AFTER YEARS of sitting idle.. I attempt to start my Losi 5T 1/5th Scale Race Truck. It has a 32cc 2 stroke engine in it.. and a few tricks up its sleeve for me to figure out! First .. I must pull the engine out, so I can replace the spark plug wire that was damaged in my last race with it.. I have decided to upgrade it to the Craftwerkz RC MSD HP spark plug wire.. which I have had in my parts drawer for a while. Along the way.. i discover a few other things that need my attention...

My buddy brought his Losi 5B to the track. Man that thing ripped like a motocross bike through the dirt. It was awesome and now I want one.

This is the half beauty of this hobby. Maintaining a two stroke engine and everything else needed to rise again this fifth scale jewel. The other half is when you go out to the track. With project large 2.0...If I had it I would go to a CNC manufacturer to design my own parts for it, and for the engine I would use the best available existing upgrades. Beautiful vehicle.

I loved my 5T, but with the noise and limited places to really enjoy it, and with next to no local hobby shop support, I had to sell it. I replaced it with an X Maxx which still gives me the size factor, but with less problems. Nice to see I’m not the only one who couldn’t start it now and then lol 🤟🏻✌🏻

Whats up brotherman, that losi done up really nice ,the right mods alot of cheddar makes me regret buying so many arrmas if you let them sit you can throw the carb in the garbage this new gas Ethanol.....will destroy and not like can take jets out clean t h em ..you can like Everett told medic but more than likley he d ratjer paid the 15 bucks for new carb me too , bc its just needles you can clean instead of jets like you woukd do on dirtbike its a diaphram and either gets holes or loses its elasticity

Old gas!!!! as soon as you said that I was like wtf. Fresh gas!!! That is a beast of a truck. Clean out that carb, maybe rebuild, and/or dump some seafoam in the gas. I have never owned a gas RC, but I am a small engine mechanic, would love to run a truck like that.

Usually Gas (petrol) RCs do not give so much trouble . Nitro on the other hand. Ever since Brushless was invented I can see no reason for Nitro . If you want speed go Brushless if you want that 'authentic engine feel' go Gas, leave Nitro well alone. Let it die/become niche .

Seeing you try to start this motor, reminds me of my Goped days. Started out because I wanted to ride, but later on I ended up enjoying modifying and fixing it. So many Gopeds that I ran out of spaces to put them.

The important thing of a 2-stroke engine is the spark plug and the carburetor.

Pull the carb apart, its probably the needle and seat gummed up sticking wide open. Simple 5 minute fix. I loved my old 5th scale red cat, put a 36 zenoah in place of the old anemic 23cc it had and it came alive. Started breaking dog bones left and right but it was one hell of a time! Thinking of getting another for sure, just gotta get the girlfriend on board with it 😂😂

Travis is so correct!!! Find a supplier, it will save you a lot of headaches with fuel issues!!! Since using it on all my lawn equipment no more problems!!!

Compression is not lost through a bad exhaust gasket, i don't believe that's your issue.

Have two Fg Modelsport 5th scales in my loft, one never started up, one was ran once. Both been collecting dust for YEEEEEAAAARS. They are my parents and I kept telling myself 'one day, when I have the money ill covert them to electric' but it's probably never going to happen.

Dude I have always loved project large, and it inspired me to get my baja 5sc! Like you I always love trying to trouble shoot problems with my RC'S, but when I was having the same issues with my 5th scale and slowly getting them worked I got to a point where I couldn't get it to go any faster than 30kms and hour I gave up on it after months of trying to figure it out. Hope you get it figured out loved hearing it again.

My guess is the carb, it would run with no exhaust. Give the carb a good clean with some petrol, and give it another go. Nice to see the 1/5 out again. Good job as ever, keep up the good work 👍

I just got my 5t last fall it was used I drove it at least 3 times or more a week after work. Till the clutch failed then I tore it apart to replace clutch and other wear items and sadley haven't had time to get it back together but I do have all the parts to do so now just gotta make time.

It's probably a good thing that it wouldn't start with all that gasoline buiild-up lingering in the tray below the exhaust pipe. Yes I love my losi 5t just replaced the piston after the the pin bearing let go and somehow it still ran on a messed up piston for a go 4h before it had enough now I installed 2 speed gearbox as well and it’s nuts I have to do a vid on it sometime
