Project Opel GT 1971 #19 : Floor panels finally done

Floor panels done, and some other fixes to the floor. I don't like the tubular jack supports, so got rid of them. I need to design and make more sleek jack supports that are strong, but are not visible. Also I got rid of the all cabin floor draining holes. I have never ever seen anyone using them to get rid of the water from the cabin. They just create entrance for the water and dirt to get in. From the boot section of the car, however, the draining system needs to be improved even further. Hopefully more of that in next episode.

See if you can find the Laverda Jota orange, which looks fast standing still. Ford UK and Australia paint code I think - officially ‘Yellow Fire’ but it’s orange! Used on Ford Australia XA GT

désolé de ne pas parler ta langue. moi, j'hésite entre le Jaune et l'orange mais j'ai le souvenir d'une marron du plus bel effet.... à voir, la belle est à toi, c'est toi qui vois... mais ne la fini pas trop vite, car je redoute l'arrivée du dernier épisode tellement j'ai du plaisir à te regarder t'acharner avec tant de dextérité, qui n'a d'égal que ta hardiesse et ton audace. The music from this series of videos is utterly incredible. This video is probably my favorite. I’m beginning to think that any two pieces of metal attached together near that car body are going to have a nice lumpy layer of rust in between them. How do you not get despondent about the whole thing. Incredible work and amazing videos. Can’t wait for the next chapter 🥰

Just binged on all 19 episodes. You've documented amazing work and a strong sense of commitment to a vehicle way past it's expiration date. I'm torn between the original orange and yellow. Either would be gorgeous on this car. In the US the third alternative being considered is humorously known as "resale red" because it is so common.

The rust is quite remorseless, but you are making a great job of tackling it. To be honest, all the colours look good, but I have a personal preference for the orange. At the end of the day, it's your car and you must choose what will please you most. Best wishes.

The Opel and Ferrari Dino always remind me of each other - as far as curves and paint. Love the red, The orange is growing on me. I'd also consider deep blue or gunmetal - but that red really pops. Great work - really enjoying the series.

I admire your skills for this project and the time you invest in it. Respect. Orange vibe suits the era perfectly but I liked also the metallic purple you had when starting this project. Metallic paint enhances the sweet body lines of this model, revealing its delicate refinements. Keep going.

I have really become addicted to this channel and I check for new episodes every day. The GT 1900 has been a favorite car of mine for many years. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to get one so that's why I love watching this channel. I once saw a GT 1900 in candy apple red, but that might not be an option for you.. Many years ago I painted my ‘69 GT black with a Red, Orange, and Yellow stripe from front to back. I mention the stripe because it had all 3 of your color choices. Red would be my choice of the 3.

Danke für den Kommentar und ich stimme zu. Das Auto ist auf jeden Fall zumindest langlebiger als die Werksversion. Jeder Punkt wurde mit dickerem Stahl und vollständiger Schweißung repariert.

Ich fuhr selbst einen O.GT.hatte Ihn einwenig verändert mit einen Comodoremotor und einen 6,Gang Getriebe,hatte fast 1Jahr mit einen Befreundeten Rennfahrer der leider verunglückt ist daran gearbeitet. Die Farbe die original daran war ,war Bronce, Metalic, mit leicht helleren Streifen angelehnt an Gulf hat total super ausgesehen, würde mir leider entwendet,und nicht mehr gefunden,also ich würde diese Farbe wählen. What a great video! I hope some day That my videos get as many views as yours do! Now that it is getting cold out and It gets dark at 5:00 now it is really hard to have time to work on the Opels. Right now we are in the middle of taking all the body panels off my parts car to see how the inner structures work. That porsche red is super close to the red that my 1973 Gt is painted in. I really like the color so I will probably take it to a paint store and have them match it.

Hi Sam, Super thanks for comment again. In Finland we have saying : there is no bad weather, just bad clothing. So pack your winter gear and have a headlamp and back to barn !! Looking forward your next video to see how much you stripped the car....

Hienoa työtä jakso toisensa jälkeen. Ehkäpä kallistuisin tuohob punaiseen😊 on kyllä huomattavasti haastavempi tuo opeli kun oma volkkari koska noita kotelorakenteita tuntuu riittävän, mutta uskomattoman hienoa jälkeä teet👌👍

Moro, ja kiitos kommentista. Joo, koko auto on tehty kyllä niin pienistä palasista ja levyjen väliin jää koko ajan pieniä koteloita joita löytää vasta kun oikeasti purkaa autoa. Kova hommahan tässä on ollut, mutta josko toi olisi puolivälin etappi saavutettu...
