The road trip to Southern France. I bought my first classic car. BMW 850Ci. The V12 was parked for the last 11 years. It was sitting mostly outside in a garden . There will be a lot of work, but I hope I can restore it.

Pull your fuel pumps, clean out the tank of all the old gas and clean the bottom, New Fuel lines and filters. Likely going to need new fuel pumps. Drain the oil and put in new. Crank it over without the fuel pump relays to circulate the oil. Put in the relays and crank it up.

Don’t bother starting buddy. They are utter junk. A full rebuild will only give you another 20k before she has gearbox issues. Everything on this car was a test bed for the future BMW short life phase. This was an intentional direction change by BMW management to reverse years of dependable long life cars, that business model didn’t make the shareholders happy. If the 850 really had been a quality built car it would be worth minimum double figures, but even restored ones fetch less than a Capri!
