My experience with Aero Road Helmets has not been a great one, so the Bullet has been a really nice surprise. I wanted to avoid making this a Road vs Aero Road type thing, but it was hard to avoid especially when it comes to making conclusions.
The biggest thing here is are you willing to make the sacrifices of weight and ventilation to gain some extra speed on the flats. What this helmet does really well is give you options, so you can go FULL AERO all the way to 3 hours climbing around Berry with the same aero helmet.
I can't wait to hear your feedback on the pros and cons of aero road helmets, and if anyone has some Bullet experience, it would be great to hear from you.
As for the iPhone Xs, yeh ... disappointed. I even shot shot of it in a flat colour profile using FilmiC Pro to get rid of that over exposure, but I'm still not really happy with it. Let me know in the comments what you thought of the quality.
Full disclosure: I was given a discount on this helmet, however I did pay for it. We also paid for the Lazer Z1 helmets that the team have been running.

Missin' the kiddos and the wifey. Nice personal bit . Thanks. Just quickly, geek time, when the air sticks together in nice layers it's called laminar flow. That's fast. When it breaks off and tumbles it's turbulence. Turbulence is drag and that's slow. Imagine moving through a curtain and when you do, the curtain is still. Still as you open it, still as you move through it, still after you're gone.

So what you are saying is me vlogging on the bike is not aero 😊. Sweet info though Michael.

It's a one stop helmet for me. Well and truly good enough for your standard road ride. The weight is there but not too much of a factor because the fit is just so nice. For racing is you say it's great. The vents let it easily handle a longer hot road ride. I don't find myself grabbing for the z1 much at all. Did I mention how comfortable it was?

My most favourite helmet was the Kask Mojito. I have the bullet and agree with most of your observations but do find i get fairly head sweaty and thats in the 🇬🇧

Hey Glyn, great to have you on board. We are down in Geelong a bit with Al just over in Lara, we also have the Vic squad guys (sammy/Leigh etc) racing the local stuff there. I'll let you know when we are down that way

Hi Glyn, as Chris mentioned we have a strong Victorian rider base, with me in Geelong (Lara) and the rest of the boys in Melbourne. We race at Kew on Wednesdays, and St Kilda and Glenvale on weekends along with social rides along Beach Road. We try and fit social rides in between National Road Series Races and Victorian Road Series events. We will plan a few Victorian social rides, so keep an eye out on our Facebook. Cheers Alastair

Hey Miller, can you try to equalize the volume if the music in comparison to your voice / commentary from the footage? I always have to lower the volume when the music comes on and then crank it up to hear what you're saying. Other than that, great vids man keep up the good work.

I hear (no pun intended) what you're saying mate, the audio was an absolute nightmare on the bike this time around. For some reason the iPhone was getting smashed with wind distortion, the only fix of course was to run some form of noise cancellation, but like you pointed out, that effects the overall audio level ... anyway man, I'll keep an eye on it. I really want to shoot as much of these 'review' VLOGs out on the bike as possible, but there is no doubt a tipping point when you guys can't actually hear what I'm saying. Cheers for the comment though, and I'll keep working on it

Chris Miller Cycling may be a hell of a lot less less convenient but if the audio quality is worth it perhaps a recording device and a lapel could help? Or bring the mucus levels down in post. Cheers mate! Remember what's most important is that you have fun and keep cycling, you weapon you.

But the big question... how do the sunnies fit on them
@ChrisMillerCycling
@ChrisMillerCycling 5 жыл бұрын
ok, so ... they don't. I ended up running the sunnies around the back, which worked ok. I also must say I prefer the other sunnes (the ones I was running in the King Valley Vlog) for this helmet.

Is this the Bullet 2.0 or the old Bullet? I owned the old bullet, and ventilation was awful. Most of the time I couldn't see because of sweat pouring into my eyes, even in 3 degrees, with the vent open.
@ChrisMillerCycling
@ChrisMillerCycling 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, it is the 'old' Bullet. That is not good to hear you have been having those sweat problems. Too be honest, I really love mine. I did a 6 month review recently after doing a 280km road race in 27 degrees ... have to say it performed really well. Not sure what differences the 2.0 offer, at this stage it just looks like a very expensive eye shield .
@edwardhiggs6686
@edwardhiggs6686 5 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisMillerCycling they have apparently improved the venting, and added the eyesheild. The last one was made purely on computer simulations, whereas the 2.0 has done windtunnel time to improve it. I'm curious to try it. Just a little held back after my recent experience. I know headshapes can effect venting too. So maybe I have a head that doesn't suit the channelling..... Ahwell!

What's scarier, how good the Bullet is, or how vascular Chris' legs are.
