Project E39 - Fixing the Rear Door Handle

Before you ask: I expect to have a new build video uploaded not too far into the future;)
As usual I spend way too much time on the build videos, so here is a short in-betweeen video of project E39: How to fix the rear door handle on a BMW E39. I might make video like this every now and then. It's not the kind of video I expect to go viral, but I enjoy making them and I want to have somthing to look back to. Hopefully someone will find it helpful (juding by how many BMW E39s have door handles which do not work).

Can this handle be fixed in polynomial time or does that require you to prove that P = NP ?

To determine whether the handle can be fixed in polynomial time, we must first determine whether the problem is NP complete. To do this, we need to complete the following steps: 1. Prove that the problem is in NP: A problem is in NP if a solution can be verified in polynomial time. Verifying that a door handle works can be verified in constant time, and verifying that all the doorhandles work can be proved in linear time, thus proving that the problem is in NP. 2. Prove that the problem is NP hard: A problem is NP hard if a known NP complete problem can be reduced to the problem in question in polynomial time. As far as I'm concerned, there is no known NP complete problem which can be reduced to the door handle problem whatsoever. This means that the problem is not NP hard. Since the door handle problem is not NP hard it cannot be NP complete, so you are not required to prove that P=NP. Another way to go about this problem is to use pure logic. The complexity of one door handle problem does not add complexity to the next door handle problem, implying that the problem is merely linear. I hope this answers your question.

What is that cable called that came loose? Mine is broken. Door handles are fine but can't open from the outside. Inner door handle still works

Do you know how to get the door open when neither the exterior or interior handle works? Can the panel be removed while the door is shut?

I don't think it's possible (at least it's very difficult) to get the door card off with the door closed. You can, however, remove the inside handle and use some thin tool to try to pull the handle wire inside the door to open it and take the rest from there. I haven't tried it myself, but it might be worth a try.

Not really but i have seen a few cars with the e36 front end conversion i think it's custom though

Pretty interesting idea. I will look into it;) But regarding the plan, a clean cruiser is what I have in mind right now. I would love to have it lowered, with 10" wide wheels front and rear. We'll se what happens.
