It's really hard to think of one though there are many. For sheer emotional power and cultural/ political cross over, the words to Free Nelson Mandela, The Special AKA. 'Twenty one years in captivity, are you so blind that you cannot see?' to highlight one of its great lines.

...tough One...but, Sir Elton rejuvenated his career, with this line..... Don't you know that I'M STILL STANDING, better than I ever did.... Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid.... And I'm still standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of my life without YOU, on my mind.... ....makes One wanna jump on a Piano, eh!? ...ha-HAAA!!

At the end of the song Secret Separation by The Fixx, "I'll bear one precious scar that only you will know." There are more, but that's one I can think of off the top of my head. It's my favorite song from the band.

Great interview! It's funny that my 20-year-old son heard this song on the radio while we were driving one day recently. He instantly said, "Oh, this is Wang Chung!". And I was like, "How did you know that?". He said, "I love 80s music!" I said, "You were born in the wrong decade!"

They caught my ear several months earlier with "Don't Let Go", which remains one of my favorites. I had the pleasure of meeting them in Birmingham (AL!) at Front Row Center during the Mosaic tour. I had gone to high school with their touring guitarist's brother, so we got to spend a bit more time with the band: the guys were great, I can't say enough positive things about that interaction! To this day, every time one of their songs come on, I tell my wife "Personal friends of mine!"

Professor, I continue to be amazed. I hover over the thumbnail, a video about a song I can't remember ever hearing, by geezers I don't care about (yet), when I'm in a state of mind where I can't really concentrate on things that aren't exceptionally shiny. And before long, you get me to smell the roses that people once found in the song, you present the people behind it as heroes of their story, and you keep me waiting for the titbits like a dog for treats. Not every time: my depression-fuelled ADD (yep, I may be 57, but still) is a very steep uphill battle. But you are very good at telling things in an engaging way, and I am often pleasantly surprised to find myself engaged. 3 chords and the truth!

I love these guys! Wang Chung was so original when the music at the time was starting to become bland and predictable. As much as I enjoyed Dance Hall Days and Wang Chung, I was floored by To live and die in LA. The keyboards are haunting and precarious, fitting the mood of the movie. Underrated song and underrated movie.

Jack Hues mentioned going to London to get his albums- I lived in NJ (USA) and had to go to NYC to get the music I wanted. Bleeker Bob's, Golden Disc to name a few where shops I frequented to buy albums. That's how I met John Lennon who checked out the records I had purchased and told me I had great taste. he was kind enough to give me an autograph that I since lost (crying in my beer). When we graduated high school in California in the late 80s, we had the option to go to Disneyland on graduation night. It was about a 4 hour ride from my school to Anahemi. It would just be kids around 17 to 18 years old at Disneyland all night long, and the only pleasant visit to that park I ever had (a lot less crowded than daytime). A couple bands were playing, one of which was Wang Chung. I remember stopping to watch them for awhile because I had always liked a few of their songs that were on MTV.

Just like thinking Flock of Seagulls, People think of "I Ran" when they had another great forgotten track, "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph)". There are many great forgotten songs out there or maybe not forgotten, but tracks that just don't get any airplay today like this one. I became familiar with Wang Chung in 1986-87 with the hits "Everybody Have Fun Tonight," "Let's Go," and "Hypnotize me" and I remember MTV playing a song called "Praying to a New God" in 1989 by Wang Chung that was a big departure for the group as far as sound goes (but still a great song and cool video).

truly a great 80s classic that is better than everything in the past 10 years...I'll probably think of other lyrics from the 80s that really moved me in about 6 months from now but... 1) I don't care where we go, I don't care what we do, I don't care pretty baby, just take me with you 2) when i leave i don't know what i'm hoping to find, and when i leave i don't know what i'm leaving behind

Also cool that Wang Chung referenced Joni Mitchell's "The Hissing of Summer Lawns", a magnificent album. Supposedly, Prince once told a journalist that it was the only album he could listen to all the way through. Not sure if it's completely factual, but an interesting thought.
