12 жыл бұрынIn this Video Lecture, Professor Fink describes the Regulation of arterial Blood Pressure by the Cardiovascular Reflex Center in the Medulla Oblongata. The Baroreceptor Reflex is explained and the 4 major actions identified: [1] change in Heart Rate; [2] change in myocardial contractility; [3] change in venoconstriction; and [4] change in overall degree of arteriolar vasoconstriction. Reference is made to the carotid and aortic baroreceptors, tachycardia, Starling's Law, Stroke Volume, Cardiac Output, and to Total Peripheral (Vascular) Resistance.

You helped me to review everything that I need for my employment examination.. I am not that kind of a book person when it comes to my course back in college(Nursing).. mostly when i did not heard it from a professor or a lecturer.. After hearing it, that's the time i read.. Thank You for your very kind words. I truly appreciate it! While I do have Video Lectures in Pharmacology (as well as Biology, Human Anatomy & Human Physiology), I do not have Video Lectures in Microbiolgy. (But there are many helpful resources on KZfaq & the "web") Good Luck!

Professor Fink, the video was cut off just before I believe you were about to discuss how syncope acts as a homeostatic reflex and may save your life and/or brain cells. Can you please explain?

Gravity causes a drop in Blood Pressure [BP] and blood flow to the Brain. If the Baroreceptor Reflex fails to adequately raise the BP and increase blood flow to the Brain, it leads to syncope [fainting]. Fainting causes the person to fall to the ground, immediately ending the entire gravity problem. BP improves as does blood flow to the Brain. Thus, syncope is a homeostatic reflex.
