Used to be in to train sets as a kid, there's a lot of track there and it doesn't come cheap. One of the most expensive hobbies I had 😂

I can remember that grey box with the big dial on it as a kid….. that controls the speed of the train. Hours of fun could be had with that train track

Good video as always if that's a Perkins engine they normally have an electric pump in the filter housing should be an electrical plug had them before where pump is in filter housing

Hi Chris...love the channel its full of everything. That railway seems to be a 12 volt dc set up. I recon the tracks are double o gauge. You will need to get a double o gauge train. Hornby would be the way to go. Charlie over on chadwic railway or budget railways are good channels to watch both channels go into great detail . Charlie explains the wiring and track laying in detail. Those switches on the layout are for the points that change the train from one line to another. It would be interesting to see ye get that up and running

Ever time I get a notification that you have released a new video it’s straight on the tv and also thank you for the advice you have given me as well, you engineering background has helped me so much when it come to repairing the heritage locomotives I work on. In terms of model railway I’m in the process of buildings a 80ft garden and indoor oo gauge layout which will be full automation off of a computer so trains will run them selves along with signals, point and even day and night simulation all controlled by a PC. The texture under the railway track is called ballest and it’s to replicate the stone that you see under the railway lines in real life. If you want to see what it’s like having trains as a hobby then start off with DC. If you want to go crazy like I have with DCC you can have sound in the individual locomotives and also if you want to take it a step further you can have trucks going round the layout with a kit from Fuller car system. I maybe a little far from yourself but where I can give advice I’m more then happy too

Hi Chris, Where the Partic shop is on Sandy Lane Industrial estate I used to work opposite it at a company called MechSpec who used to restore and repair MG's. I was a mechanic/welder car body guy for them for 4 years or so rebuilding the old MGB's and other cars.. I recognised it streight away as you pulled in.That was about 28 years ago..lol time flys.

Just been in my loft looking at my old set when I was a kid…the track gauge on this set up is called 00 gauge so that will be the track size so the trains will be the same mate.. the box you were playing with which had the controller knob is the speed controller and all you do is connect it up to tracks and plug into a house plug and the tracks will be powered! You need to make sure the track is a full loop for it to work from memory.. lots of time and effort has gone into this track set up so would be a shame to remove it.

I wonder if you did a contest for a ride along with the struggler, including a chance to buy you lunch.

I'm really surprised that engine with the broken belt hasn't over heated with the amount of fluff and shite in the engine bay just like the the compressor that you did for Scotty, they should be cleaned out every few months.
