President Bola Tinubu has directed Dangote, BUA, and other cement manufacturing companies to revert to the old price of the commodity.
The idea is to ease the economic hardship Nigerians are going through.
The essence of humanity is to feel another man's pain and help take it away.

If they refused , then the government has no choice than to open the border for Cement to come in. Period.

We can obviously see where you stand. You want the country to grow and you're still reverting to importation of foreign product. A fight that all developed nations are trying to win. Do you think China will be what it is today if they open the border for everything? You're not concerned about the inhumane actions of the privileged Nigerians who cause inflation because of selfish gain?

The problem of our economy and the hardship being felt by the people will never cease as long as we all remain crazy about making profit at all cost. Everybody is guilty of this and without changing this mentality, we are in for a long stretch of problems.

Why cant the president see this Dangote as part of those out to Destroy his government by creating pains on the citizens bcs this price of cement has also affected house rent and also a lot of people has lost their jobs bcs many projects are on a standstill, the president should give more people like ibeto and others licence to import cement or declare emergency on cement so the price will crash

You did not know the reason behind it but you're sounding as if the government is the villain. You think the government is against you but the government is actually protecting us in ways we cannot tell. When Elon wanted to come mine lithium to make batteries for electric cars, the government said they'd give him the privilege to do that if he'll open his plant here in Nigeria and also employ Nigerians. Elon said he can open his plant in Nigeria but he can't employ Nigerians. The government then said they can't let him mine from Nigeria. After hearing the news about the government denying the world richest man access to mine in Nigeria, Nigerians went online to say silly things about the government without knowing that the investor only wanted to take our mineral without giving knowledge of electric car batteries to Nigerians through employment. The government is not always the villain. Don't be blaming people unjustly.

Before now, Dangote cement, was more expensive in Nigeria than in Ghana, Where were the journalists? Abeg make una keep quiet. The government knew that Nigeria depended on refined oil for their industries, transport farm produce and workers, for years Nigerians encouraged fraudulent import of Petroleum products at the expense of their own moribund refineries. Where in the whole world, do economies encourage imports rather than value added processed goods. Abeg we all need to check ourselves.
@anyimmichaelik
@anyimmichaelik 4 ай бұрын
One major thing that affects the price of any commodity is inflation and devaluation of currency. When you devalue a currency by 100%, for instance, it means the price of commodity will double. Now, anybody sell their product at the old price is sell at a big loss. Because the old value of that currency is not the same today. Expecting dangote to reduce the price is not realistic. So many companies like Nestle and MTN are already seeing big loss.

This is the consequences of privatization and government inability to manage a prosperous economy. Because businesses are designed to make profits nothing more and nothing less. Also, devaluation of the naira is what is responsible for the price increases in food items and cement including other commodities. Because companies obligations are focused solely on maintaining their production line and which includes maintenance of their equipment. Perhaps they need foreign exchange to procure their spare parts required to keep their equipment functioning properly. However, the only option for the government is to allow imports of cement to bring down the high cost of cement in the country. Which is a double edged sword in that it will increase unemployment in the country and promotes employment in foreign countries. Therefore, the government should either negotiate with the cement industries in the country or temporarily subsidize them pending the recovery of the economy. Because construction companies are vital tools for development, employment and economic recovery. Therefore, government should act fast on how to bring down the high prices of food items, cement products and other commodities in the country.

First off, the fall of naira is as a result of the activities of Nigerians on the finance black market. Check out the story of why binance left Nigeria Secondly, I'm amazed that you mentioned opening of borders but I like the fact that you mentioned the unemployment issue it will cause. Are you also aware that no country survive on importation of goods? If that's what make developed countries, China would be the poorest country today because they locked all their border for ten years now they're one of the biggest exports in the world. If we continue to consider opening the border at the sight of any economical issue then we're not ready to develop as a country. Maybe you don't know but no developed country is surviving on importation. As a matter of fact developed countries are making money by exporting to underdeveloped countries.

It Tinubu has not reduced the price of petroleum, he can’t tell anyone what to do
@emmanuelogundipe3328
@emmanuelogundipe3328 4 ай бұрын
You need to understand that the petroleum price did not increase. The government only removed the money they've been payment whenever a citizen buys fuel. What that means is that when fuel was 60naira, government was paying 540naira per liter for the fuel that every Nigerian bought When fuel became 100 naira, government was paying 500naira per liter for the fuel every Nigerian bought When fuel became 200 Naira, government was paying 400 naira. What it means now is that the government subsidized the amount of fuel for years and now they have other issues to deal with and debts to pay so they decided to divert the money they were pumping into fuel into other things.
