Many thanks you saved me $200.00 plus labor for a new oxygen sensor. The garage diagnostic tester said I needed a new Oxygen Sensor. I performed your part 3 and everything is clear with no error lights, great job. No wonder the garage hates your videos. Please keep up the great work…

Hi Paul, Thank you for saving me some money! I drove through our first winter snow in Chicago this past weekend in heavy slush. My check engine light and vehicle stability control lights lit up and would not turn off. I tried your first two methods over the last two days without success. I then tried this method. The only added thing I did was pull my car out of the garage and drove it a few blocks. I then pulled over and turned my car off. Upon restarting all of the warning lights turned off. They haven't come back on since, so it look like your third method worked for me. It saved me a trip to the dealer and some change for Christmas. Thanks again!

Thanks, your videos saved me about $100 at my local repair shop, diagnosis alone would have been $59. Cleaning around gas filler cap didn't work but replacing with a new filler cap did. Much appreciated.

Not solely for the huge costs, but also for the time and the hassle of dealing with the arrogant service people. Yesterday I had to drive on very slippery roads because of the freezing rain. What a place to have a button! My friend accidentally pressed it with his foot one day (as it's located in the passenger side of my UK Lexus), it took me ages to understand why the Engine warning light came on. Then my wife did it the other day, and luckily I knew what to do. Cheers.

I cleaned the cap area as mentioned in Part 2, and did this. The first time it did not work. The second time I did not start the car but turned the key enough for all lights to appear - and voilà .. it WORKED!! .. Thank you Paul for these suggestions. You saved me time, aggravation and money!! God Bless you too!!

You're welcome! I really believe the teflon lubricant works best on the gas cap O-ring.

Found out on my 2003 Highlander, that a loose hose connecting to my air filter was the culprit. Secured the hose, fixed the problem. Just thought you'd like to know. Thanks for all of your great information!

I went to Germaine Toyota where I bought my car. My dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. They said it would cost $6366.00 to fix replace my fuel injection pump, valves, gasket etc.... So, I came home and was freaking out. I'm not gonna lie. I looked up some stuff on KZfaq and found this. I went and bought a new gas cap. Lights still on, went to the grocery store. Guess what. No lights. Yes!!!! Thank you Jesus!!!!

Especially women - car shops are notorious for mistreating women when it comes to auto repair. Scumbags! Hi Paul, On holiday in France, our 2010 Toyota Verso rolled backwards down a steep hill with the gear in third, causing the engine to turn backwards for just a yard or so before I slammed on the breaks. It had difficulty starting for a couple of seconds after that, but more annoyingly, VSC Off and Check Engine both came on and wouldn’t go away. That is, until I tried your fix: unscrewing the filler cap and putting it back on, and then the VSC Off button trick as shown in this video. And yay, it worked! Thank you so much for this video. We had the 1200 km drive home the next day and all went swimmingly with zero warning lights and the Verso plowing through those steep French highways like a battleship. Again, thank you!

Thanks! It worked on my 2006 sienna. The reason the lights came on was because I tried your advice for checking the Mass Air Flow sensor check. I unplugged it while running and it dies ,which means its working. Yeah! But it did throw the engine, Trac control, vsc, all three lights came on. Good thing you showed me this way to get it reset. I was worried about that for a second. Good to go now. God bless you. Subscribing and liking right now.

Thank you Jon.. step 3 worked for my 2009 Toyota Avalon.. I took my car of to autozone to get it scanned and was told it was an ignition coil so I checked the 3 coils up front by unplugging them and they all seemed to be working fine.. drove car and car was driving fine so I decided to get on KZfaq and found this video and sure enough it worked.. will update if it come back but so far so good.. thank you

This helped! I did steps 1 and 2, and then tried this. I did it as he said, or as I thought he said, and it didn’t work when I started the car. However, the second time I tried, I just turned the key but did not turn the car all the way on. It worked almost instantly. Thanks!!

Wow, I have been ecstatic all day because you enabled me to fix this problem without taking my car to a shop. The reason they thought it was a position sensor was that code came up on the computer code reader done by Advance Auto (which I appreciate their good service in doing it free). I don't know if the sensors are bad, but sealing the gas cap fixed the VSC and Check Engine lights and all seems well. You are my hero for putting your knowledge on here to help people.

I wonder if the ECM had some kind of malfunction. The bottom line is if the lights are cleared and stay cleared then it's fixed. Cars are a necessary evil but boy they sure can break the bank. Finding a trust worthy mechanic is invaluable. Having a dealership repair a vehicle is a total rip off!

It happened to my son's 2004 Toyota Camry twice. The first time all I did was re-tighten the gas cap because it wasn't closed tightly then problem solved. A few months later it happened again. I retighten the gas cap but this time it did not do anything. Then I found your vd and followed the steps you showed and it turned off Check Engine, VSC, Trac Off warning lights off. It would have cost a lot of money taking it to Toyota Dealership. Thank you for sharing.

update. it came back on after a week. i took it to a mechanic and they said its my oxyen sensor and my computer need to be reprogrammed. do you know if computers for corolla can be reprogrammed or do i have to buy a new one? im hoping the former.

I feel like such a dolt. Went into panic when the 3 lights came on but knew from past experience unless check engine light is flashing, you've got time. Checked gas cap first; not even screwed in. Doh! I never did that before. Cleaned around it real good and then tried to get dash lights to come off by holding tracon button as directed. Not so lucky but hoping after driving awhile they'll come off. Proud old lady here. Thank YOU!!

You're welcome! If the gas cap was the problem all of your warning lights should turn off before you reach 50 miles of driving.

So is this an issue that needs to be fixed or is it just a messed up censor or something that means nothing? Just recently got an 06 Toyota Camry and “vsc” “trac off” and check engine light all come on at the same time . All the dealership does for me is clear the codes they won’t fix anything cuz they swear it’s “nothing to worry about”

👍👍👍 Thank you, my brother from another mother! Just shelled nearly $3K trying to fix a bunch of other stuff on my 2007 Rav-4. I viewed the first video, did what you said, and it worked. Here several weeks later and having emptied my emergency funds for new tires/struts/front passenger wheel bearing/full synthetic oil change/brake fluid flush/and more, the lights on the dash board came on again. So I just viewed this second video and... praise The Lord! It worked again!!! May God's best blessings continually shine on and overtake you, Sir. Awww! :-) Thank you, Sir, for those kind words of encouragement. I'd also like to share that His Holy Spirit is amazing! In the video, you stated that once the rim of the gas tank opening has been wiped clean with a towel to also check the O-ring for cracks. If the O-ring is a little cracked take a very small amount of lubricant like WD-40 (or something like that...lol) to rub generously over the O-ring. Although it wasn't cracked it looked very dry. I suddenly remembered that I keep a small travel tube of cherry flavored Carmex in the vehicle and used that, which worked! Won't HE do it! (Do happy praise dance here!) :-D

this just resets the lights...it doesn't address the initial cause. how do you know your car wont fail when you're doing 70 on the highway. p.s god doesnt exist.

After wiping off dust on filler and lubing O-ring with chain lube, all lights disappeared! We only had our Lexus for one day and were thinking, "Oh no". Thanks for your thoughtful video Brother.

Thank you., It worked on my Corolla 2010 "Stick Shift". Worked after my second try that I didn't step on the clutch. I pressed the button for 5 seconds then I inserted the key and turned it on "Off course the car didn't start because the clutch was not engaged", and the lights went off right away, then I started the car normally using the clutch.

Hello ! PTL ! and Thank you for your "FIX" Vid...!! Just a NOTE_ as far as resetting the VSC/Trac icon,Engine light and Red Warning Icon, What worked for my Lexus is350 was to START the car with the TRAC button pressed ,SHUT DOWN with it still pressed then waiting 10 sec and RE Starting the car up all the while with the TRAC button PRESSED IN. ONLY then did the dash lights "Reset" and the car's Idle went back to normal at Proper RPM's.

This video solved my problem but driving for two min brought it back... Check engine light ON-VSC Off blinking - TRAC light ON. My Q is... Was this a bandaid over a bigger problem and ‘why’ were those codes thrown in the first place and why did this fix the problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated-I want my car to be working properly not just a lack of lights. 08 RX 350 🤙🏽
