Project Eris is finally here!. This video will show you how to update your existing BleemSync build and migrate over to Project Eris. I also cover what you need to do if you are a first time user.
Please make sure you watch this video in its entirety in order to not miss any crucial steps.
I am going to leave links to the repository for all the ports below, but I will covering installing them in a different video. Instructions will be available in the readme files, so if you feel confident in your abilities, please feel free get started with them.

... “couple weeks... “ Oh, how naive we were, in mid-March... ignorance was truly bliss... but not a great way to get through this survival horror reality... It’s almost so screwed up, one has to laugh, but that would seem inappropriate... Meantime, a hearty 440th, on that motion to thank you, for this. Just getting to it, now, actually, as the last system I needed to mod, because I saw no reason to get the Genesis mini, when the PSC arguably plays the games better. If only I’d have bought 25 of these, when they were $20/ea. ... especially with the newer features that I think will end up, with some really good interoperability... Who knew these would become _far_ better purchases, at that price, than RPis, for emulation - given the packaged controllers and everything else but a brick, of which everyone has 100 extras, by now... although I bought some much more powerful bricks, for driving peripherals, like the miracle, $10 Logitech keyboard that works with everything... (Speaking of which, if anyone watches/watched “Upload,” on Amazon Video, did you notice the original run Logitech K-400 wireless keyboards they use, for interfaces? I’m really hoping they come out with a better product than that, by 2033... 😂😂😂)

GUYS I've got to drop this MAJOR FIND here for you all, i've achieved vibration to work with my original Playstation 1 dualshock controller in Project Eris. I have connected my Og Ds1 controller trough a common twin joystic PIII USB/ps2 adapter to my unhardmodded (without current limiter mod) PSC ,turned pad type to Dualshock , and enabled vibration trough options in Retroarch. I'm making a video to show proof and will leave link below when it's done. It's working PERFECTLY. Im using PSX RA core from the cores link restalgia shared, I've replaced the one that came with bleemsync 1.2 with it.

I believe rumble has been working with retroarch for a little while now actually. But not many people have talked about it

@@Restalgia There's ZERo proof out there. Many people say it's working with their PS4 DS4, but i've been dealing with this since 1 year ago as many people who can't get rumble to work and it's a major deterrent to play certain games on the classic console. Theres not yet one little video showing rumble working. So I'm still uploading video proof

Stores are empty, Schools and a majority of businesses are closed. Yes that statement might come off as disrespectful to anyone sick, suffering or at loss to this world wide emergency. But being asked to stay home during this pandemic with nothing to do.... This came at the right time.

I just LOVE how all you guys make it seem so simple! I have tried autobleem, bleemsync and project eris! Every single one of these programs have given me nothing but trouble, I have followed every tutorial exactly how it's done and always end up with the same results! I have literally been doing this for 4 days straight! I"M DONE!!!

Been waiting so long for this!! Thanks for the video! EDIT: Did I screw up? Flashing the Kernel took 5 seconds then it told me hack is complete EDIT2: Nvm it's all good, I see what's going on.

TehNewParalyzer we implemented a new fast kernel flash. It will only flash if the payaload contains a newer PE kernel than installed and your backup is intact. It completely streamlines the whole kernel flashing process in the past

90's era PC games. Sim City 2000 PC version, maybe even SIMcopter, and streets of Sim city. As they use the same .SC2 SimCity files to make locations in the games. It could make for a nice trio with the PSclassic modding.

GUYS, IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH GETTING PAST KERNEL AND BACKUP. so. i downloaded everything, did the kernel, did the backup, formatted into ntfs and it didnt want to load into eris. when this happens, disconnect the usb, plug it into PC and check if you have a transfer folder on usb. if you do, just copy one game, safely remove usb, and plug it back into psc first then hdmi and then power cable. then it should load up, and transfer a game. (my usb is 16 gb)

You should be able to use the Windows convert command to convert the USB thumb drive from FAT32 to NTFS without losing the files.

Is that even a thing? In what version of Windows? I've never seen nor heard of it...

@@JohnnyProctor9 It's a native command line command in Windows NT 4.0 through Windows 10. The convert command will only work in one direction - FAT32 to NTFS.

I found that SD cards with a USB adapter uses less power and so far I haven't found one that doesn't work on port 2.

@@TehNewParalyzer 128 Gb is the highest I have tried but i'm guessing 256 Gb would work fine the only problem I have had was with a cheaper brand called patriot it still worked but lost data over time so just stick with the better brand names like Sandisk and Kingston and so on.

My favorite setting for my PPSSPP on the PSC (base it on performance, stable, and clear texture ) : Buffered Rendering, Alt Speed 110%, Vignette Shader, 2x PSP, Hardware Tran.., Software S, Vertex C, Spline High, Hardware Tess.., Upscale 2x, Upscale Type Bicubic (works best with Vignette Shader for clear texture), Deposterize, Anisotropic F 16x, Texture Nearest, Screen Scaling Nearest, Lower Resolution Safe. Max FPS on FF7 Crisis Core, I haven’t test God of War yet, but I know I will have to change some settings. Frame skip set to 1 and Auto on, helps with major frame drops when the game loads during FMV are showing.

Ok, so just an update to add to my comment below and if anyone has any issues, here is what I have discovered. I am using a 128GB DataTraveler which previously had bleemsync. I HAD to plug in my usb stick through OTG still (it is the only way it would work). Pugging in to port 2 was not recognized. 2nd no flashing red/yellow light - just booted green like normal. Everything runs pretty smoothly overall, however sometimes it will take 15 to 30 seconds before project erris actually boots. Meaning your ps classic will turn on as if no usb was detected. I guess the main thing is that while this is supposed to not need OTG anymore, it clearly does. Maybe it works better with sandisk cruzer, unfortunately I only had the data traveller and a Ultra 32GB. The Ultra would not work at all. I also tried all this on 2 seperate systems. Maybe that will help anyone who is having some issues getting this too work. Another side note, I coud not run n64 or nes in emulastation. however, genesis and snes worked fine. Yes all cores were installed. I only could run them when I added to the carousel using the Project Erris desktop app. Anyways, nice little project - but personally, I think I will stick with modding the Genesis mini, much happier wth its performance from any of the classic systems :)

I got two questions for you that I noticed you did not mention in the video one is currently am running Auto bleme on my system would I have to take that off and just go back to bleem sync to do all this? That in the biggest thing that caught my eye you mention Network support these PS1 classics have Wi-Fi chips in a man could go online? I just don't understand how that happened maybe I miss something I have not messed around with my system not since I did my Auto Bleem build a while back

More MS-DOS games on PS Classic would rock i.e. Monkey Island, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, etc and I long to be able to play Elder Scrolls 1 & 2 on PSC. Gottabe possible surely!

Actually, you can change format of USB drive without having to move the files and reformat. just do this. At the Admin command line prompt, type convert drive: /fs:ntfs

PSA for 💻 MAC users. After the initial hack, Use Windows to format the USB as ExFat. For some reason the Mac formatted ExFat USB is unreliable. Figured this out after hours of troubleshooting.

EDIT: I just did a fresh install and is working now. If anyone is confused on adding your PS1 games. I added them as .PBP files (psp ps1 files), place your game(s) into the transfer folder in the root of your USB and the games will show up on your PS classic from there. Hope that helps Updated from Autobleem to this. Did everything you said in vid. When I launch Eris I get 'Failed to load data. Error Code: 001-001' What have I done wrong?

Guys, you don't need a powered USB hub: just use a Y-cable and plug the data part in your second controller port, and the power only part (usually thinner) into your PC's USB port for the extra power (or something else you can think of). I tried it with my powered USB hub and the hub started SMOKING. It smells like burnt plastic now and no longer works (into the trash it goes). Thankfully my PlayStation and my 256 Samsung SSD were not damaged.

I used OTG to update from Bleemsync to Project Eris prerelease and then again with OTG I updated fromt the prerelease to public 0.9! You only need the front ports until you install the custom kernel.

What usb drive are you using. Sounds like its drawing too much power. Additionally, join the discord, MMC has a support section where a developer will walk you through step by step

What will happen if you don’t insert your usb stick into a console when you’ve already installed a core? Will project eris work without it? Or will console work in any way?

That game selection highlight within folders is epilepsy inducing. Hope they slow down that flash in an update. Thanks for the video, it really seems like a simple upgrade process. One thing I wonder about is theme support. Do themes transfer over?

The breakdown is: backup usb, copy to usb, plug into port 2 and go. Everything will automatically process. If you want to add games you just drag and drop into the transfer folder.

Ok, so first timer here with limited skills trying to revive my childhood:I've copied the project eris file to a formated usb stick. After inserting the usb, then hdmi, then power cable and turning the console on, it is not recognizing the usb. It instead just powers up like normal and goes to the pre-loaded games screen. Any insight what I should troubleshoot?

Yeah, for me I install Project Eris, I get the PSC to load it. When I go to the add games step and take the USB out and into my computer, then back to the PSC it just starts like normal. If I can figure it out, I will post here to let you know.

Eris runs fine but just a warning, there are some settings on the Eris menu that can glitch out retroarch. Be careful when marking them.

Happily since it's based on bleemsync you can rol back to 1.2, by first using the uninstall image, then freshly install 1.2 and you get the default settings back. After all that process you can upgrade to Eris once again.

so no menu pops up put it in and everything and it just shows normal ps1 bootup what did i do wrong??? i can run bleemsync when i had bleemsync perfect, i deleted it and made it stock again to load up project eris but nothing is happening.

okay but what I'm not getting is 2:35 "format to Fat32 if this is a fresh install" and then 7:00 "prompt stating Fat32 format is not supported" are we supposed to arbitrarily double format for a fresh install, or couldn't we just format NTFS/exFAT from the start?

So I already have Autobleem. If I want to do this one, I can just build on a fresh new USB. When I flash the new project iris internal for the new USB and build, can I still plug in my old Autobleem usb and will it work just as always? Didn't know if the new internal patch would make it not work correctly. Thanks!

Whenever I click on Network Settings, I get a "Error! Cannot detect Wireless Adapter." screen. How do I fix this? I followed all of the steps correctly, I believe.

at the time of the upgrade from bleemsync to project eris, the usb hub chip overheated and exploded in the console. Glory through the otg port with the help of the otg hub everything works. But the two front usb ports are not working.

I'm stuck at 7:00. I'm on a clean PS Classic. My flash drive is running in FAT32 and I run into this message. I went back and reformat the flash drive to exFAT and put the files back on the drive, all while leaving the PS Classic on. I stick the flash drive back in the second slot and nothing happens; the screen never changes and I have no idea what happens next. I power off and on the PS Classic and it goes straight to thew stock menu and no Project Eris, all while the flash drive is sitting in the second slot. Any suggestions? Can I just skip using FAT32 and stick with exFAT or NTFS for the entire process?

Hello, I just tried to upgrade from BleemSync to Project Eris it was successful but then my flash drive corrupted so i got new one, after i took out old flash drive i booted system and it returned back to original state, then i got my new flash drive and copied all files from Project Eris on to it but it doesn't boot on my PSC, I tried this on two different flash drives but both of them didn't boot. Help would be appreciated. Other questions. 1. Do i have to have USB plugged in at all times to run project eris? 2. Do i have to have compatible USB flash drive? 3. The fresh install method didn’t work for me (maybe I’m just dumb lol) Since I only used Autobleem before, I chose that way of modding but as soon as I get the “Fat32 is no longer supported” thing and reformat the drive, the psc just loads up the stock kernel etc. It only installed normally when I modded the console with BleemSync 1.2 and migrated from it

Anyone know how to update from 0.9.0 to 0.9.5? I cannot any tutorial on how to do that. Do I simply just overwrite the USB drive with the updated files? Please advise.

Hey, back when I nodded my ps classic, I went above and beyond to make my bleemsync build look as official as possible. I put alot of work in, editing the databases to match the correct publisher and titles, all the way down to small thing like colons instead of hyphens. To manually tuning up each box art to look clean, to creating my background, adding alternative sound effect when scrolling through the ui, etc. Will all that transfer over? Can I keep those custom folders on my usb and implement them to this?

Make sure to back up your USB fully first as you can always fall back to it but in theory yes. It will take your BS regional db and relocate it to the PE folder. If you have done changes to the DB schema though I am not sure how well that will work as we haven't tested that

@@drybananahippyhat3851 I also had someone from reddit make me a script to remove the initial warning screen, as well as remove the auto screen dimmer feature. will installing the new payload or kernel affect that, reverse it?

@@edwin99901 no in theory. The script will likely not be migrated over to the PE folder so you will need to readd it but you shouldn't need to do so as PE already does all of those things for the most part.

Restalgia if I’m upgrading to Project Eris from the latest version of Bleemsync, can I delete the Bleemsync folder once I run the install like in your vid? If so, can I delete before install? The hard drive I’m using is pretty packed with games only leaving enough room for memory card saves and save states. I’ve even deleted the game covers folder to save space once the games were installed.

Hello there, I found this video searching around, I've been wanting to get my classic/mini systems back up and running. I know this is an older video. If I originally setup my SNES Classic on a PC when thru first launched with a very early version of HackChi and now own a Mac, but the Mac has parallels which can run windows perfectly, will I be able to update hackchi on my snes classic and add and remove games from it and will there be anything special I need to do to get all of that working? I guess I should also ask, is there a version of hackchi for macos available now? Thanks!

Easy. Just dump the games into the transfer folder on the usb drive. PBP files are the best way to go imo for any single disk games

Probably a stupid question, but I didn't find the answer yet: If I prepare an exFAT-formatted ERIS USB stick that is fully working on my PSC, could I gift this stick to another person with a PSC and will it work out of the box for her/him? Or does this person still have to create a FAT32 stick on her/his own to flash the kernel? Thanks in advance for your help!

Having Problems to run certain PSX Games (some European/German Versions). Like Crash Bash, Crash Team Racing and Sheep Dog'n Wolf (Sheep Raider). They eventually crashing at Points (Crash Racing when entering a Stage for example). Only for their European Versions though, that is. Thing is i'd like to have them localized in my Main Language, due to grewing up with them. Any Solution? Another Core for PSX?
