The fact is that the film was shot back in 2017, and was shown at film festivals in 2018. At that time, Director Timur Bekmambetov actually invented this genre. All the famous screenlife films including Unfriended and Searching were produced by Timur Bekmambetov's company Basilevs. Timur Bekmambetov then decided not to release the film and decided to focus on producing more spectator films. Apparently, because of the pandemic and the news about Islamic extremism in Europe (the recent execution of a teacher in France), he decided that his film has gained relevance.

I mean, he didn’t invent the format, there’s a bunch of great films like open windows and the den but he did popularise it and championed the format with all the great films he’s been producing.

fuck, this movie is highly underrated. if anybody is reading this, stop reading other comments and simply watch it, it's a mind bending psychological thriller since the very first second of it. you have never seen anything like this. absolutely bone chilling and this will be stuck in my mind for ages.

This is absolutely terrifying in so many ways. It gives me a whole lot more chills knowing that this happens in real life. If I happen to be in Amy’s pace, I probably wouldn’t have made it out alive in the end. Terrorism is something that continues to be widespread all around the globe.

I don’t know if the people who are opposing this movie know what they are indirectly telling people. That extreme jihadists and Muslims are alike, and that making any media demonizing jihadists is islamaphobic. I’m more than sure that no one viewed this trailer and though of it applying to anyone but extreme terrorists, as the film clearly depicts. Picking a fight against this as a muslim blurs lines that no one even thought to blur. It forces people to view the terrorist in the film as an average muslim who we should sympathize with, because y’all seem to see yourselves represented in this movie when you’re not. It’s not muslims vs everyone else, it’s all of us including muslims against terrorism. This movie is not islamophobic, it has nothing to do with islam, but extreme religious terrorism. Choose your battles wisely because trying to demonize this film only feeds into islamophobia

my guy ur wrong. u know why we r against it? 1-its a one-sided view and selfish to just tell the story of a UK journalist who sold many guns to ISIS 2- bc of the first one many uneducated ppl will see Islam like this and we r trying very very very hard to tell that true Islam is not like this at all. 3-there r many truthful movies out there u can watch go watch DAMASCUS TIME it is a movie u will see a little bit of many truths there and what they did and ppl from what countries came to help isis for example their main cameraman who recorded executions was from Belgium!

Don't play the victim, western media is just going to use you like the blacks over here. Sound like y'all are putting up an amazing fight against terrible odds, ISIS armed by our crooked politicians. People like a fierce underdog fighting for their right to survive. People over here are DEAD FUCKING TIRED of hearing the victim narrative, the racism narrative. Just show us your pride in what you're fighting to defend, that will resonate with people who might actually give a damn. Nothing shook my perception of our governments more than learning that Bill Clinton and the CIA armed the forces that evolved into al-Qaeda, and made me pay attention to that sort of shit continuing to the present with ISIS. We're quite fuckin tired over here of our corrupt politicians sticking their fingers in foreign affairs as well.

Amazing movie! Just saw it tonight. Cleverly done; the story was unfolded in screen messages and video conversations, with plenty of changes of scene on screen. The acting was superb. SPOILERS BELOW ______________________________________________________________________ You could see how the young journalist got almost totally reeled in, until she saw that she would not be his only wife. And it was terrifying how quickly he changed when he saw that she had been deceiving him, too. This works as a thriller on many levels, and even offers an insight into the mindset of the jihadists.

The real break is where the Arabic phone conversation is. When Amy translated the speaking words with translate and then got her Syrian friend approved, she left her secondary personality and returned to her main character.

@@coreycasciano3255 It says it is the same producer. Maybe that is why it is looking so similar in its storytelling. The director isn't always the guy pulling the strings. In some movies, the producers are actually the ones with the vision and the director just needs to follow along.

Фильм обязателен к просмотру! Особенно для тех, кто одинок! Очень наглядно показывает, как на фоне любовной связи террорист пытается внушить необходимость приехать и повиноваться! Манипулирует чувствами девушки, т.к. она на фоне общения находит близкого по духу человека, а это то, чего ей не хватает. Влюбляет в себя тем, что предлагает жизнь, свободную, независимую, иллюзию их совместной идеальной жизни (в подробностях). Обещает жить в большом шикарном доме, якобы будет много детей, типа будут жить долго и счастливо. Но по факту, все ведет к тому, чтобы она была очередной смертницей. Не хочу спойлерить, но настоятельно рекомендую особенно тем, кто столкнулся с подобной ситуацией, для начала, посмотреть фильм до конца.

Finally saw the movie! It works as a cautionary tale and a dual character study; form really is content when it comes to interacting with someone It's good despite some leaps in logic and believability the performances by the main two video chatters is convincing It's terrifying how much we are willing to go for the truth as far as journalistic integrity is concerned
