 330 during the pandemic.

Nice one. I had the same problem, and cleaned the cap, and turned the O ring around, and nothing changed, until I then tried putting the lubricant around the ring and it cleared the error immediately! Brilliant, thank you!

I have a 2006 Sienna and had my check engine, VSC, TRAC light all on at the same time after starting the engine last Sunday. I tried part 1 of the video and that didn't help, but then I tried this video and I just cleaned the gas cap and rim and now, three days later, it's still working fine with no error lights. Thanks so much! It worked. My 2010 Corolla is now back to its regular sewing machine smooth as glass running condition. I merely wiped off the gas spout and wiped a little WD-40 onto the "O" ring gasket on the cap and the lights turned off. What a great find. I love KZfaq!!

I encountered this problem just today in my Lexus IS250. I literally paid for the mechanic to diagnose the problem took my car home to find out i still had this very problem was freaking out thinking it was gonna cost a fortune did what you did in this video and cars been running mint without it now so THANK YOU for this video you seriously have no idea how much this helped me!!

Thank you for your helpful video. I am a 66 year old woman, who just fixed her husband's car!!!! I followed your video. Tried gas cap 1st and it was not tightened to the 1 click.... But, that did not turn off the VCS and Check Engine lights, so I got out my ratchet set and unhooked the car battery, waited about 15 minutes, hooked battery back up and started car. Both of the warning lights are now off!!! Yay!

I have a 2005 Lexus 330 with 97k miles. All three lights came on at the same time yesterday as I was driving. I viewed these videos trying to figure the problem out. I discovered no obvious fault with the old gas cap. So I just replaced it this morning with a new one I purchased from the dealer in town. After three cycles of starting and stopping the engine, all three lights went off at the same time. Fixed. Thanks much!

Thank you! Changed my highlander 2007 fuel cap for $19.15, less than 5 miles lights disappeared. Before changing, i told about the video to guy at Autozone and he laughed, said that is 2 different system. I told him if it will be fixed I will come and tell. he said, ok. Now, I cannot wait to tell him that. This time my turn to laugh. )

So I inspected my gas cap, lubricated it with WD-40, made sure I heard the "click" when I tightened the cap, drove for approx 40-50 miles and the lights are OFF!!!!! Btw my Sienna is a 2008, with approximately 225000. It runs well and the only major work I've done, besides annual maintenance such as a tune up, is replace the water pump, alternator, and battery. Besides this fluke, I'm pretty pleased with my Sienna and I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off. Thanks again.

Thank you for the guidance. This step worked. I checked O ring and then sprayed WD40 on gas cap interior. Cleared the problem right up!!

Thanks for the video! Part 2 worked for me. I cleaned the gas tank rim area and cap and lubed the ring. I then took a local 10-minute drive. An hour later when I started my car, the lights were all gone. Yeah! 2008 Toyota Sienna. Hope it doesn’t come back on.

This video saves my life! I'm serious! My significant others car is having major issues with a costly fix, found that out yesterday. Then today on the freeway all 3 lights shot on! Weird part is, and maybe it's normal but it really affected the way my Toyota excelrated. It wouldn't pick up and was pretty much stuck at 3000 rpms at a cruising speed. I was terrified. Got home, found your video I cleaned up the rim. No luck. Added some engine oil to the dry o ring then pow! Magic! The lights are off. Took a drive around the block and it seems to be accelerating like normal. The real test will be the freeway tomorrow wish me luck.

This is absolutely incredible. I have been charged a small fortune by garages trying to fix THIS PROLEM Ive had fuel sensors put in, new catalytic converter ,the 3 lights just kept coming back on. I am in awe.

@@rolandroland1485 It was this very issue! Check engine light came on with 2 the indicator lights. Trac and VSC .I was first charged 600 for a fuel sensor. Didnt fix the problem. Then I was told there was a second sensor needed replacing. Another 600. The didn't work.I was told I needed new catalytic convertor.Another 600. That didn't work either. I have since been disconnecting the battery and tightening the fuel cap to remove these lights.This at least works for some time. There doesn't seem to be any mechanical problem in several years of these lights appearing.

Art of Ayurvedic Cooking things like this gets so upset and pissed, those guys are just not either specialists or they just wanted money because they knew you would just agree to anything. Mechanics just want to make money !!!!! Also a warning do not necessarily means your car is broken or any serious damaged, it just warn you something is operating correctly ( could be minimal or big ) Always do some research first before going to the mechanic, before performing anything make sure they will responsible for any wrong diagnostic that way they will take the job seriously and avoid any potential unethical activity. Lastly , you know your car more than anybody therefore you should notice if there is a major or slice difference in the way the car is driving prior and after the notice the warning light such as, the way the car idling l, power performing , fuel efficient, rpm movements, unusual noise ! If you don’t notice none of those things do not give more than 300$ to any mechanics. Get a scanner, plug it and see what is troubleshoot and check online how it cost to repair it and what trigger the wading light to come on . Hope this helped 👍🏿

If you don’t have a scanner take it to your nearest autozone they will let you borrow the scanner and you can plug it, take it back to the cashier they will plug it to the computer to read it and the screen will show you the issue. I have the speed sensor problem and my engine light is on as well as well as the VSC light. I haven’t taken to the mechanic yet and I have been driving it for 4 weeks now and no issues except a slight fuel consumption issue, other than that the car is running fine.

This also happened to my 2010 Venza a couple of days ago after driving on empty gas, so I filled up my gas tank of about 15 + gals of gasoline. As i stepped on the gas onto the freeway, both my engine light and VSC light came on. My vehicle is scheduled for service on Tuesday to fix the situation but I will try this video advice first. Praying it will work, or it will costs me an arm and a leg at the dealership.

Great info. I like to just replace my gas cap and radiator cap anytime I buy a used car or every 10 years they can both wear out and its easy preventitve maintenance.

My 2012 rav4 has these lights on 4x4 works but won’t unlock and when I went to put $20 of fuel in her it took me a lot longer than it should have because it kept shutting the pump off if I had my hand on trigger all the way. I literally just picked this rig up a month ago without looking at it because my friend is trustworthy so I parked her at my cabin until a few days ago and finally got a chance to drive the rig and it has the same lights on. my friend thought there was alot going wrong with it and parked her for 2 years lol I pray this is all that’s wrong with her because yah don’t get much for $800 anymore and she runs good and handles better.
