Nice review. I was looking for a small flashlight for self-defense that fits in my pocket nicely. This seems like it would be perfect. I probably only need the high setting for a second or two when threatened. So I'm thinking that heat is not going to be an issue.

I would recommend something smaller and has strobe like edc 27 for me when I go camping with my son strobe seems to be more affective against animals idk tho whatever works for you

Nitecore EDC33 (from Google translator): arrived today 2/01/2024 and returned after 2 hours, it's not all positive! PRO: 1) incredibly powerful; 2) fast charging; 3) pocket-sized. AGAINST: 1) the lighting sequence is incomprehensible or doesn't work, it switches from maximum to ultra low without intermediate steps (it's a new product, there may be something to review); 2) it heats up too quickly and being small forces you to hold it from the end with just your fingers and use it with two hands (it cannot be used as a tactical torch); 3) the power button causes too much resistance on the second click and it is not possible to use it holding the flashlight with only one hand, especially when the flashlight is hot because the hand has to slide backwards and to change brightness you need to use two hands; 4) it's shameful that it doesn't come with a case, it has a strap that's useless (low-grade gadget). Final judgement: powerful but unmanageable.

I have had this for a couple of weeks? Since its release anyway. It has become the one I grab more than any other. The non replaceable battery does not bother me. Even tho I use this pretty much everyday (at least for the time being, until something else becomes my go to).

A non replaceable battery is a non starter for me, so I won't be considering this light. I have two Nitecore lights so far and like them. The MH12S being my primary EDC.

The EDC35 just came out. But I don't have a need to get a more powerful light in this configuration.

I am so upset, i just received the edc 35 today. I had it on in low mode and slid the lock out button on and the light flashed then went out. It will not turn back on. I am so disappointed. Its a good thing this wasnt a life or death situation.

@@thetexasgunvault yes sir. And it wont even charge now. The charging lights wont even light up. Its evident i think that the light somehow shortened out when i switch the lockout on while the light was on(although thats what it says in the instructions to do). However, I have contacted them etc and they are going to replace it free of charge.

It actually has a proximity sensor so that if it's in your pocket it will not go to full power.

@@thetexasgunvault i’m from europe, i had once to work once with some awsome poeple from oaklahoma and texas, and i had a hard time with inches, yards etc . I understand the struggle especially when you make these videos one shot , you didn’t mess up anything. Over and out 🫡

1) To make the flashlight as short as possible. A removable 18650 would add one inch to the overall length. 2) A built-in battery allow for a lot of electronic circuitry to reside in the tailcap side of the flashlight. The dual-press switch, the charging port, the fuel gauge, the lockout switch, couldn't be placed where they are, but at the business end of the EDC33 if the battery were removable. I know a fixed battery in a light isn't ideal, but it allows for interesting design choices. There are backups and alternatives with a removable battery. You don't EDC carry a single light, don't you? Greetings, Anthony

@@rayoflight62 Thank you for the detailed response, compelling arguments :) My main concern with the built-in battery is that if it wears out after a while, it will be difficult to replace, likely requiring service. Another issue is that if it runs out of power, I won't have a lamp until it's recharged (unless I have another one :)
