Good water filter , cartridge can last 2 years will prefilter , only problem I have is with the prefilter , I can’t open it to clean the wire mesh ,the plastic looks too fragile .. I dare not risk it , I just turn the bottom to remove the dirt

I almost bought it, because I loved its small size. However. I saw the buyer reviews on 3M site about the produce, and found that the filter may need to replace every half year. I then canceled the plan for it, and bought a product from a different company instead. I think 3M should have a warranty on the filter's lasting time.

Good guide. Can I know what is your inlet operating pressure and is it possible to know pressure after the filter? My concern is just on the pressure drop.

Inlet operating pressure may vary based on area. You may install a pressure gauge for monitoring.

Hi Kok Gei, I have this 3M filter installed in my condo too. May i know which prefilter diameter is suitable for the 3M AP902 filter? I saw in the link you shared above there are three different prefilter sizes. Thanks.

I think the 1" is the best since the nominal size for 3M AP902 is 1" too. This will lessen the number of parts.

I think I found the answer after searching online. Is it a buteline fitting? It is white colour so I thought it is a tape. Do you have this in your store? Thx anyway

Hi very good video. Im looking for outdoor filter as well. Other than cost, any benefit compared to other outdoor filter like coway or cuckoo. For 3m i understand that we need to change the filter every year and there is no back flushing and we cannot open the filter to clean it manually i.e every 6 month, etc. Thanks

Yes, you got it right! 3M AP902 is like a one way street filter, which is more efficient in water filtration. However, this will also exhaust the cartridge especially when the incoming water supply is dirty. Perhaps, you can install a pre-filter to prolong it and save cost.

It is recommended to replace the cartridge every 12 months. I did install a pre filter to extend the lifespan, for another 3-6 months.

What's the purpose having prefilter if the main filter is capable of filtering much smaller particle?

The prefilter can reduce the workload solely on the main filter. Any particles above 50 microns will be screened in the prefilter, and it can be flush off easily and periodically. Thus, extending the life span of the main filter.

Since 3M Outdoor water filter is a single way and non-backwash water filter, having a prefilter really helps.

Hi Mr. Kok Gei, the safety pin quite tight and can't remove the cartridge. Is is ok, I spray the WD40 to safety pin?

Please try this. After closing the incoming valve, open any tap near by at outgoing to release the trapped pressure. This will help!

AP902 comes with 1" NPT fittings, how to convert to Malaysia standard BSPT?

I believe for the Malaysian market, it has converted into BSP standard. I have installed the same unit at home. No issues.

i am considering installing a filtration system. with this 3M model how bad is the drop in water pressure?

It really depends on the water pressure at your area. For mine, it's sufficient that I don't even install a water pump at the ground level. Mark the date of the replacement cartridge, and check every 3 months. Or you may install a water pre-filter to prolong the life span.

Pre filter has a filtering between 40-60micron, which is not sufficient to filter off micro size.
