I think you are totally right on that . I had two different seats on my 75 FXE and people told me I was nuts ,but I had a Bar hopper and a long haul seat. Say Hi to Mrs. Monkey , and the Little Monkey And tell the I keep them In my Prayers also. God bless ,And ride safe .

I have a heated seat and a world of difference for winter, early spring, and fall. Maybe I have gotten soft in old age, but that and heated hand grips make my riding year longer and much more enjoyable.

Definitely agree with you on the “at least 2 seats” I live in Alberta Canada. If any of you have been here, you know. We have some long assed boring roads and highways with nothing between but forests and fields unless you’re in the mountains. You don’t always want the “pretty” seat when you have a couple hundred KM between gas stations

Tried many over the years, some for style and some for comfort - with age, COMFORT wins out! Settled on Saddlemen for both bikes - Extended Road Sofa w/ backrest for the 14-FLHTK (2-UP) & Extended Lariet Solo Seat w/ backrest for the 15-FLHR. The gel technology is a winner. Like you said, it's an individual preference - Safe travels to/from Sturgis... Bones

I have tried HD, Corbin and Mustang... the HD Sundowner was a decent seat. Unfortunately, I found it plain. The Corbin seat was nice and looked good. It was hard and took a couple of years to break in. The Mustang seats are my favorite. No break in required and they stay comfortable for as long as you own your bike. My two cents :-)

I run a Harley tall boy seat from the day I bought my bike and love it. I had no problems at all riding from Pa to Myrtle Beach in one day. I would like something that looks cooler, but for now this is going to have to do. I love the look of the pro monkey seat

Corbin is my favorite with the soft foam. I just ordered one for my Highway King. My second is the Harley tall boy seat.

I love my Corbin saddle. Looks cool and is super comfortable. Rod down Florida and it was a game changer.

Hey always enjoy your videos, my 2009 street glide stock seat sucks. I purchased the mustang 2 piece seat . It dropped down a couple inches and gave me more comfort and control then the pos stock seat. Set me back a little and very comfortable. Just my opinion.

I have a 03 ultra and I hated the seat till I took it to a upholstery shop and had the front narrowed and the seat lowered and it is super comfortable now and now for my tri glide I will be doing the same thing I also bought a CC Rider seat that is narrow in the front but I will be having the center lowered that has 200 miles and is a nice seat

I got my 16 Fatboy S fitted with a Russel DayLong seat and I have had no problems. Expensive to get done but I can go 1k miles and no pain at all. It made riding almost boring since I wasnt in pain and using that to keep my mind on riding or busy. I will get one again for 20 Heritage soon.

Like your new seat idea, slammed and pushed back. Are you gonna have a gel option for that? I have the stock seat still on my 18' RGS and ran that to Sturgis from Ohio for the 80th. Was a tough 1900 miles on that seat! Love the saddleman step up look but maybe help you guys out and get your seat. Ill wait and see what options you guys offer on your seat. I rock 2 seats one for 2 up riding and one for just me. I run a saddleman extended set up for my solo seat and a seat off a 2022 ultra that I use for 2 up riding. The HD seat is soft and comfortable but over long haul rides I have issues with my right leg. With the saddleman seat once I broke it in 100% it was better than the stock HD seat just my opinion

Stock ain't bad on a touring bike, but I sprung for the super tour extended deluxe. I'm 6'2 and always need to scoot back. had 4 different seats for my fatboy and none of them was good for more than 50 miles at a time.

I’ve got a stack of aftermarket seats in my barns rafter, and a stock seat on my Road King.

Put a Corbin gunfighter and lady on my 77XL years ago. My 2003 fxstdse deuce also had a Corbin dual tour seat included when I bought it. Rode it from the Tennessee border to Minnesota in one day. I was “only” in my mid 50’s at that time, but could never have done it on the stock seat.

The unfortunate issue with many aftermarket seats is it can be difficult to "try" one out. I have a 2005 Road King. My wife absolutely could not last longer than 30 mins without needing a break on the stock seat. So, my search began....I sat on a few bikes with different seats, Saddlemen, different Harley seats, etc....problem I had was most I tried were on newer bikes. I eventually bought the Mustang Lowdown based on reviews for comfort. I got lucky being it worked out for both me and my wife liking it, however if i had not liked it, I would not have been able to send it back for a refund. I dont know if any aftermarket seat manufacturers allow you to send a seat back after you try them out. I'm lucky my $700 seat worked for me.

Took my Hammock seat to As Tech Seats in Marion IN , they custom "rebuilt" my seat for me. By far the best seat I have ever owned and got it done at a fraction of what a new seat would of cost me.

I've been looking at seats for 2 years since I bought my 21 SGS so many different opinions on them I didnt know what to do I ended up pulling the trigger on the Saddlemen Road Sofa CF and put my 1st 300+ miles on it yesterday and couldnt be happier! What a difference with the added lower back support better foam and gel inserts. Best 600 bucks spent yet and it came right before the trip to Montana and Sturgis.

I've only had 2 custom seats, both Corbin on an 04 Wide Glide and on my current 14 Dyna Super Glide Custom. As you've mentioned, it's a personal decision based on your height, weight, arm-leg length and the footpeg-handlebar relationship. Living in SoCal, I'm only a days ride from Hollister, home of Corbin seats. On the Wide Glide after 4-5 years, the foam was shot. I designed the Corbin seat on-line with the dual-bucket style. Dyna passenger accommodations are not the most comfortable place for anybody. Made an appointment for 8:00 am. On the ride up, I had to stop numerous times with a sore derrière. Arrived at the factory, showed them my design with the materials & stitching and by noon the seat was done. This included a couple short rides to make sure I was satisfied with the shape and feel of the seat. When I left for the ride back to SoCal, I didn't even think about my butt. Even after being told that it would take 2-3 months(depending how much you ride) to break in the seat, it still was like night & day. I was also very impressed with the variety of materials, colors and stitching available for a custom seat.

The Road Zeppelin with air ride is by far the best seat made in the world.

I’ve had no issues with the stock seat on my Ultra Limited. I still try to get off the bike every 100-150 miles, but I can put some serious miles on in a day with this seat.

After an hour and a half of riding my seat feels like I'm setting on a board . So I bought another seat that moved me back off the gas tank and gave me more leg room, which was nice, but the results were the same after an hour and a half or so It feels like a board . I end up with a numb ass ! That's right, I'm a numb ass .

I personally run a Road Sofa on my 20 RGS, I am currently having a custom one built for my bike specifically at the moment. Have put 12K on my Road Sofa and it’s a good all around seat even when doing 1200 to 1500 mile trips over a few days.

I’ve ran the stock seat on my 2016 FLTRU for over 72k miles. It’s comfortable to me and I will ride it 500+ miles a day with no complaints. I recently put a wind rider cover on it because of it’s appearance… thread coming apart and what not… I will add I have done 550 mile day and never got off the bike. Straddled the bike for 9 hours. Stood up to get my wallet while getting gas but never got off…

Can confirm on the cheap foam . Big difference on metric bikes as well. Short legs for torque not high speed I know this because I'm in the same boat

It would be way too much to hope that the new pro monkey seat would also be available for 97-07 touring bikes wouldn’t it? I have a saddlemen step up but have the same issue where I need it lower and farther away. Also, smart move having the passenger section “ribbed for her pleasure”.

I have 61000 MI on my 16 Road King stock seat rode it all the way from Florida to Pittsburgh no problem whatsoever it is comfortable as the day I bought it.

Well my stock seat that on my 2002 RKC is bit different than yours, although I know the new RK probably have the same seat and it kills my tail bone, did put rider back rest on and made world difference on the 200 plus rides.

Just got back from a 1000 mile trip one direction on a stock ultra seat comfort wasn’t bad just riding position need the tall boy I’m 6’2”need a little more room

The price of seats still blows my mind. I can buy a pretty nice air ride seat for a Kenworth for what a Saddleman or Mustang seat costs.

I have a 22 fat boy and I stripped my seat and gel padded the hell out of it. The thing about mine is if you take the rear pillion off, you can sit further back and it makes it a whole lot more comfortable. For Sturgis, I’m going to have a packed duffel right behind me as a back rest, but no passenger seat.

I have a Saddlemen road sofa. I put 3000 miles on it and it still didn’t seem to want to break in. I changed over to the Mustang much better.

I have my stock seat but I have just been running my distance touring seat because until a year ago I was riding 2 up most of the time, Now that I am solo 99% of the time I am looking for a new daily seat.

Stock seat on my ultra was great. Did not replace it until it was wore out. Went with the Mustang and very satisfied with it. Had a Corbin seat on a Goldwing it was also a great seat. Ride safe

It’s either Saddleman if you own an M8 or 2012 Dyna touring glide and up that’s what you want if you’re riding an old-school Hardtail panhead knucklehead shovel head give me head do you want a good cheetah seat in my opinion🤷🏽‍♂️💯

Swapped out the stock seat on my 14 UL to the ASR seat and pillion pad with back rest. Love it so far, but still breaking it in.

I've had 3 different people tell me if you want a good looking seat buy a Saddlemen, if you want a comfortable seat buy a Mustang. I've been eyeing the Mustang Wide Tripper Solo with the backrest.

I have a Mustang tour couch and a custom bar hopper seat. But I understand why you mention an intermediate seat.

I have a 08 Road King classic HD and I think I'm going to get a mustang seat for it. It is a very difficult decision when it comes to seats.

I have 2 for my RG. One custom ostrich and a huge sofa seat when mamma bear is going with.

Agreed big ugly works for distance. I currently I am rocking a HD Hammock seat. The wife LOVES it, I would like to sit back and down a bit more but this seat is comfy!

That touring seat you referred to, I believe is called the Hammock. I bought one for the reason you stated: long rides.

I bought a badboyz seat I think it’s comfortable for long distance only test was from Florida to Wisconsin and back

I agree, 2 seats!! I like the stock seat on my electra glide for long rides and a stock street glide set for the normal short stuff. Anything over 2 hours the Bosslady INSIST I put the couch seat on!!! I'd rather her be happy and enjoy the ride then look cool and put up with constant bitchin!!!

Replaced the awful stock seats on our 07 Heritage with a Sundowner 2-up. Huge improvement, but then 3 weeks ago traded that bike for 120th Anniversary Heritage, so we're back to an awful stock seat! It LOOKS cool as hell with the deep red panels, but we ordered another Sundowner. Maybe throw the stock seat on for shows.

The stock seat on my 2018 Road Glide standard looks great and is fine for daily riding. However I obtained a H/D Hammock and it is so much more comfortable, plus it is heated for cooler fall & winter rides. I believe the MSRP is over $1K, but I got mine used for $200.

Ive done well on the Road Zeppelin. There are many good seats and like you said everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

Always have used the HARLEY DAVIDSON SUNDOWNER SEATS for long distance rides on my fat boy and my freewheeler perfect extra thick very comfortable

Honestly, it's individual tastes like you said. Personally, I prefer the 2nd seat but in the harley stock form . I have it on 2 of my 3 bikes the 3rd is a saddlemen like your seat it's on my dyna and I love them all and I'm able to put down 500-650 miles a day easy .

I want to find the person who can customize it to make it look old school and make it taller because I’m 6’6”. I want it moved back slightly and up with a deep pocket so I still have back support for long rides

Had the HD Sundowner on my SportGlide. It was good but knew there was better out there. Now rocking a Saddlemen Explorer. Only complaint is that I wish I would have gotten the tuck and roll instead of the diamond stitch.

100 percent true about the you can either look cool or ride distance 😂. For me the reduced reach HD seat that came on 17 Road King is so comfortable I can’t justify getting anything else. What I want to do is just have it re-covered with a nice pattern stitch that “looks aftermarket” so I get the best of both worlds. Currently it is big and ugly though. You ain’t lying about that 😂

FLHTK- (all touring long distance)I like the stock seats for about 10k miles. Then they start to break down the foam. I buy them as take offs. I currently have 3 spares that were taken off at the dealer when new. In the past I spent big money on aftermarket seats that were torture! I don’t give a crap about the styling of them. I can’t see the seat when I’m riding it!

Russell Daylong! you may not like the way they look but I have tried just about everything and nothing even comes close for comfort.

I love the Advanblack Assault Seat. I’ve had a lower back fusion and I have tailbone pain since that surgery and I’ve never felt pain with the Assault Seat. On rides of about an hour to hour and a half

When I got my 2020 ultra I planned to replace the stock seat before I picked it up but I was surprised it was ok.

I wanna be comfortable 100% of the time and I don't care if it looks like a lounge seat. The stock seat on HD tourers and the Heritage back in the Evo days were fantastic, then HD stuffed that up by typically making the rider seat relatively comfortable but then went for 'cool' when it comes to the pillion seat. I ride 2-up most of the time and I'm sick of spending the big bucks on a new bike which is designed for 2-up riding but then have to spend another $500 on a new seat because the HD goes for a narrow slanting backward pillion seat.

Coming from an old man. That rides heavy cruiser. I've had my tattooed biker behind in a saddle for millions of miles. Last year I bought the ultimate seat. I paid way to much and it was worth every penny.

I don't know if I need to get a tall boy version (I'm 5' 10" - 6' depending on the convenience store) of the stock touring seat or what, but I rode just under 400 miles yesterday on a stock road glide seat and my tail bone was KILLING me. I normally love to ride, but by the time I got home, I didn't even want to look at the bike I hurt so much.

The drag specialties predator III is my all time fav. Had one on my FXBB and have one now on my FXLRST now. Have done 5 rides of 1,000+ miles in a day. Three iron asses and two sturgis trips. Checks the boxes for cool and comfortable. I can tell though when i am in my 40's that may not be the case and i may want more couch cushion lol

I like to change the looks. All our seats I can ride 300+ miles days without complaining (about my butt anyway). We have stock seats, a "big ugly" for that 2 up occasional ride, and CVO style seat with passenger pillion. Regardless of the seat, I have to have a drivers back rest. That is the deal breaker for me. I did not last a couple hundred miles with my solo seat (2 days of riding). the solo seat was a must for the tourpack bracket that moved it forward, but not forward enough to be my backrest. Vicious cycle....

Looks lower than the Saddlemen step up and that‘s what I want! Where can I buy it?

I like my 19 Ultra Limited stock seat. I’d love it if I could have the padding on the tip of it cut down so it didn’t make my taint sore after 100 miles or so.

You cannot order the CVO seat unless you own a CVO. I wanted to get the CVO ultra seat for my 19 CVO SG and they wouldn’t even let me order one because you have to turn in the old seat to get the new one AFTER they verify ownership with your vin. Ridiculous….

The stock seat on my 2020 Road Glide Limited,the big ugly seat, KILLED my tailbone after about an hour. I had it reworked with better foam. It is awesome now!
