Caleb is once again joined by Adam from Spiritus Systems, who compares and contrasts for us the Spiritus Micro Fight Mk IV and Mk V chest rigs. The "mark" number indicates the generation of the product, so Spiritus has developed five iterations of the Micro Fight. The Mk V has MOLLE slots on the front, laser-cut holes for magazine retention bungees (if you use 'em), and a single compartment inside. This keeps the Mk V's profile as low as possible, so when you attach MOLLE gear to the front of it, overall bulk is kept to a minimum.
But wait, the Micro Fight Mk IV's double pocket makes it preferable in certain situations. Many Spiritus customers still like it, so it is also still in production. The Mk IV's pockets enable you to carry can carry TWO magazine inserts in it. Law enforcement folks also like the extra pocket on the Mk IV to carry handcuffs, a taser, and other LE-specific items.
You can attach a large pouch to the front of the Micro Fight Mk V for additional storage. And unlike the Mk IV, you can attach additional pouches or mag carriers to the SIDES of the Mk V. The Mk IV gives you more storage out of the gate, but the Mk V is the way to go when you need a minimalist setup. If you need more storage down the line, you can easily add onto the Mk V. Which Micro Fight chest rig is better? The one that serves YOUR needs the best!

I agree with this. Don't ever change this, Brownell. Even if some hip, new videographer wants to come in and add all these special effects and transitions. Keep this approach. It's part of y'all's image now and it works.

Can you still store a pmag one handed with the elastic insert? Or will the crush and you would have to hold it open while trying to store it?
@CalebSavant
@CalebSavant Жыл бұрын
Not a problem, the velcro holds it secure enough that it will not crush when you force a magazine into it.

Interesting products.....I haven't heard of this company but I really like that mark 5 with the "utility pouch" on the front for a "prepper" plate carrier setup......I HAVE 1 QUESTION.... Is there a mag insert for the AR10/308 Magpul 25 round magazines ....I would have to mag insert setups 1 for 5.56 and 1 for 308

Having a velcro pouch with just handcuffs in it wouldn't be much of a problem because the officer would be giving verbal directions to the suspect before ripping velcro.

@@christophergreen2892 Velcro & even snaps holding the handcuffs sound like starter pistols when cuffing a suspect. You pull on the closure & suddenly you find yourself in a wrestling match &/or footchase.

@@doughesson My point is that an arrest is often such a noisy event that the noise from velcro or any other retaining system doesn't matter. Also, the officer has determined the area safe enough to sling or holster their weapon to apply handcuffs. As far as the sound of snaps and velcro starting a fight or flight, how do police carry cuffs? I don't think Taco pouches are universal, so those sounds are not unusual during arrests. And snaps aren't always "starter pistol" noisy.

I think it’s absurd to go willingly into an armed conflict with anything more than a Spiritus Micro Rig with 3 mags. Because if you’re gonna die, you should look like a tier 1 flannel operator while your perforated carcass is laying in a ditch with crappy drawers. Make sure you have your kestrel, laser rangefinder and a GPS in the $79 utility pouch. Because if you’re taking incoming fire, you’re definitely going to want to take time to range the target and dial in your Nightforce optic and take one precise shot. Everyone knows that watching your impact and implementing a holdover to rapidly engage a threat is for noobs, and you’re only an operator if you have your dope chart in your multicam wristband. Don’t be a poser. All those pouches filled with extra mags are for larpers. Your belt should have nothing on it except your sexy plastic holster for a glock with a red dot and flashlight plus 2 extra pistol mags you’ll never use in a fight. Never put any other gear on your hips just because that’s where you’re anatomically best equipped to carry a load. It doesn’t look cool. Everything, including your lunch, wet weather gear, prescription meds, land nav, and night vision, should all be on your chest rig. If it interferes with your reload in a fight and you die from it, it’s only because you didn’t spend enough money going to training courses where some washed up security guard yells at you about your split times and not flicking your safety back on fast enough while you’re rehearsing how to navigate the numerous pouches on your loadout. Get good.
