Profitec Go Espresso Machine 4 Months Review: Latte Workflow

Жыл бұрын

Making a latte on our 4-month-old Profitec Go espresso machine. I was one of the early owners of Profitec Go when they launched it in the US. After 4 months of use, our daily routine has pretty much stabilized and again, we only use 1 kind of bean for our Latte or Americanos. This is my review as an average Espresso machine owner.
My recommended upgrades:
2oz Glass Measuring Cup: amzn.to/3ChfzgK
Cafelat E61 8mm (You need Red one for Profitec Go) Silicon Gasket: amzn.to/3prXrZJ
Some nice upgrade options (You don't need these to make good shots but they are nice):
Dosing Funnel: amzn.to/3CdjD1m
MS Precision Shower Screen: amzn.to/3PxSlWA
VST 18g Ridgeless Basket: bit.ly/3PA4Kcg
IMS 18g Basket: amzn.to/3QC1Ncy
ECM Bottomless Portafilter: bit.ly/3STwwn4
All Metal Tamper: amzn.to/3QSuodp

Hi there. Just a tip. During a barista course i was advised not to leave a coffee loaded portafilter mounted. Because the coffee may "bake". I was advised to brew as soon as possible after mounting. If you'd like to warm up your portafilter + basket, purge some water through an empty one and use a cloth to dry it quickly.

Hey there! I too have a Profitec Go. I got a puck screen and no longer have to deal with the puck getting stuck or having to clean the group-head afterwards. It’s a huge game changer and I would definitely look into it. Also a temperature sticker that changes color at 60-65°c for your milk frothing cup or even just a liquid thermometer is a game changer for consistent lattes as well.

You should never store your beans in the hopper. That’s a possibility because your espresso shot didn’t look good. Could also be that the grind size is too coarse. And you should not wait such a long time in between inserting the filterholder and starting the extraction, this can burn your coffee grind. Other than that, great video :)

Have been using the Profitec Go for about a month but after all I am really disappointed. Very noisy and rattling.all around when making an espresso. The driptray went broke because it is wacky and brittle. There is no dedicated hot water switch for Americano's. The outer build quility is rather poor. Thin body plates. The pid is not at eye-level definately not very comfortable to work with. Driptray and water reservoir are very small. Design is boxy with cut corners all over the machine. The lid of the watertank has no hinge and just sitting loosely on top of it. Very annoying. The watertank is cramped within the body so high chances the body parts will be getting deformed there. Before steaming the milk the steam wand has to be purged twice. I returned the Profitec Go under warranty because of the lack of user-friendlyness. To make it a happy end the purchase-amount was returned to me.

My espresso machine leaks so I am looking for a replacement but find it hard to decide. Some of the more expensive and better built models also require a longer process to use and in cleaning. The Sage machines are more user friendly and i have a decent voucher to reduce the cost. Instead of going for a machine costing £400 more a better grinder than my Sage smart grinder pro might make more sense. Profitec Pro 400 £1149 Sage the Dual Boiler £874.30 (30% voucher) Profitec Go £769 Gaggia Classic Pro Espresso £429 Sage the Duo Temp Pro £279.98 (30% voucher)

Everyone's priority is different. I'm more leaning towards Gaggia Classic Pro for super fast power-on to espresso out time. Profitec Go for slightly more consistent shots and at the sacrifice of warm up time. Sage DB or Pro for more steaming power. Duo Temp Pro if your budget doesn't allow you to have a better grinder, which I personally think is way more important than the espresso machine itself.
