A huge thank you to Wilbers suspension ( www.wilbersusa.com ) for providing a top of the line suspension system for my 2021 ‪@harleydavidson‬ Ultra Limited. I am blown away by the difference, and I now "get it" why so many riders immediately ditch factory suspension. Please ask questions below, I read EVERY comment and respond to most!

I’m sure the shocks were a step up but after watching your ride I’d kill for roads that pristine, even a hard tail looks workable. Testing suspension in my neck of the woods would be more like an off road enduro... Here sober people swerve and the drunks stay straight. So jealous, keep up the channel, Thanks

2020 street glide changed the shocks to legend ,front end pounded ! Installed the Wilbers spring kit( it's not hard:) Totally different bike!! One does not know how bad the stock suspension is to you change it out! I never ride 2 up and honestly the Wilbers rear was out of reach! Cancer has left my back a mess but this upgrade will keep me inbthe wind! Ride well.🍻

I total agree that you get what you pay for and on this blog this suspension might be the best but...For alot of people we have to do whats best for us and that includes what we can afford...On my Dyna FatBob after a front seal and bushing job i installed Progressive HDuty fork springs and on the rear i put DS Hduty shocks that are adjustable up to 1/2in up or down...i run it at 12 1/2...the result it rides great for me handles like a dream...Is it the best i could have put on it?...No but i paid under $400 for them...And i am happy with it...

You have to get the front upgraded as well! Klaus was "lying", the front makes around 30-40% of the improvement-so lots of future six-packs to be picked up... Make sure, they do the install right. Oil level is different from Harley, 110mm on yours, (Road Glide CVO is different (125mm, I recommend 140mm on that which is still within Wilbers spec)) AND fork springs with progressive end up (different from the Harley way)

@@ProfessionalMonkey Check out my Road Glide CVO Wilbers install video, showing all the tools. To get access to the upper fork bolts, you need to remove the cover of the upper triple tree. Two T25 left and right and the fiddle out the cover. Easier when having removed the seat and all four fuel tank bolts, so you can slide the tank back by 1 in. As mentioned in the video, only RG CVO need a change of the top out springs, you just open the fork plugs exchange oil and springs and reassemble everything

I have on order a 2021 Harley Tri Glide and as part of the deal I am having the entire suspension front and rear changed out to Legends before I pick it up. I think that a suspension up-grade should be the first thing done on a bike before anything else, regardless of what premium brand aftermarket suspension you buy. I have nothing against Harley but the stock suspensions are a one size fits all.

I guess your answer is going to be Wilbers. It’s good to see installs of some of the less popular brands that have their own niche in the market. Most people post videos about installing Legend or Öhlins. Those are not the only 2 companies selling upgraded suspensions. There are a couple others worthy of consideration for almost every budget and riding style.

I ride a bagger with the full Wilbers system (forks and rear LDC shocks). Couple of things to mention. Firstly, you need to get the weight calculation right. I ended up with too soft a spring because I underestimated and had to buy a stronger spring for the conventional rear shock. In Europe it cost me €100. Its an easy swap. Secondly, most of the benefit may be in the rear shock, and I know many bagger riders who have the rear only set-up, but changing the front springs with the heavier oil makes a big difference to the bike’s ride and handling. The Wilbers system works great, it improves comfort, and above all the bike is far more capable and stable over bumps and in the twisties.

There are so many companies making improved suspension for the baggers. Legend RWD Öhlins Progressive Wilbers ThunderMax Just to name a few. Some of these brands offer different variants with different options. I decided to go for 13" Öhlins, since you can select the right spring for your setup, and then dial it in for your preferred preload and rebound damping (mine don't have adjustable compression damping). Since I ride one and two-up, I went for a progressive spring rate (25~35 N/mm, 60360-17). They are a major improvement over stock, but I've never compared them to other shocks, so I don't know how well they perform compared to other brands.

Honestly, the difference between a well (!) dialed in Öhlins and Wilbers is small (I had both types). The Wilbers Nivomat just takes the guesswork out of the equation, as it is self adjusting even during changing road conditions. AND no more saddlebag removement to change between one or two up. The Wilbers Nivomat is simply better, but would I change from an already upgraded suspension to Wilbers (even as I sell them)-no. It would be too much extra $$s for a small extra improvement. Total different story, if you start from stock and want to upgrade-go for Wilbers.

@@ironsteed5766 I own a streetglide and live in the UK the suspension is about the first thing I changed (legends front and rear) the stock suspension is painfully poor. How Harley haven’t done anything to sort it out is beyond me it is the one historic criticism of Harley I have to concede to none Harley riders . I love the bike but I do feel slightly angry about having to put another $3000 into a bike to make it do what Harley says it should standard.

I have swapped out both the front and rear suspension for legends. You do the rear for comfort and the front for the handling. Before I did it I took my wife pillion for about 150 miles and the trip nearly ended in divorce the ride was that bad. After I got the suspension changed we did the same trip and both my wife and I could have done the same again without complaint. The new cartridges in the front has eliminated the excessive dive and I feel I am able to break harder and with more control. I am surprised that you haven’t changed out the suspension before as it is the one part of the bike that is really poor right out of the box.

Great comments brother, such an accurate statement. The front is for handling while the rear is mostly comfort (unless you carve the canyons like I do on my Road King). My RS-1's from RWD are fully adjustable.

A typical day of riding for me and my wife is anywhere between 200 and 300 miles on back roads. Suspension made a huge difference and I highly recommend replacing both the front and rear shocks. The only question I have about the rears is are they rebuildable? I find this to be important so I rebuild my Ohlins front and rears every two years or 35,000 miles.

You get a five year warranty for the set. The right conventional shock can be send to Wilbers for service, the Nivomat can't. This is designed by ZF (the car guys!) to last 180.000mls-enjoy the ride...

The better question is why do Harley Davidson bikes not come with better suspension standard . . . . especially since you're paying and arm and a leg for one.

You should take the chance to change the front yourself. I just did legends on my front and if you change your own tires your only a couple steps away from having the forks out. You don't have to pull rhe SG fairing just the ignition cover and the front fork cover, the blinkers and then 3 clamp screws on each fork and they drop right out. You need a long 12mm Allen and a 3/4 or 18mm Allen. Then a 49mm fork seal seat tool. Takes about 3.5 hours or a 12 pack and a cigar and some good company. With all you do to your bikes it will be simple lol. And a good day project..

How many miles do you have on the bike? With not more than 10000mls, it is just a simple oil and springs change. Check my YT videos, one RG CVO full Wilbers install and a RKS heated grips (showing details of how to get to the top forkleg screws). Very important, oil level for your bike 110mm and Wilbers fork springs are mounted with progressive (thicker) ends up.

I just installed 4 kits during the last weekend (here in Germany) and just got smiling faces and thumbs up from the owners. I recommend Race Tech from Corona California. They make suspension for all types of bikes. I saw that retro Electra glide at the local Harley dealer today. Bike looks nice but not worth $29000 and the seat isn't even a real solo nor packing seat. Pretty lame.
